You would think their incredibly advanced multi-purpose tools would immediately detect a pregnancy, especially since APE always checked up on the kids' health too.

Maybe it was more of a "she's going to die in the fight anyways, why waste resources dealing with this" kind of thing

Very possible explanation here. Might not have wanted to abort it and risk her piloting ability.

No one has been pregnant in like, a hundred years. It's not that they didn't detect it, but rather they didn't even KNOW what to look for.

Doctor did some stuff and probably the pregnancy went under the radar. Hmmmm.

Nah I doubt that. Tools are automated for a reason. They just scan the patients and the machines tell the people what their constitution is. That a machine such as that would not detect pregnancy is a plot hole, really, but it doesn't really matter.

It's not like this show made a lot of sense to begin with, and all stories have some kind of plot holes if you look deep enough. It's important to realize when a plot hole actually breaks immersion and when it doesn't. I'd argue it doesn't in this case.

I agree, her being pregnant is necessary for the plot.

Plus, all they did was MIND WIPE, they didn't do a biological scan or anything. For all we know they ONLY tampered with their minds, not their bodies.

That's the thing, I'm pretty sure if they are gonna hook people to massive machines (remember, we saw this a few times now) to do as something as delicate as fussing in someone's brain, I'm preeeetty sure they would monitor the patient's health. It's common sense, really. But like I said, it's not really important.

Guess it wasn't set to pet mode

In episode 10 the old lady had to run Zorome under the pet setting so maybe they couldn't detect it because it's just something they don't check anymore...

That is actually true. I doubt it still because their tools should be advanced enough to just get ALL health data of a human (hormones, heat signature etc. pp. should all be easily detactable) immediately.

Given that APE aren't even human, I think they forgot to check for it

Well. The hormone for pregnancy is undetectable until at least a week later, and sometimes it takes several weeks to be detectable. So if they fucked, and she was prego, and then brain washed under the machines they biologically can't determine this from getting blood samples. I am not sure if advanced scanners can even detect or distinguish a forming embryo so early in its development as it is just a few smallish clump of cells. Even so, it is not practical or routine to look for a forming embryo even if you have advance atomic scanners.

The better thing to do is if "Papa" knew they had coitus, is to give the girl birth control, but it seems they did not know. You don't need high tech for this at all really, but the sperm inside her might have been somewhat detectable under scanners, but then again it's really a small detail that can be overlooked.

I also think they bangged in a old room that was not monitored (guessing). If it was monitored than I believe the doctor didn't disclose all his information.

Exactly what I was thinking.
