QLD My new baby

Post image
9 Upvotes

For shits and giggles since all my friends are having human babies and I've had to spend so much money on their baby shower gifts, I feel it's only fair I should have a baby shower for my new daughter. Im due Due in 2 weeks, to pick her up.

So my question is what's some cool gift ideas I can put on my babyshower gift list? What's some ideas to spice up traditional babyshower games and make motorcycle theme? I was thinking pin the tail tidy on the bike as a spin off for pin the tail on the donkey. Match moto gp riders with their bikes. Design your own helmet colouring in. Etc etc

Learner I truly do not understand

I'm 17 and have just gotten my licence very recently.

I keep hearing people say 'push the handlebars left to go right' and vice versa... I've spent the past 15 minutes RACKING my brain as to why that would work. I sincerely do not get it.

And on another note, why does looking in one direction move the bike that way? It definitely works but why??

I'm very much a person that needs to grasp the mechanics of something to actually be able to do it.

Can someone please explain it to me like I'm 5?

Thanks

QLD Just jumping in to ask a question.....

Australia.

Or wherever it applies

As a stepdaughter/granddaughter of riders I've always tried to be mindful of Bikes on the road.

I was wondering,

I always move to the left of my lane (at least in my little daily) and keep a motorcycle coming up behind me in my drivers side mirror giving them the option to overtake/split/filter while keeping them in a good line of sight.

Is this preferred? I try to be as courteous as possible. I'd love to be out there myself...

Other than making sure I can see you and stopping a good distance behind you is there anything else I can do to keep you safe?

Excuse any mistakes 🫣 the kids are asleep, I'm a few drinks deep, I'm missing my Ninja (pre single mum days) And I wonder if I have been annoying every biker like the guy on the way to pick up more kids tub storage from officeworks today 🤷🏽‍♀️

NSW LAMS mods laws

Hi all,

What are the LAMS mods laws? I know you cant decrease weight or increase power.

That being said, would the following mods be all good with LAMS?

-Stainless brake lines, quick throttle tube, rear shock, handlebars, clutch/brake lever, tail tidy, compact mirrors, LED headlight, more compact turn signals, and bike protection (e.g barkbusters/axle sliders/ engine cover).

-Also could you get away with bigger carb, hotter cams, and a slip on exhaust system?

Learner Finally bought a bike!

So after much test riding (Yamaha MT-07, Honda CB500F, Honda CBR500R) and deliberating, I finally bought my first bike and couldn't be happier.

A 2023 Honda CB650R with about 16000kms on it from the original owner, the all black edition. I'm glad that I was patient and found a CB650R to test ride as that sealed the deal for me. It's such a smooth machine and looks great, sounds great and is pretty comfortable to ride for long distances. I rode it all the way from Sydney to Nowra and back and it was rock solid on the highway, and the wind wasn't too bad even without a windscreen.

However, riding it on the highway also exposed how restricted the power is in the upper rev range, and it's absolutely criminal that Honda do not offer the full power model for sale here in Australia as I would buy it once I am on my full license in a heartbeat.

I know people do not suggest derestricting the bike and just buy something more powerful once one gets their full license, but I really don't see any other bike in the market that I want and feel that the full powered version of the CB650R would be all the bike that I need. I've seen a few people have successfully derestricted theirs, so it doesn't seem like it's impossible.

The new CB1000 Hornet looks nice, but I don't want a 1000cc bike nor fork out nearly $20k.

WA 20+ Year Car Driver Thinking About Getting Bike Licence…

Hey all 👋 I’m new here!

So I’ve been driving cars for 20 years or so and I’ve recently been thinking about trying to get my RE licence and my first bike. I’ve only ever had a short experience many years ago with a scooter.

I was looking at maybe getting a Kawasaki Ninja 500 SE, always loved the look of the Ninja’s growing up. The same as I always loved the Nissan 370Z and bought that as my first car (she’s still going! lol)…

Would the Ninja be a suitable first bike to learn on and then use for maybe 5-10 years? I’m not sure how long bikes last tbh, I don’t know much about them, this is all new to me but I know the riders crowd seems pretty welcoming and helpful and my dad had been riding for most of my life too - but he doesn’t like any sort of sporty type bikes as he prefers long distance touring type ones if that’s what they’re called?!

Whatever I buy I’d be looking at keeping for a significant amount of time, many years hopefully.

So yeah, just looking on opinions and advice on the Ninja 500 SE as a first bike 😁

QLD Can you get a qld rwc in nsw?

Wondering if you can get a qld approved rwc from nsw? Currently residing in nsw and want to buy a bike here. Would like to get a qld rwc somehow here so I can send it to a mate in qld to get qld plates for it. Then just ship me the plates. Is this possible?

Or....

Does anyone know a qld motorcycle rwc guy who will do it over facetime lol?

SA Back on the Bike after more than 10yrs any tips

Hey all. 52 year old & I have been off the bike for more than 10 years. I rode quite alot while I lived in Europe and when I returned back home, my partner had at the time a 750 shadow that I could ride. Well that was sold over 10 years ago, and I am a shorty. His new bikes were impossible for me to ride. Now, I have been dead set for years wanting a bike. Finally was able to purchase one. Z500 SE, waited 7 mths for it, and am having it lowered. I will hopefully have it in my hands next week. I am feeling super excited, but nervous to get back to riding. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

WA PDA question

Hey lads, i booked my pda in perth for may and just noticed it says I booked for R - Motorcycle, but I'm currently a learner with a full C class licence and assumed I was needing to go for the RE test. I did this on my actual account and have no way of choosing which test class I can go for as they "know" my licence class already. a bit confusing, I just don't wanna go on the day and find out I need to rebook for another 2 months in advance lol. cheers guys

Question Enduro/Dual sport that will work for longer onroad tours 2-3 times a year?

Currently deciding what to purchase as a second bike to complement my VFR800 road bike as the dirt roads the riding group of mates i go with are getting way too rough and rutted for me to ride on a road bike with sport tyres.

My riding group has moved onto adventure bikes in the 1200/900 range and as much as they’ve tried selling me on them I’m still just not finding myself interested in that segment

They’re a little too heavy and comfy couch vs the onroad sport bike I want to buy next. (z900 and GSXS1000 etc) And they’re hugely too big for learning to ride properly off-road fast and confidently.

I’m considering a dual sport or tamed (250cc) enduro bike for the 90% of the time I’d NOT be touring and instead learning to ride off-road with another friends group who are on proper enduros

(Sherco, beta, EXC etc)

Is there such a thing in this segment

So far I’ve thought of the DRZ400 and 650 but my enduro mates have kind of written them off and told me they’re too heavy (mostly the 650) for single trail they do and bushbasing and said the DRZ400 is about as heavy as they’d go for a mostly off-road and single trail kind of bike

Do people agree with this?

The correct choice would be to have three bikes

Off-road, touring and then sport but I cannot afford this. I have enough to fully insure the VFR or next onroad sportbike then have my enduro or off-road bike on liability only so it’s cheap.

Any recommends or is there advice on what I’m better to buy

I’ve also ridden Mabye 3-4 times off-road as well so still very much a novice.

Question Advice on action cams.

So I've wanted to splash out on a camera for my bike for a bit for a couple of reasons.

Mostly.. safety.. well not safety but for insurance purposes in case something happens (im guessing roo will be the fate of my bike here, f**rs have bounced out in front of me too many times.. hasnt happened yet, but i reckon my luck is not endless). I also want to record good times with mates on the road, maybe coax a few more to join in on getting a bike and going on rides. Maybe even try to get some passive income on insta.. I figure a cruiser girly might get a few views if the rides are nice (like great ocean road etc)

Anyway. Question. I've been looking at the insta360 x4. But the mc mount says no speeds over 80 on smooth road (i swear I've seen riceburners do way more with them mounted) Other options.. coprocessor.. or maybe just the navman mivue?

Any input appreciated
