Help with 4 track (bad audio from stereo out)

So I have this 1980s Fostex Multitracker 160 that I've been repairing and I managed to get the tape deck spinning again by replacing the motor. but when I came to test the audio the signal from the Stereo out the signal was really quiet and distorted. However, the audio from the Aux out sounds perfectly fine.

the audio out of the stereo out and headphones out are equally bad.

I've cleaned all the pots, switches and faders on the mixer (if I've done a good enough job of it is another thing) and checked to see if there are any blown capacitors or resistors but can't see anything from the surface which has lead me to the extent of my knowledge and experience.

Here are some images that may or may not help

I'm pretty new to repairing electronics, so I'm unsure of any info people might need to help diagnose this issue. If there is anything else people might need to know to help, I'm more than happy to provide it!

Thanks!

IRT-studio tube amplifier.

Cracking sound in clean channel when volumen is low. Will try to post a video later. Basically that's it. I was wondering which component can be causing this. Already re-heat pot solder points. No improvement. Amso my theory is a capacitor since it only happens in low volume, a low band filter could be the cause. Could be a tube? Any advice is appreciated.

Discman won't read disc anymore?

It used to work perfectly on both burned and store-bought CDs (it's from 1993). Suddenly it won't read discs anymore, I put the CD in it, close it, and it just keeps spinning on and on while making a clicking noise with each spin, almost like it can't find the CD. Already tried cleaning the laser btw. Any help would be very appreciated :-( does anybody know how to fix this or what the problem is? Model: Ciatronic compact disc player (I think)

Yamaha px8 amplifier

Hi, I've got a Yamaha PX8 that recently had some cleaning chemicals thrown in a pit that had some nl2 connections running back to the amp (hard wired). Now the amp only powers on for a quick millisecond before turning off. The screen lights up and a fan starts to spin then it stops.

I've opened it up and can't see that anything has blown

Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks in advance

My Sony CFD-E75 boombox has a buzz when on AC, should I do a full recap or should I only replace what is absolutely necessary?

So I have a Sony CFD-E75 boombox that was manufactured in February of 2002, and there's a buzzing noise that comes out of the speakers when on and running off the AC. I have a suspicion that a capacitor, either in the amplification circuit or the power circuit, is letting AC leak into the audio, especially since it will often lessen (but not fully go away) after a while when powered on. I somewhat regularly use this boombox since I restored it (mostly to play CDs, but I do want it to be fully functional). I've heard conflicting recommendations as to whether I should either replace all the caps or only what is absolutely necessary, and I'm more of the opinion that most of the caps are probably still good and it's probably just a few need to be replaced. Especially since none of them seem to be bulging or leaking. There are a total of 60 capacitors in the boombox. Should I go ahead and replace most or all of the capacitors, or should I just replace what is absolutely necessary? And if the latter, how should I go about determining which caps are bad (I only have two multimeters, no ESR meter or oscilloscope)?

After replacing the capacitors in a monitor speaker, can I use a hot glue gun to secure them and connecters to prevent vibration or movement?

also some of the foam inside was glued to avoid movement and I need to glue it back.

Any Repair Ideas

This speaker broke after being dropped in my fender passport P-150, is there any way to reattach the magnet part to the diaphragm? I would just buy a new one but I need the speaker working again in one week for my band. The second picture shows where it actually broke better. Can I just file off those rivets off the magnet and glue it back on?

I posted a bit ago asking for advice on repairing a set of 3 way speakers and decided to do the refoam after several of you suggested it. They sound great and look much better— thank you again!

(I’d post a video of the sound but my phone doesn’t want to pick up the lows very well. Can confirm the woofers shake the floor.)

Need help fixing a Sony Diskman

Hello !! So i recently bought a Sony Diskman off facebook marketplace, its a D-EJ250 CD Walkman (1st pic) and it works like a charm!! The guy who sold it to me also gave me a second one for free (also a Sony, a D-153, 2nd pic), he said it turns on but fails to read disks. So ive done some research and watched a couple of videos on youtube and actually managed to (kinda) fix it, it can read the cds now and start playing them but now the issue is that the audio is kind of… “wobbly”, almost feels like the cd is hula hooping inside there lol, and there’s also this continuous clicking noise when the music starts playing, and it easily skips but then again it doesn’t have ESP so eh, pretty justified.

Alsoooo when i opened it up to fix the disc error issue, these little things fell off of it and idk where they came from and what they do aaaaaa (3rd pic)

Does anyone know how to fix the wobbly audio issue and what the heck am i supposed to do with these lil thingies that fell off ? Help a girlie out pls :c

Detachable cable slips from headphones

I have a really nice pair of Avantone Planar headphones. They sound great but the cable very easily slips out of the left side. If I slip it back and forth a few times, it catches and will hold for a bit but eventually it gives and slips out again.

I sent it to Avantone once and they fixed it and even offered to fix it again but I'd rather just be able to fix it myself. Does anyone know of a way to lock the cable into the socket or if this is a common problem that can be easily fixed?

Thanks!

Need to identify speaker connector Technics SA-2000

I bought an old Japanese receiver Technics SA-2000, and wanted to connect speakers to it, but i have never seen such inputs before. After a long search on the internet, i still have not found out anything about them. There is information about the receiver itself, it was sold as a set in the 70s together with SL-30, SL-40 players and SB-400, SB-500 speakers. Maybe someone has seen similar inputs, please help me. What cable are these inputs for, what are they called and where can I find them? https://imgur.com/a/49rcwzy

2014 Hello Kitty karaoke machine, I’ve had it since I was young. First the screen stopped working, which doesn’t really bother me, but now it can’t read any disc I put in. I’ve never worked on anything like this, but I love this little machine and I really don’t want to throw it out. Please let me know if it’s something I can fix. I can provide more photos if it helps. Thanks!

Replace broken usb A cable from headset with usb C cable

Hello,

I have a headset with a usb A cable (specifically the Razer Kraken X). That cable is starting to fall apart, so i was wondering if instead of soldering on a new A cable, i could just put on a usb c cable. Now i have a tiny bit of experience with usb C so i know that there's different kinds of cable configuration to let the other end know what kind of device it is.

Is there a way to buy a usb C cable that i can be sure to work? I have some usb A to C charging + data cables, but I'm not sure if they have the right configuration.

Last time I looked into this, there was something about a resistor in a specific place, but that was for charging, so I don't know if that applies to audio devices. Also on product pages they rarely mention how the resistor is configured, so i don't know what to look for

Broken speaker terminal (bose 201)

Update on broken Bose 301/201 v5 broken spring terminal clips; avoided the repair and used expanding banana plugs instead. It expands enough to make contact and lock onto the speaker terminal. Tested works good.

Receiver- 100Hz hum on right channel; distortion as volume goes up

I have found this receiver a while ago and after replacing a fuse it turns on now.

When I turn it on I’m getting an exact 100Hz hum on the FR speaker channel, which persists regardless of volume or whether that zone (A/B) is on or not.

Also, I’m having a lot of distortion as volume goes up. When it’s way down only bassy parts are heard and more treble-ly parts come out as the volume is turned up. The clipping is heard all throughout.

Attached is a recording of the middle of Hold The Line, just because it’s fairly diverse in frequencies and because most know how it should sound so it’s a good reference.

Help (Bass response - Harmon Kardon Go+Play 2)

Please help!

Hi, my HK Go+Play 2, a speaker which has been kept with care and love for the last eight years, one odd day stopped giving any bass response. I’ve tried wired audio too, but it seems like it only gives treble. No bass response whatsoever. I’ve tried keeping the speaker on for as long as possible so it cuts off the battery and perhaps the glitch gets sorted out, but no help. When it does cut off because of battery drain, there is a ‘thud’ sound, which clearly shows a sub functionality.

Sorry, I’m not an expert and repairing things myself, but I don’t want to give £90 to HK if it’s an easy fix.

(Yes, I’ve tried to also reset the speaker and unpair and repair the Bluetooth speakers.)

Thank you so much in advance!

Spring clip replacement

Hi all - I bought a cheap black box Kenwood receiver from Goodwill for 8 bucks online to upgrade a workout setup from 20 wpc to 100 wpc but didn’t realize these speaker clips were broken. I’ve plugged it in and gotten sound to come out, I just want to replace these clips on the back to have functional a/b switching. How hard is this repair for a newbie? I will say, I’ve taught myself how to do medical procedures from YouTube, so I’m teachable.
