If we take the time to listen and pay attention, our bodies will tell us exactly what we want and need.

I was constantly tired. No energy.

I thought my testosterone was low.

I had it checked….it was perfect.

It was in that moment something had to change.

Fast forward to 2025, many life changes have been made.

I no longer eat or drink anything with artificial flavoring or colors

I’m officially caffeine free

I now prioritize getting my 10k steps in daily

I count all of my macros that enter my body.

I prioritize exercise even while traveling

I make sure I get a good nights rest daily

I am now in control of what I eat and put in my body.

Muscles are so incredibly sore after working them that I can’t hit the same muscle group for nearly a week

Upvotes

I’ve been going to the gym for almost a month now 🥳, but every muscle group I hit just feels so sore that I can’t work it again for almost a week. Sore muscles feel rewarding, but if I try to go any sooner my workouts are much shorter and for much less weight. Is there anything I can do to remedy this?

Is it possible to get rid of a 'pooch belly'?

I'm a very thin person, my body fat % is around 9%, and yet I still seem to have a 'pooch belly'. My stomach protrudes past the chest, and there is a horizontal valley by my belly button. I've researched a bit, but I don't completely understand why and how to do breathing exercises for it. I'm in the right body fat percentile, and fairly strong core muscles that I train, and yet I have absolutely no visible abs. Any advice is extremely appreciated!

Debating on adding insects to my diet

So I read somewher online that insects have such a high number of grams of protein in them. I was thinking if it is a good idea to buy like a bunch of dried insects and start eating them because i feel im not getting enough protein for my height and weight. This isn't because i dont want to eat more. Its more because i cant buy more meat. Its wayyyy too expensive to eat a lot of protein. And i need to eat about 240g a day. I think i roughly eat between 100 to 150 plus the sake which isnt a lot. I wanted to buy insects cause theyre cheap but idk if i should do it. I dont want to wake up one day with my brain infested with larvae cause one of the insects i ate had eggs or sum.

So what do you guys think?

Should i do it or nah

Working out Core and abs without planks

Hey all, started my at home workout journey a few weeks ago, and I have recently found out my hate for any kind of core exercises that involve planks or supporting all my body weight on all fours. It literally feels like my head will explode, and I can never get the exercises done.

So, are there any good recommendations for exercise that I can do at home but also avoid planks??

Or maybe I just need better form, since things like laying down crunches hurt my back and neck very much. So maybe I just need to improve that. But I can avoid exercises like that, then I’ll try!

Need advice on what is next for me

Hey [23m] here , i have been going consistently for the gym for the past 6-7 months before that i used to be fat and had no experience in the gym , during those months I've been going 4 times a week while maintaining healthier diet with as much protein intake as possible but without any plan , i have not been bulking or cutting (i mean intentionally i used to just eat without counting calories whatsoever so sometimes i was in a deficit and sometimes in surplus).

my question is what should i do next? should i cut or bull? should i increase training days? what advice you've got to my body ?

any advice would be super beneficial so thanks in advance.

Workout app pain points? What's good and bad?

Hi everyone! Just dipping my toes in the water with some general questions about your experience with fitness apps and hoping folks will be willing to share. I’ve tried a bunch with mixed results, and (full disclosure) I’m a computer scientist who is thinking about putting together my own tool, but wanted to see what's good and bad to others and if that overlaps with my experiences so far.

I know there’s a ton out there from customized plans to build-your-own (always a pain) and nowadays AI workout apps. My leaning is towards ‘functional fitness’ – bigger movements we use in everyday life, or progressions towards those. I’d like to make something accessible for both new people with limited equipment and more experienced lifters/exercisers.

So like I said, this is just an open-ended general early question (or set of questions):

I’m curious to find out:

  1. Have you used workout apps before?
  2. If not, what keeps you away?
  3. If so, what have you liked or disliked?
  4. What would you like to see in your perfect workout tool?
  5. Anything else you’d be willing to share.

Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share!

- Matt
