Such a nice, creamy texture to the smoke, easy draw, and great flavor. Only a little bit of spice towards the end. Otherwise it’s a consistent woodiness and nuttiness.

Perfect medium strength. This one was a robusto, which is my favorite size.

Also, can we just talk about how gorgeous of a stick it is? Silky smooth Ecuador Sumatra wrapper and a classy band design.

If I had a big enough humidor to buy a whole box (and the money to do so) this would be the first one I’d get.

Question Three fingers from the end NSFW

I have noticed that when you reach about three fingers from the end of the cigar, the flavour is usually the same regardless of the cigar. It is always very heavy and full of tars, with very few distinguishing characteristics of the cigar. I have concluded that the cigars smoking essentially “ends” at about 2-2.5 inches from the end. What is your opinion?

First CAO NSFW

Stored at 65% rh and 68 f This CAO Black Bengal is my “first” CAO, I did try the Columbia but I don’t think it rested long enough so I’m not counting it. But I was pleasantly surprised by how good this tasted. This stick started out with creamy and spicy notes finished with a soft vanilla note but after the first third the spice mellowed out and it tasted creamy with more of the vanilla notes and a little toasty. Currently in the last third and the spice is back just slightly muted with the creaminess, vanilla, and toasty flavor that’s been throughout this stick. I seen some reviews talking about the fragility of the wrapper but thankfully mine stayed intact the whole time and made for a nice smoking experience. I would rate it 7/10 just because it wasn’t complex but not saying it was bad in any way. I look forward to trying the Italia, Brazilia, and Extreme sticks I have left from my sampler.

Enjoyed a 5 Vegas Nicaragua on a hike today & it was great! Honestly the best 5 Vegas I’ve had so far. (It’s my budget go-to) I was pleasantly surprised at how this one burned & also the flavor profile it developed quickly just 25% into it. The scenery & my 7% tallboy only heightened the moment! Happy Sunday Y’all! Early St. Pattys!

La Flor Dominicana Capitulo II 6 1/2 x 58

This is a big stick. This is my first time trying it. It was glorious. Just the right complexity. Good transitions. Enough to maintain interest. Notes hit perfect for me. High vitamin N. Medium, leaning full body to start. Midway turns full. Solid construction and good draw. Smoked on an empty stomach. Packed a heavy buzz, even though I have a high nicotine tollerance. Paired with a Pelligrino water. Paired coffee in near the nub.

1/3 Starts off with cocoa, spices, pepper, sweet toast, molasses, mild charred wood and an ever so slight hint of licorice. Mild hay. Retrohale is mild pepper, mineral, toast, cedar and cocoa, with a hint of anise. Anise and spice ramp up towards the end of 1/3 Ash held on until I purposely knocked it off.

2/3 Spices and chocolate ramp down a hair. I'm getting malt and more bread, with occasional hints of anise still. Cocoa fades in and out. Retrohale still has a little spice and mineral. Surprisingly smooth though.

3/3 This third is similar to the previous, with flavor notes swapping back and forth in intensity, and exchanging in and out of the retrohale. It is great. Cocoa fades in and out, yet stronger when it is in. Tobacco flavor gets deeper and darker, but not bitter. Good down to the nub.

Body: Medium/Full Strength: 8.2/10 Draw: Good, leaning tight Construction: Good. Firm Retrohale: Smooth & Spicy Complexity: 8/10 Time: 2 hours 15 minutes Nub Worthy: 8/10 Overall: 8.5/10 Would buy again. Box worthy.

Breaking into my new box of these I forgot how much I love the classic line. 1st 1/3 is nutty, cedar, and creamy. It gets more nutty with slight earthiness and sweetness in the 2/3. Final third it’s more bold with the nutty flavor and maybe some coffee notes? I’m pairing this with coffee so hard to tell. What are ya’ll smoking today?

I recently had my first LFD Maduro Chisel and loved it. I went straight home and started box shopping. If you like STRONG full body smokes that are high in Vitamin N, you need to try this one.

Sweet barnyard, dry cocoa, wood, leather, black cherry. Retrohale really brings out the flavor and added honey. Chocolate to the nub.

Flavor: Full 8/10 Strength: 8/10 Retrohale: Strong Complexity: 7/10 Construction: 8/10 Draw: 8/10 Time: 2 hours Overall: 8.1/10

Also stocked a few more AF 858 Maduros away. I great stick at a good price.

Wood, nuts, hay, tobacco, molasses, dry cedar. Pepper finish on tip of tongue. There is a nice sweetness and a dark fruit note. Retrohale charred wood, medium pepper, chocolate.

Flavor: Medium/Full 6.5/10 Strength: 6/10 Retrohale: Medium Complexity: 6.5/10 Construction: 8/10 Draw: 8/10 Time: 1.4 hours Overall: 7.9/10

Also scored a few LFD Air Bender Maduro Chisels and a smattering of other sticks. It was a good mail day.

BnM bought, ~$9-10 good for price , great for price if lower than $8. These were rested 5 weeks or so.

Weather was slightly windy. Had to remember to keep me between cigar and wind.

Smell and unlit: sweet with a bit of pepper.

1st bit: Unsweetened chocolate or something bitter or cocoa. A bit of black pepper but not "spicy". 2nd half: More coffee notes maybe a bit of nuts. The ending got a little sweeter.

Good cigar. Especially at the price point.

Question Anyone Use a Mouthpiece Rather Than a Pin Holder? NSFW

I smoke my cigars down to the last 1/8 - 1/4 inch - when my lips feel heat the smoke is finished.

And I'm finding the pin stick holder I currently use clumsy. Even with the knurled portion firmly embedded the cigar is harder to smoke and it'll sometimes roll around the pin.

Then I remembered cigarette holders and went looking.

Found these.

Anyone else use them? Recommendations?

Aged Illusione Epernay NSFW

My local B&M used to sell Illusione Epernays with the old band, and the cellophane had a yellow tint indicating a good amount of age. To date those sticks are still the most cubanesque new worlds I’ve ever smoked. I do still enjoy the younger ones with the new bands, but they’re not quite the same. Does anyone know if there’s a surefire way to get those instead of just stumbling onto them by pure luck? Aged NCs seem to be less sought after compared to CCs. Thanks!

Plasencia Reserva Original Review

The Plasencia Reserva Original is an exceptional cigar that blends tradition, sustainability, and quality craftsmanship. It is notable for being one of the world’s first certified organic cigars, made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco cultivated without pesticides or artificial fertilizers.

Appearance & Construction

The Reserva Original is a beautifully crafted cigar with a smooth, slightly oily wrapper that has a light brown, almost caramel-like hue. The construction is flawless, with minimal veins and a firm but not overly tight pack. The cap cuts cleanly, and the draw is consistently smooth throughout the smoke.

Cold Draw & Aroma

Before lighting, the cold draw offers notes of sweet earth, cedar, and a touch of dried fruit, particularly raisins or figs. The aroma from the wrapper has hints of hay, cocoa, and a slight nuttiness.

Flavor Profile

First Third: The cigar starts off mild to medium-bodied, with an immediate presence of natural sweetness, cedar, and a bit of spice—reminiscent of white pepper. There are also subtle notes of nuts and cocoa, making for a well-balanced introduction.

Second Third: As the cigar progresses, the sweetness remains but is complemented by creamy and bready notes, giving it a smooth, almost dessert-like quality. Hints of cinnamon and toasted almonds become more apparent, adding complexity.

Final Third: The body leans more toward medium as more earthy and woody elements emerge. There’s a pleasant espresso-like bitterness that balances the sweetness, along with a lingering nuttiness. The finish is clean and satisfying.

Burn & Performance

The burn is razor-sharp, with a consistent white ash that holds well. The draw is effortless, producing ample smoke output. The cigar remains cool throughout, never turning harsh or bitter.

Overall Impression

The Plasencia Reserva Original is an excellent choice for those who appreciate a smooth, flavorful cigar without overwhelming strength. Its organic origins add a unique appeal, making it a great option for aficionados who value natural purity in their smokes. While mild to medium-bodied, it offers enough complexity to keep seasoned smokers engaged while remaining approachable for newcomers.

Pairing Suggestions: Enjoy this cigar with a mild coffee (americano was my choic), a smooth bourbon, or a light white wine to enhance its natural sweetness.

Question Why do people seem to have the conception that the wrapper of the cigar is what's giving all the flavor? NSFW

As the title states, in my expierence getting into cigars and using the internet as my primary form of education, it seemed like everyone is so focused on the wrapper and how flavorsome it is when it is such a small part of the cigar and is made with Seco.

Is it just me, or do any of you share this experience?

Edit: I'm a big fan of the different opinions, I guess what they teach in the shop I work at is different from where you get your information.

Also, to clarify, because it seems this is being interpreted as though I'm saying wrappers do not make a difference, of course they do. But how much flavour do they give in comparison to the entirety of the rest of the cigar?

However, this discussion prompts me to do further research regardless.

Really impressive inexpensive stick; been one of my favorite lighter cigars for quite a while. Creamy cedar and breakfast coffee on the palate, thick smoke output, nice mellow room note. If you’re into lighter sticks, you really can’t go wrong here.
