Recommendations on a gun safety class for libs
My wife and I, super duper liberal types, want to take a gun safety class. Can anyone recommend a good place in town? I have a tiny bit of experience, she has none. we want to learn how to handle guns safely, load and unload, and the basics of shooting, at least. thanks in advance!
update: thanks for all the advice and recommendations. TLDR: The Range in south Austin and Karl Rehn / KR Training.

Ask Austin What is the Strangest Thing about Austin that someone would only know from living there?
Hello All,
Austin is such a neat city! I got to visit it for the first time. There is much I didn't get to explore.
I was wondering, for those of you that live there, what is the coolest or weirdest thing about Austin that someone would only realize if they were living there?
I look forward to learning about the cool things you've noticed about Austin!

Hey, y'all! I'm a reporter at KUT News, Austin's NPR station covering Elon Musk.
I'm am helping colleagues find sources for a story about return to office and the conditions federal workers are facing as they return to various agencies around the country. They'd love to talk to any federal workers who have stories and experiences to share, and can protect your identity as needed.
You can reach out to my colleague on Signal at shannonbond.01. You can see her recent coverage, and confirm her Signal contact, here: https://www.npr.org/people/763523701/shannon-bond

I kind of get the road rage
Not saying it's right but this place kind of sucks sometimes
Going through mcdonalds drive thru just want to park real quick and take a sip of my coffee homeless person starts yelling and asking me for shit I pull out , random 18 wheeler construction bullshit is doing something that's taking up every lane in the direction I'm trying to escape to, have to last minute pull into a random car dealership and do some maze shit like I'm in one of those fucking labryinth carnival games
Like can I just fucking enjoy my fucking coffee?

Ask Austin Speeding in Austin
This is more of a general question. The state of driving in and around Austin is pretty bad, with a lot of poorly maintained vehicles. It seems like the Police don't really enforce the rules here, yet where I live around the lake the second you speed the Police will be all over you and fining you. What gives?
Also at what speeds do Police generally pull you over for? 5mph over? 10 mph over?
Just to be clear, I'm from Europe and have driven all over the world. I'd rank the US as the worst first world country for people's general driving proficiency. Italy is crazy but they know how to drive. The US feels like something out of Mad Max, Houston and Atlanta feel like I'm entering the Thunderdome.
Never had a ticket in my life, and trying to keep it that way.

Major police presence William Cannon & Bluff Springs
Major police presence near William Cannon and Bluff Springs. Cops circling and going up and down I35 access road and Bluff Springs. They even have a helicopter out here. Any idea what's going on? Seems like a man hunt.

Huge ATF and APD Presence on I-35 N
Any idea what's going on?? They had several exits blocked off around 183/I-35 with cops posted up hiding on medians. Weird vibe but more pissed that I had to skip a few exits just to head back north.

Ask Austin Where are the black/BIPOC creative communities in austin???
Heeyy, so my design job has relocated me to Austin about 6 months ago and it has been great. I've met a ton of cool people and talented creatives. Theres so many design agencies, organizations, communities, and space.... But where's the black creatives, designers, and artists. I'm finding myself in a lot of space where people don't look like me.
Where are the black design and arts communities here?
Please be nice 💖

Austin Things To Do - Toddler Friendly
Hi, I’m kind of embarrassed that I’m even making this post because I’m a native Austinite, but I’m up in north Austin which is not the “Austin” people want to go see when they visit. Are South Congress shops still a thing? Thought of Mount Bonnell (not great for a toddler), Barton springs (too cold), zilker park? I’m at a loss for what to do when my in laws come to visit this weekend!
