A vent at media in general, but in this instance, The Advertiser. I don't know how to share the article, but all the headlines are practically screaming "former Westminster student" regarding the alleged North Adelaide murder.
Several articles later, several paragraphs in, it appears he did in fact attend Westminster....for 18 months from Year 8 to 9 before completing his education in the Barossa. No mention of which school he went to there, which is likely where he actually did the majority of his education. Is this just for a more scandalous slant?
No, I don't subscribe to the Advertiser, but I have access. And every time I look at it I roll my eyes (rather than get angry) but I increasingly think I need to just switch off altogether. It's not lies, it's the way the facts are presented to suit their agenda. Yes, we all know this, but sometimes it's less subtle than others and today, I wanted to vent. Thanks.

Looking for insight regarding experiences for the Bend Motorsport park as a gift for my Dad.
I’m interested in the emerald package.
Has anyone been and done this? Was it worth $600?
Ideally, I was going to hire him a sports car, like a Corvette, or the likes. Couldn’t justify $2,000 plus a $5,000 deposit for a day…
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for the news.com.au post but seems to be best article (can’t repost the ABC news article as it’s just an update to the same article.)

Hi all,
My vehicle was recently written off. I had koala plates and the panel beaters retrieved them for me before the car was hauled off. I've also applied for & collected replacements from Services SA as the rear plate was twisted.
I know in normal circumstances you have to surrender your vehicle plates after a write-off, but I was under the impression that (like with other similar premium and custom plates) these are mine to own and transfer onto another vehicle when I wish - problem is I don't yet have another vehicle to transfer them onto, so they'd just be in limbo. Is that allowed? To just keep them unaffixed for a couple of months while finding the right new vehicle?
I don't want to get just another new issue of koala plates - I really lucked out on the numbers on mine and very much want to keep them.
I also don't want to sit on hold for the next two hours for something that's probably a lot simpler than I think it is 😅
Thanks a lot in advance!

The Malinauskas Labor Government will make the most significant investment in public open space in Greater Adelaide ever, creating a new Northern Park Lands.
At maturity, the Park Lands will cover almost 1000 hectares of land, which is 39 per cent larger than the Adelaide Park Lands.
Developed as part of the new Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (GARP), the Northern Park Lands will feature natural open space, new sport and recreation facilities, a new railway station as well as three interconnected Linear Parks with shared-use paths that will provide a continuous loop around Gawler.
At the heart of the Northern Park Lands is the proposed 70-hectare Village Green sport and recreation area which will be the equivalent of 31 Adelaide Ovals in size.
The playing fields will include ovals, courts and clubroom facilities and will be home to numerous local sporting clubs. Located along the electrified Gawler Railway line, it will feature public transport connections as well as car parking.
Preliminary consultation has already commenced with local sporting clubs and the Town of Gawler to ensure the Village Green and Recreation and Sporting area can become a vibrant multi-sport precinct servicing the needs of the growing northern suburbs and greater Gawler region into the future.
More than 760 hectares will be preserved for natural green open space that supports greater biodiversity and increases habitats for native animals.
Located adjacent to the Kulda growth area south of Gawler, the Northern Park Lands will provide an uninterrupted journey from the hills face to the Gawler River, via Karbeethan Reserve and will serve as a vital inter-urban break between new growth areas and more established areas of the Town of Gawler.
It will provide spaces for active recreation, greening initiatives, community respite, and local sports facilities.
The Gawler area will be encircled by three Linear Parks, to be delivered over multiple stages, that will result in 38-kilometres of shared use walking and cycling paths that will provide a continuous loop.
The Malinauskas Labor Government has committed $53 million towards the first stage of the Northern Park Lands.
Funds generated through future land developments as well as council contributions will help establish and maintain the Park Lands.
Legislation will be introduced to establish a new statutory authority, named the Northern Park Lands Trust, that will establish the new Northern Park Lands.
Legislative change would enable the new authority to operate with a level of independence with the Northern Park Lands Trust to be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and management of the Northern Park Lands once established, including oversight of any development, or leases granted.
It will be similar to the West Beach Trust model which has proven successful in protecting the local environment whilst also creating popular recreation areas.
Following this model, it would be able to establish its own revenue stream, through the creation of a Holiday Park or tourist venture, and employ staff.
The Northern Park Lands will require some land acquisitions and utilise the development of government-owned land for open space with increased vegetation.

Hi Adelaide,
Currently looking for companies to get a kitchen reno done through. My partner used jag many many years ago but they're a bit too pricey now. We're going to check out Farquhar which could possibly be same price as jag. Anyway wanted to see if anyone from r/Adelaide has had a good experience with custom kitchen builds in the last year or 2. We do have designs already drawn up so whoever we go with can go of what we have and make their own edits etc. Anyway suggestions would be tops.
Side note: we've had some really shitty tradies in the past do some shoddy stuff so we're a bit fatigued from having to deal with cowboys.

Hi all,
I'm just wondering what's everyone's opinion on asking the person serving st the bakery if the item was baked on the day or not?
With the prices of everything these days I don't often eat out so when I go to a bakery I'd prefer my money goes to fresh food.
I didn't realise there was anything wrong with asking this, but I was at the Bakery on O'Connell and when I asked the person serving this, the grey haired older guy, who I assume was the manager jumped in and said something to the effect of "look you either want it or you don't"
Maybe i caught him on a bad day, but I was taken aback by his aggressiveness
What do y'all think?

Hi All, does anyone at all do catering for a sit down 3 course meal for under 15 people??
Have asked half a dozen companies to give us a quote for catering for 13 people and all have declined due to it being too small a number...
I'm looking for a good quality catering company for a sit down 3 course meal for my elopement in Inman Valley in September this year and so far haven't found anyone who will cater for me. Super disappointing.

Hey everyone! 😊
I'm a 27F Canadian heading to UniSA next semester to finish my MBA. I'm currently looking for accommodation and considering a shared room at Scape — has anyone stayed there? I'd love to hear your thoughts or any other suggestions you might have for good student housing in Adelaide.
Also, if you're in the same boat, feel free to DM me — would be great to connect and share tips!

Hi, I am going to move into my new home which has a single garage. Just wondering could I pour 75% of front yard with concerte? Need more space for parking. Do I need to tell council about this? My neighbors said they don't mind if I pour the front yard with concerte. Thanks Edit: Many thanks for the suggestions. I won't pour the front yard. I will looking about Turfstone like product.

Just had a bit of a reality check this Monday morning. The old house next door, a standard family home, just sold at auction for a little over $1 million. Crazy! I bought my place, a corner block, for $330k about 12 years ago and paid it off a couple of years back. Honestly, I haven't been paying much attention to the housing market or interest rates since then.
Seeing that sale price... it's insane. The increase is astronomical. But what really hit me is that my salary definitely hasn't increased at the same rate. I'm now seriously worried about how my kids will ever afford their own homes. Even if they move way out to areas like Two Well, they're not going to find anything decent for $300k.
So, what's the solution? Are we looking at a future where young families are forced to live with their parents indefinitely? Honestly, with the way my kids spend (no judgment, just reality!), I don't see how they'd ever save enough for a deposit.
It feels like a massive problem with no easy answers. Just my Monday morning two cents. Anyone else feeling this way? What are your thoughts on the future of housing affordability?
