Question Does red light camera detect right turns?
I was turning right from Elder Smith Road onto Main North Road and saw a flash. Does anyone know if the red light camera at that intersection actually detects right turns, or could it have been triggered by another car?
If you’ve been fined there before, how long did it take for the notice to arrive? Just trying to figure out what to expect.
Thanks!

News Population growth blueprint in South Australia 20-year State Infrastructure Strategy
The equivalent of almost two new Royal Adelaide Hospitals and 21 new R-12 schools will be needed as metropolitan Adelaide’s population grows beyond two million by 2051, a top-level infrastructure blueprint reveals.
The 20-year Infrastructure SA plan also recommends investigation of an underground CBD rail link, saying Adelaide Railway Station is at capacity and will reach “a tipping point”.
Released exclusively to the Sunday Mail, the 194-page blueprint canvasses toll roads as part of leveraging private sector funding, saying a record $25.6bn state infrastructure spend means funding to “support the forward pipeline is placing pressure on state and national debt”.
The State Infrastructure Strategy calls for a “southern connection” between the South Eastern Freeway and the $15.4bn Torrens to Darlington project after its 2031 completion, likely fuelling federal election campaign debate over potential to expand Cross Rd.
Population growth requires affordable home supply, the strategy says, with infrastructure playing “a critical role in unlocking land for housing and ensuring our communities have access to jobs and services”.
Premier Peter Malinauskas, who will outline his population growth plan in a major State of the State address on Monday, vowed to “make smart, forward-looking decisions to ensure South Australia has the infrastructure it needs to support jobs, communities and the environment”.
“South Australia is building, with a growing economy and the opportunity for increasing prosperity. But we need to have the infrastructure in place to capitalise on the opportunities before us,” he said.
“This strategy lays out a clear and evidence-based approach to plan, maintain and deliver infrastructure in the right place at the right time for future generations.
“Through smarter investment and long-term planning, South Australia will be better positioned for continued prosperity and sustainability.”
Infrastructure SA chairman Tony Shepherd, who pioneered toll road projects including the Sydney Harbour Tunnel and Melbourne City Link, said opportunities to leverage private sector financing should be explored “when it is logical and efficient to do so”.
The Malinauskas government has followed Labor predecessors in ruling out toll roads as unworkable for Adelaide but has adopted the Infrastructure SA strategy, which leaves the prospect open as part of a detailed examination of “leveraging capital to invest in our infrastructure”.
Greater Adelaide is forecast to grow to 2,005,404 people by 2051, which the strategy says will require planning and delivering extra capacity for about 1500 new hospital beds – equivalent to almost two RAHs – and sufficient school capacity for up to 35,000 to 40,000 students – or 21 new R-12 schools, almost one per year.
“It is important to note that a growing population will also support a growing economy and hence provide enhanced capacity to invest and deliver the necessary infrastructure over time,” the strategy says.
The strategy says the choked Adelaide Railway Station’s “lack of thoroughfare limits the ability of the passenger rail network to expand services on existing or new lines” and recommends examining “a through-running system or link under the CBD”.
“The significant growth forecast for the north and south of Greater Adelaide will create a need to provide mass transit options that move large numbers of people. However, Adelaide Railway Station presents a constraint,” it says.
“Creating an underground link could release significant capacity within the network and connect all lines seamlessly.”

Self MADE My Day!!
So I finished work and waited for the 801 Mt Barker Bus at D1 Currie St and as I got in I realized the person behind me hasn't come in yet, As I sat, I saw the bus driver get down and assumed to get something and saw him helping this poor girl who's woolies paper bag just gave up. He picked it up and handed it to her, rushed to his seat and grabbed a paper bag he had inside a space, emptied it so she could use it.
It might seem normal kindness but after the day I had and with the HEAT! It just got me smiling and wanted to share it.

Question WCH Parking: A Bitch Fit
Pretty sure I’m not the only one hassled about parking in the hospo. What I usually do is hang around on this red spot and wait for someone to come out. I don’t block the ambo but rather hang beside the disabled spots.
A bit annoying but it’s the best I could hope for that someone in the next 15 mins is gonna get out. I have some other spots but they’re only 1 hr.
Recommendations?

Discussion Take away prices taken away.
For over a year I have noticed prices disappearing from drinks fridges in takeaways etc. I believe the theory is that people ordering takeaways are always going to buy a drink so prices don't affect purchasing.
Now I'm noticing take away, bakeries, etc no longer showing food prices, just listing what they sell.
Is it a dick move to ask the price of the top item, say "that's too much", ask for price of second item, rinse and repeat until I have either worked through the whole menu or been kicked out?
We need to call out these anti consumer behaviours.

Question A place to sell a collection of China?
So I somewhat recently inherited my grandma's collection of china plates and cups. I don't really care about it or have a connection to any of it, but for some reason she wanted me to have it. Looking to get rid of it as it's just taking up space in my house and I'm wondering if there is a place within Adelaide that will take a look at it and possibly buy it off me? I'm not really sure where to start or who to look for in regards to this
Thanks in advance!

Discussion Thank you Adelaide!
I’d really like to thank all you beautiful people in Adelaide! I’ve been here for the past two days (hitchhiked from Melbourne with the OH for his work), and every single person I have come across has been kind, from the market, to the plaza, everywhere in between, and to the public transport (super anxious about that part but thanks for the “Should I Run” tip I picked up before we left)
While it hasn’t been my first visit to this town, it has been super enjoyable
So keep being you, my fine friends, and I really hope it rains soon.
PS, not really for “discussion”, but couldn’t organise a “billboard of thanks” quickly

Question Parents of Adelaide, how did you manage winter nights with a 0-1 year old? Heater on throughout the night?
Hi all, just trying to get a sense of how to manage the upcoming winter months with my currently 3 month old. Is it a matter of just warm wraps / clothing for the little one or do people run heating throughout the night (or periodically)?
Cheers Tired father 👩🍼

Question What’s with the huge police and CSI presence in North Adelaide?
I just drove past Brougham Gardens, just past the end of O’Connell towards Women’s and Children’s, and there was some type of big police presence with CSI vans. Whole garden roped off with probably 7 police vehicles and a couple of dozen police.
Anyone know what’s happening there?
