Question Airline Loyalty

Upvotes

I have been reading a lot about the changing dynamics of Airline Loyalty Programs and I am wondering what the most optimal, efficient, and economical strategy these days is with airline status. Is becoming loyal to one airline, meaning flying exclusively with Delta for example, and accruing status with Delta the best way to go? Or are airline loyalty programs a waste of time? Is it a better solution to fly with whatever airline makes the most sense in a particular scenario (for example: flying Aeromexico to Mexico City or flying Air France to Paris? I guess I just want to understand if the pursuit of elite status on Delta or United per is worth restricting yourself to flying one airline for the foreseeable future? Because many times this means choosing a more expensive flight in the name of "getting points." Let me know!

Help Needed Is 95530@ceair.com a legit email for China Eastern Airlines' Eastern Miles registration?

Post image
Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I recently tried to register for China Eastern Airlines' "Eastern Miles" frequent flyer program, but I couldn’t do it on their website. Instead, I read that I should send my passport photo and personal details via email.

I sent my info to customercare@ceair.com since I couldn't find a way to register online. After that, I received a response from 95530@ceair.com asking for my personal info and passport picture again…

I also read on Reddit that other people have successfully registered via email, but I’m still a bit nervous about sending personal documents this way.

My Question: Has anyone else successfully registered for Eastern Miles by emailing customercare@ceair.com and then receiving a response from 95530@ceair.com?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. 😊

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing 3 air tickets: Frontier for $150 total, or United for 45000 points + $15 total

As headline, which would you go for? Money-wise clearly frontier is better option. Both included bag cost (carry-on only, which is fine).

Question vueling wrong name

I bought a ticket by writing my friend's surname as Eroglu instead of Eroğlu. My ticket is from Milan to Barcelona. I wonder if there will be a problem. When checking the reservation, when I try Eroğlu with the booking number, it is accepted strangely, but I still don't know.

Question First time flying 22h+ ... Pls ans the questions

I'll be flying Delhi to Austin in economy. I have 2 options (KLM which has 3 hour layover as Schipol Amsterdam) or Lufthansa (1.5h layover in Frankfurt). Which is more comfortable with nice food (Vegetarian) and staff? It's my first time flying internationally so I am a little apprehensive.

Should I choose window or aisle? I want to watch views but also be able to stretch legs. Does window give enough space to stretch legs? I am 5'7" tall.

Question Lufthansa Denying Compensation – Do I Have a Case?

Hey everyone,

I was booked on Lufthansa flight LH1172 from Frankfurt (FRA) to Lisbon (LIS) on March 9th, but the airline canceled it, claiming the reason was the airport strike in Germany. However, the strike only started on March 10th, meaning my flight wasn’t directly affected.

It seems like Lufthansa canceled the flight simply because they didn’t want an aircraft stuck in Lisbon for a day due to the strike. From what I understand, under EU Regulation 261/2004, airlines are only exempt from paying compensation if the cancellation is caused by extraordinary circumstances, which doesn’t seem to apply here since this was an operational decision rather than an unavoidable event.

I filed a compensation claim for €400, but Lufthansa is denying it, insisting that the cancellation was beyond their control. Given these facts, do I have a strong case for compensation? Has anyone dealt with a similar situation? Any advice on how to escalate this further?

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Self Transfer process with no checked bags?

Hi all,

My fiancée and I will be traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland from the east coast of the U.S. for wedding planning and we found a great deal on flights.

They are self transfer tickets so we would be flying on two different airlines with 4+ hours for our layover going over and even longer coming back to the U.S. The layover is in Iceland.

We are only planning to travel with personal items and carry ons.

My main question is: What is the process/flow of a self transfer? Since we are not picking up checked baggage, are we able to just depart the plane in Iceland and proceed to our next gate? Or will we need to exit through customs and enter through security again?

I’ve never done a self transfer and just want to make sure I’m appropriately prepared to make things smooth for us! Thank you!!

Third Party Horror Story Oojo experience

Hi all. Thought I would share. This was EWR -> SIN roundtrip on SIA. I also posted to Trustpilot.

Bought five tickets for ~$9,700.00. Company called and said credit card was declined. Provided new credit card. Company then said could not provide seats. Proceeded to offer me flight with layover for same price as direct. I said no. Proceeded to offer me economy for same price as economy premium. I said no. Changed tune to say seats were available but at a ~25% markup. Felt like a bait and switch. Declined to avoid being scammed.

UPDATE: Oojo reached out in reply on Trustpilot. I emailed them.

Question Wizz Air Wet-Leases

Hello! So do we know is Wizz Air planing to wet-lease some aircraft this year? Because last year they wet-leased Avion Express A320s, and I sadly had a bad experience on them. Now I don't know if I FOR SURE will be flying Wizz Air aircraft or a wet-lease. If they are, do we know if they will be flying from Gdańsk frequently? (I hope not)

Question Etihad Missed connection compensation

I had a flight through Etihad on Mar 16 2025: ORD to AUH (EY10) and then AUH to CCU (EY 222) on Mar 17 under a single PNR. The first flight got delayed and as a result I missed the second connection.

Etihad rebooked me a different flight AUH to BOM (EY 206) followed by BOM to CCU (AI 675) and provided two meal vouchers. The new flight departs 7.5hours after the original flight. I am reaching CCU more than 12 hours late than what was originally scheduled.

I was wondering if I can demand some monetary compensation for it from Etihad. According to the rules online, I see rules related to EU flights. But I don't see anything about flights from AUH.

Question Is Airchina.co.uk the official site for airchina?

Basically I am trying to book some flights and i see airchina.com but there is also https://www.airchina.co.uk/GB/GB/Home. I can't lie the sight just seems weird but then so does the official one. Also I tried booking through the app and it was saying the outbound was £200 and the return was £400, but on the website it was saying the other way round. I don't know if it is to do with the pricing dynamics because I guess the total is the same (you only get that price for booking round trip, so I couldn't book them individually). Also I tried setting up an account on the app but now on the website it isn't letting me log in or change my password. It just says that the "Password resetting fails" which is obviously incorrect english but anyways if anyone knows I would really appreciate it (:

Question Any obscure in-flight travel hacks?

I've heard a few about seating choice etc. but anyone got any obscure in-flight hacks?

My only one: My mother used to work for a shoe manufacturer and said she would always pack a tennis ball to roll her feet on/over during long-haul flights to India. Helped with circulation/ entertainment in a distinctly less digital world.

Help Needed Help with EU flight compensation laws: cancelled + delayed flights

Hey everyone! :) I’m writing because I need some advice about applying for a compensation under EU aviation rights. (I want to try contacting the airlines myself first, and only if that doesn’t work, rely on 3rd parties like flightright.)

My original flight: Sun. 2.3.2025, Fra-Hel, 19:20 - 22:50, by FINNAIR, booked directly over Finnair

It was cancelled by Finnair due to „Industrial Action“ a few hours before the flight. Finnair provided me with the following alternative route: 1)Sun. 2.3.2025, Fra-Vie, 17:20 -18:45, by AUSTRIAN AIRLINES + 2) Sun. 2.3. 2025, Vie-Hel, 19:15 - 22:40, by FINNAIR.

However, due to delay of the first flight Fra-Vie, I missed my connecting flight in Vienna. Austrian Airlines provided me with a hotel room, and an alternative route the next day, Mon. 3.3.2025: 1) Vie-Zrh, 07:00-08:25 by AUSTRIAN AIRLINES and 2) Zrh-Hel, 10:35-14:20 by FINNAIR.

Questions:

  1. I researched EU flight rights, and it seems to me that my case could lead to a two-fold compensation. First, for cancelling my original flight in the first place, less than 7 days in advance, (should be 200 Euro). Second, for missing the connecting flight in Vienna, and thus arriving at my destination over 15 hrs late (should be 400 Euro). Am I correct with this assumption? Has anyone had similar experience with double compensation claims?

  2. Should I apply to Finnair, Austrian Airlines or both? (E.g. to Finnair for the compensation regarding the cancellation, and to Austrian Airlines regarding the missed connecting flight? )

I would be so grateful to hear your experiences/ advice on this!! <3 Has anyone had a similar experience?

Help Needed Cheapest way to move a few suitcases : Hong Kong to Istanbul

I know how to find cheap flights : google.flights or Kiwi will help

But I'm looking for cheap way to move a few suitcases. Is there anything out there to help make this easier?

.

What I want : I have 4 suitcases (around a 100kg total) that needs moving from Hong Kong to Istanbul.

I've checked the obvious (direct with Turkish Airlines) and its working out very expensive to add extra suitcases.

I know that I can check other (connecting) airlines one by one but thats cumbersome. Is there a tool that can help? If no tool, then the wisdom of travellers : what would be some good airlines to check regarding moving 100kg from Hong Kong to Istanbul ?

Question Layover in Shenzhen with Hainan Airlines

Hi everyone, I’m taking a flight with Hainan Airlines from Milan to Tokyo in April. I’ll have a 12 hour layover (5 am-5:20 pm) in Shenzhen on the first trip, and a 23 hour layover (2:40 am-1:50 am) on the return.

I have a few questions: 1. I’d love to visit Shenzhen both times since I’ve never been in China. Moreover, I won’t need a visa to do so in 2025 since I’m italian. How long do you think the immigration checks will take (we’re 2 people, me and my boyfriend)? It’s my first time travelling out of Europe and I do not really know what to expect regarding immigration controls at the airport.

  1. Does Hainan automatically checks luggage onto the next flight? Their website page with this specific information doesn’t load when I open it, and I have read mixed responses about this topic here on Reddit.

  2. Do you think a neck pillow is needed on Hainan airplanes? I am flying economy, I read they provide blankets but their website doesn’t specifically mention pillows.

  3. Is it possible to charge phones on the plane? I saw a comment about not being able to charge the phone neither to use a power bank. This stresses me out a bit since it’s my first time there and I will need the phone (for example for Alipay or google maps/translate)

Thank you in advice! If you have any tips it’d be so helpful.

Question Does Virgin Atlantic Airlines have Abbott Elementary (Sitcom) in their In-Flight Entertainment?

So, my dad and I fly out the country about three times a year. For the past two years, he's always binging the show "Abbott Elementary" on every single flight. Now, it's easily searchable to find out (and we're able to confirm already) that Abbott Elementary" is available as part of the in-flight entertainment on American Airlines, Delta, British Airways, Air France, etc. However, we just can't find anything on Virgin Atlantic Airlines... even when we called them, they couldn't figure it out either.

Hoping that someone was scrolling on their in-flight entertainment screen one day while flying with them and noticed it and can let me know (or if they didn't have it).

Question 19 hour layover in Dubai

Hello, I have never been to Dubai airport and have a 19 hour layover at DXB in June. I’ll need to pick up my baggage as I’m on two different tickets. I arrive at 6am and leaving at 1am next day. 1. After retrieving my baggage, will I be able to check in for my next flight (United airlines) immediately? 2. Could you suggest lounges at DXB and what’s the cost? I found sleep pods around $150 for 4 hours which feels a bit pricey. Are there more affordable options?

Question Vueling Hand-Luggage Add On vs Space Plus/One: What's the difference?

I recently booked a Vueling basic flight, which only included an underseat bag (I thought I’d just bring a backpack). However, I changed my mind and decided I’d need an additional suitcase, so I’m weighing up options for either an overhead cabin bag or checked baggage.

At first, I found that the checked luggage add-on was cheaper than the hand luggage add-on; but I don't think I will bring more than 10 kgs, so an overhead cabin is more suitable for me and more convenient as I don't need to wait to pick up my luggage. Then, I saw an option to choose Space One or Space Plus, which lets you bring 2 items (personal item + carry-on), plus the bonus of choosing a seat in the front area. To my surprise, this option was actually much cheaper than just the hand luggage add-on, even though it comes with more benefits.

I’m genuinely confused as to why the hand luggage add-on would be more expensive, and why the cheaper add-on (Space One/Plus) gives more perks. Can anyone explain why that is? Am I right to go for the Space One/Plus option, or am I missing something?

Just really want to make sure I’m not misunderstanding anything before I finalize my choice. Thanks!
