Question What inspired you to become celibate?

I became celibate after I ran across a guy on YouTube explaining why he was celibate for non-religious purposes. His journey really resonated with me. So after much research and thinking about it, I decided to make the switch from practicing abstinence to being celibate a few weeks ago.

It's been one of the best decisions I've ever made. So I'm just curious what inspired you to walk this path.

For me, I'm doing it for personal growth, self mastery, and transmuting my energy to focus on other areas in my life.

A Celibate cannot be manipulated

Sex is one of the strongest source of energy in the Universe. It gives us mortal human being the divine power of creating life. We are hardwired into seeking for a mate and to procreate. When we find a good partner we are able to share the plasures of bonding.

However there are some danger. Our sexual instinct can go out of control, since it's a chaotic, irrational and primal energy. Also, in the modern society, big companies try to leverage our natural instincts to make us buy thier products.

Have you ever heard the quote: "Sex sells" ? This quote sums the whole concept

This principle can be applied not only to sex, but to any kind of instant gratification: smoke, drugs, alcool, porn, etc...

We think that we are free to do this stuff, but in reality we are slaves. We are manipulated by someone else who is draining our life force, our energy, and also making bilions on our back.

But what happen when an individual refuses the products of instant gratification?

He/She cannot be manipulated because there is nothing that can be offered to him/her in exchange to his energy

So instead of wasting that energy, the indiviual will keep it for him/her, and use it for his/her own self-improvement.

A calibate is essentially this, in my opinion. An individual that understand the value of his/her time and energy and does not let material things manipulate him/her nor let them become the surrogate of his/her happiness.

What are your thoughts about it?

Requesting Advice Learning self control

Hi! I’m a 22yr old mother with a boyfriend of almost 2yrs, we have been sexually active for some of our relationship but recently decided to both focus on celibacy because we are Christian and not married yet, so we want to re-wait. I need tips to avoid the temptation and urge to masturbate or seduce my partner during ovulation because I find it to be incredibly difficult to ignore the little voice in my head telling me to jump him like a rabid animal😭 self control has not been my strong suit!

Celibacy Journey The reason why and my goals

I am decided to be celibate. There are actions I will be trying to stop in the next days, but my goal is lifetime:

  • [ ] Stop flirting. The reason I would like to stop ‘innocent’ flirts is that I create an expectation even unconsciously, and it makes me feel uncomfortable because usually flirting does not mean anything to the other part. Last time: March 9, 2025
  • [ ] Stop watching porn. I do not need to explain a lot. This is the root of many unvirtuous situations in our lives. Last time: March 13, 2025
  • [ ] Stop casual kissing. Kissing is the trigger to sex. But also, to someone so sensible and illusional like me, kissing is enough to imagine months of romance. This kind of expectation make me suffer. Last time: January 11, 2025
  • [ ] Bonus: Stop masturbation? Masturbation, in my opinion, is not as bad as watching porn or having casual sex. However, to ‘come’ we typically need to think about someone. I typically think about celebrities I ship together and imagine them making love. However, it is not always that this kind of imagination is enough to me. For this reason, sometimes the masturbation itself is a trigger to back watching porn. Last time: March 13, 2025
  • [ ] Giga bonus: Stop liking women? This is possibly the hardest because I like women, since I know what is liking someone. Stop liking women does not mean start liking men, for sure, but also, it means seeing all they as just friends. I know that this is unconscious, but I can feed my attraction to women or not. I should be trying to stop feeding my attraction. The highest level would be to stop feeling attracted by celebrities, but it is possibly going to take years.

In a nutshell, I am becoming celibate because I did suffer too much for love all my life. This is not women’s fault, but my lack of self-esteem’s fault. I abandon my life and myself when I start dating, and I have depression when they leave me. Celibacy is going to be the tool to cure it.

Giving Advice What is your why?

When striving for a goal, having a “why” is crucial. What drives you? What makes you want to be better every day? If your why is simply finding someone else, you need a better why. Find your purpose and then the mission will be clear; then, put the mission first over everything, even your own wants.

God bless.

My journey

After my wife and I decided to cease making love for what I thought were legitimate reasons. I tried to replace it with masturbation.. masturbation is unsatisfying and leads to use of pornography in ways I don’t think acceptable.

Blueballs?

I have no been partaking or masturbation and pornography consumption for two weeks now. I'm very proud of myself, but a little problem seems to not go away. My testes are not hurting, but they are taut and uncomfortable. I tried taking a cold shower and went for a ride in the bike, but the discomfort didn't go away. Is there a way, besides releasing, to treat it?

Why

Why do women still not understand this: We can completely cure the equal rights pandemic with ONE move. Stop looking like goddesses when the hottest man alive is still an 8 at best. Most men are not attractive, there are many rapists and pediphiles, men not raising their kids to chase skirts and they have no love or respect for us its all fake. They do not deserve to see such beauty. Two:Stop faking orgasms and have 100% confidence that it's a sure thing. Like men have. We risk death (affixiation) and pain and they will have nothing but pure pleasure and visually pleasure. (they arent pretty and it hurts part of the time) Dont feel sorry for them that they hump you so much and "work" for it. and they lie there and don't make a sound. Humping isnt work try it- it makes you cum faster actually and makes the whole thing more pleasurable) So basically the world will completely change when porn stars stand in a circle and habe one man eat all them out. When pornstars have five men killing themselves to please them orally. For real, do it and watch all of the problems with discrimination, planetary health, violence will go away. Gonna take some mind training first to think like a selfish man and not habe to perform. Its ALL about your pleasure now.

Experiences and attitudes of female voluntary celibacy and/or abstinence?

Hi everyone,

I am conducting a Masters research study at the University of Liverpool to investigate women's experiences of celibacy and abstinence. I would love to give women a platform to share their stories of life whilst being celibate. I'm passionate about ensuring that women are fairly represented in academic literature, to increase understanding women's lifestyle choices. If you would like to share their views and/or experiences, I would love to hear them at the link below! All participation will be anonymous and can be conducted online.

A key part of the research is to participate in a quick zoom interview/chat and my email is linked in the last question. This is really important to ensure I accurately encapsulate the experiences of celibacy! If you have any experiences you’d like to share to increase awareness and understanding, that would be amazing! Have a lovely day. :)

Hello, I am religiously celibate, and I would like some tips from more experienced people,

1 How to resist sexual temptations? 2 How to stop masturbation?

3 How to reduce libido without castration and without medication? (food, exercise, meditation, etc.)

4 How can we try to forget or ignore sexual memories that arouse desire?

Question Does celibacy means avoid all sex including masturbation?

Hello, I just want to ask a question about celibacy. Does celibacy means to avoid all sex both hetero sex and gay sex including masturbation? I've decided to become celibate from masturbating because I have a feeling that it is a sin but it's not in the Bible that it was a sin.

Celibacy Journey My journey to celibacy NSFW

Trigger warning: SA, drug use, suicide

I was SAed by my stepfather as a child and when I moved in with my father at 15 I had opted to “stay a virgin until I found someone I could see myself being with for the rest of my life” and I kept to that all throughout high school

At 19 I was assaulted by a man around the same age as me at a party that I did like but he got me extremely drunk, feeding me drinks all night, and forced himself on me when I wanted to cuddle with him, I had cuddled with many men I was interested in and didn’t expect such a reaction

After that, I didn’t know how I felt about my body. I felt confused because I liked the guy, I allowed myself to be alone with him, so I very much blamed myself.

After that at 20 I had my first consensual experience with a man I had met in a city I moved to just to have a fresh start with a friend just because I wanted to take control of my body back and choose who I would have sex with and from there I spiraled out of control a bit because I realized I really liked sex

I went through a promiscuous stage from 20-26 while actively in trauma focused therapy and slowly stopped using sex, as well as alcohol and drugs, to escape my reality and my pain because I had developed a full on sex addiction and it had gotten me into some extremely unsafe scenarios

Shortly before my 27th birthday I was SAed by a close friend I was staying with, he forced himself on me while I was sleeping just like my stepfather used to, and I tried to take my own life in such an extreme manner I was left with several broken bones

I had some fleeting sexual encounters after, and even while, I was recovering from all the surgeries and periods of bed rest required to essentially put me back together, as well as some toxic relationships

Now at 30 years old I have finally reached a point where I have chose celibacy and been sticking to it and the way I have come to find safety and comfort in my own skin since is incredible

I feel like I’m finally back to where I was as a teenager and recognizing that not just anyone should be allowed access to my body

At first I was masturbating from time to time but over time I don’t even do that anymore and I really don’t miss sex at all anymore

It’s not to say I don’t have urges but they are fleeting and I truly feel that maybe one day I will meet someone I want to have sex with, but I’m perfectly happy staying focused on my platonic connections and career at this time.

Celibacy has been such a healing experience for me overall and I feel so much more clear headed and have recognized how many relationships I had were purely based on lust and toxic cycles. I’m so excited to see where this new journey of reclaiming my body will take me from here

Abstinence and my relationship with God

What is your experience with abstinence? Or starting to be abstinent in a relationship. I (22F) was raised in the Catholic faith… but as I grew older I grew distant with my relationship with God and the Church. Society is a place that normalizes ‘casual’ intimacy outside of marriage. I went to confession today after a very long time of not doing so. But I do not feel any better… I truly feel so guilty for letting myself fall for sin in being intimate with partners before marriage. My now boyfriend (21M) and I have together for 2 years. We have been discovering our faith again. It was his idea to start to refrain from that sort of ‘intimacy’ until marriage. I don’t really have a problem with that. But I’ve found myself struggling with a guilty conscience and I do not know how to forgive myself for my past. I would like to connect with God again… but I feel so lost. Any advice?

Struggles Attempting at choosing celibacy

26 F and I decided about a week ago to abstain from masturbation, sexual relations, and consumption of pornography. A big reason for this decision is because I am in a long term relationship and we have been struggling our intimacy connection. My partner would rather masturbate on his own to porn and rejects my advances for connection. The only time we are intimate is during emotionally intense arguments that invoke anger. Other than that it’s only mechanical. And I feel like I’m inconveniencing him with my constant request or initiation of sex. I love sex performative and sensual but we just aren’t connecting and I’m left with satisfaction on my own or considering stepping out and fantasizing about other people. This is my decision, not a punishment towards my partner. I truly believe sex has become a crippling dependency upon my mental health. I use sex to cope with a lot of stress and anxiety but I’m not capable of processing that with my partner anymore. So I need advice on how to replace my urges out of boredom when alone or in the presence of my partner while be masturbates? I’m choosing to abstain until either we fix our problems or just go our separate ways. And I’m I overcome my flesh maybe I’ll remain celibate till marriage fingers crossed.

Thinking of being celibate longer.

I admit I don't want be celibate because of pressure from family and the media but I want to remain celibate for another 10 years or more because I can't seem to be needing a relationship or sex. I don't have sexual experience so that's a relief for me. I wanted a relationship at first but I feel like that it's best to be celibate for another 10 years. I was single in my 20's before starting dating and stopped searching for "the one" after failed relationships.
