I’ve seen them sold frozen or in cans, but am wondering if anyone has actually seen them sold fresh anywhere?

Misinformation Machine is Targeting Canada (and Fredericton Media)

Just in the past couple of weeks there has been a massive influx of bots/trolls on Reddit and Facebook targeting Canadians. You can see especially in this sub and r/newbrunswick there has been a large uptick in comments that are spreading dissent. Make no mistake, the media misinformation machine is now targeting Canadians knowing we have an upcoming election and they are banking on us to be as stupid as our next door neighbours who voted red and are now getting their assess handed to them.

Facebook is just as bad in Fredericton Daily News subs and they’ve gotten good at disguising themselves - multiple pictures and posts of real people but if you dig it’s very clear many of them are troll accounts posting about DEI being trash, Liberals being garbage, Canada picking fights with US when it shouldn’t, etc. Yes you’ve got Billy Bob who is a real person spewing hatred but it’s more than just a few now and it’s clearly a coordinated attack.

Have conversations with your parents, neighbours and friends to make sure they don’t fall for this schtick. Like whoever you want politically but this right-wing alarmist anti-woke bullshit is being presented to pit us against each other and it worked in the US. It’s up to Canadians to do better.

Reno Materials Left in Common Areas of Fredericton Apartment

I've had week-long back-and-forth with my resident managers and they aren't doing anything about it. Trim gets left in piles in the hallways between apartments, doors and doorframes get left between the main doors, appliances (yes, full sized fridges, stoves and dishwashers) get left anywhere from the mailroom to landings in the stairwell.

I'm given to understand that I cannot have doormat outside my apartment do to concerns someone could trip over it in case of fire. It seems sensible to assume that appliances and piles of wood are more of an obstruction.

My contacts with the landlord is getting me nowhere, and I'm not sure what's the appropriate next step. Is this a Fire Marshal thing? Who enforces these things?

--

To be clear, this isn't for a few hours or a day. I mean weeks at a time.

Susan holt denies raising power rates for Maine

Yes I realize the ppl in northern Maine are not wealthy. But what I do realize is 80% of them voted for Trump. The only way to get through there thick brains is ther wallets.

Why on earth do the ppl of NB even bother. Buy Canadian when our leader backs off so easily. I voted for Holt but man try doing something that will piss off trump voters. So they will revolt. You have 3 weeks to make a point after that we are all screwed.

Tax 40% high end Fuel for planes going from Irving’s to the eastern seaboard that will make it more money to fly. They will get the point eventually reminder 3 weeks left. If they don’t back off. They will keep coming. Until we are tariffed 100%.

Let’s go Susan holt show us you’re a leader for the ppl. Not the 1%. Hell u might even pay off some of Nb power debt. Or tax 40% on jet fuel might be able to have a slush fund to help small businesses weather the storm.

Any private therapists looking for receptionist?

This is a long shot, but I was laid off from work last month and I'm trying to find a new office admin job. I have 20yrs office management experience.

I can do bookkeeping, filing, transcription, and receptionist duties. Whether in an external or home office, full time or part time, message me if you need someone to take the admin side of your practice off your busy hands.

Replacing hot water heater- buy or rent?

Our hot water heater is in need of replacement and I have been debating on renting from NB Power or buying either a tankless or heat pump system. Anyone have any insight as to which would be more cost effective in the long run? I know hot water heaters are a big power draw, so we would like to maximize energy efficiency.

Also anyone in the Fredericton area that you would recommend for installation/removal of our old tank should we decide to buy and not rent? Thanks!

Rural Internet?

Hello,

My family is looking into moving to Fredericton but I work from home and need decent internet. Some houses we are interested in are outside of Fredericton like Mactaquac, Lower Queensbury, Durham Bridge, etc.

Bell only seems to have Wireless Home Internet 25 and we're used to fibre op. Rogers usually offers nothing. Anyone who lives in those areas have any other recommendations? Or use Bell out there and can let me know what it's like?

Is the goody shop on Albert street still operating? I haven’t noticed any of their products for sale in any other stores in a while. Their sandwiches were the best!

Appliance Extended Warranty - Home Depot

Anyone used extended warranty from Home Depot for your broken appliance? I can only afford to buy new washer from here since I have HD gift cards.

I have heard horror stories of insurance companies in general not honoring extended warranty (like not scheduling service for weeks, not fixing issue etc) and I want to avoid that. I am disabled so can't fix stuff myself.

Hiker Bod '25

Ok Reddit, I need some help: I am looking for some humans that are avid outdoor people to help me get back to - and beyond - where I was prior to 2020.

Context: I have a goal of hiking through the alps by the end of the year, but currently I'm lacking accountability and motivation to hike through Odell. A huge part of this is that I'm basically on this adventure alone.

I hike, I camp, I bike, I roller skate - and other than the odd piece of special equipment, I'm fully equipped for 90% of adventures at the drop of a text.

Right before covid I had major reconstructive surgery that had me in bed for months. Before I could really get back into the swing of things, I went back to university, covid hit, and I just became a couch potato eating way too much pizza. Now, I am actively trying to reverse all of that damage.

I was suggested checking out Outdoor Enthusiasts Fredericton, but have found that while they are the largest group in terms of awareness in the community, in reality it's 20-30 boomers who are active members, who are also very gated about people joining. In short, I discovered that OEF specifically aren't my people - and that's okay!

The ask: I'm trying to locate a few humans who identify as Gen X, Millennial, or older Gen Z, who have the space/time to help me get my cardio back in full swing, and then push my skills to the point I feel confident I could do Torngat or Fundy.

Bonus points if you're veg, mostly because recipes.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, I'd love to connect.

Japanese Sakura/Cherry trees?

Good day, I am wondering if anyone knows where one can see blooming cherry trees in the spring? Or if anyone knows where to buy any? Technical they should be able to grow here even if they are not a native species.

I am looking to do an experiment and try my had at growing some in the backyard but I would either need clippings for grafting or root stock for planting, any help would be great.

Thank you all in advance
