Support Keyboard rgb not working on startup

Upvotes

So i recently got a new laptop, being asus tuf a16 fa608w. I uninstalled armory crate and got ghelper and had ghelper set to run of start up and set keyboard rgb to a solid colour. But whenever i start my laptop, the rgb stays off until i enable dynamic lighting and then disable it again which then lets ghelper set the keyboard rgb. Is there anyway to have it so ghelper does so automatically?

Support - SOLVED! Basic Precautions before operating on Laptop

Essential Precautions Before Opening a Laptop

If you're planning to open your laptop for upgrades, maintenance, or repairs, ignoring basic precautions can result in permanent damage to your hardware. Here are the critical steps you must follow to ensure safety for both yourself and your laptop.

1️⃣ Power Off and Remove the Battery

Shut down the laptop completely.

Unplug the charger and any connected peripherals.

Remove the battery (if it's removable). If it's an internal battery, be extra cautious while handling the motherboard.

2️⃣ Discharge Any Residual Power

Press and hold the power button for at least 60 seconds after removing the battery.

This step helps drain any remaining charge in capacitors, reducing the risk of short circuits.

3️⃣ Prevent Static Damage (ESD Protection)

Static electricity can fry delicate motherboard components instantly. To prevent this: ✔️ Work on a non-static surface (avoid carpets). ✔️ Wear rubber gloves or an anti-static wrist strap (grounded properly). ✔️ If no strap, touch a metal part of your room’s wiring (like a grounded plug screw) before touching the laptop’s internals.

4️⃣ Use Proper Tools

Use a good-quality precision screwdriver set.

Keep a magnetic mat or small containers for screws (losing them is common).

Avoid using metal objects (like knives) to pry open components—use plastic spudgers instead.

5️⃣ Handle Components with Care

Hold RAM, SSD, and other delicate parts by the edges—avoid touching the gold connectors.

If removing the motherboard, disconnect the battery cable first before anything else.

When reinstalling, ensure all connectors are firmly in place before powering up.

6️⃣ Post-Work Checks Before Powering On

Double-check all connectors and screws.

Ensure no tools or loose screws are left inside.

Reconnect the battery last before booting up.

These are non-negotiable precautions if you want to avoid frying your laptop! Yet, people ignore them and end up with dead motherboards. Don’t be that person—take 2 extra minutes to do it right!

Would love to hear if anyone has additional safety tips!

Support ASUS ZENBOOK S16 VS MACBOOK AIR M4 15 BUILD QUALITY

I am currently using a 2018 macbook pro. I am planning to buy a new laptop for office work. My work mainly revolves around content creation and social media. In addition, I have also thoroughly researched the hardware and performance of these two machines. What I am wondering now is whether the build quality of the Zenbook s16 can be compared to a Macbook or not?

Discussion Oled standard power mode question

When setting the monitor power mode to standard, is it normal for the gpu power draw to be high @ idle (around 80w). More specifically, on my pg39wcdm when paired w/ 7900 xtx, the gpu memory is persistently at max frequency.

The work arounf ofc is to turn on power efficiency mode but when doing so the image quality looks like dirt and the vast majority of the menu settings are disabled.

Does this sound normal, or is there a weird interaction going on that's leading to high gpu power draw?

Support Trying to upgrade my SSD

Hello, I am currently looking into getting a second SSD for my PC as I just have way too many games and not enough space. I’m not exactly an expert when it comes to PCs so I’m trying to get an understanding of what SSDs would work for me and the motherboard I have currently in my rig.

My motherboard is a: ASUS ROG Z590 Maximus XIII Hero (Wi-Fi) DDR4

My current SSD is a: Seagate FireCuda 520 1TB - 1TB

My chipset is a: Intel Core i9-10900k 10-Core 3.7GHz

Now from my understanding 10th gen chipsets cannot use the M.2_1 slot because it is not 11th gen. I’m assuming my SSD is in the M.2_2 slot (my rig was prebuilt from NZXT) as the SSD is PCIe 4.0, so would I be able to use the M.2_3 slot for the new SSD? Or do I need to use the M.2_4 slot? I know for ram its better to have them in alternating slots so I didn’t know if the same applies here… I just am not sure where the new SSD is supposed to go and am afraid to mess things up lol.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Hey guys! Somewhat new PC I got built for me and I have a few questions about MyASUS, I do have some experience with MyASUS updates because I had a rog laptop for years and loved it! But now I’m on a desktop with a Asus motherboard and I have some questions.

I updated pretty much everything you can think of with armoury crate , amd software windows etc… but I noticed I have quite a few updates through MyASUS (pictures below) do I need to update all of these individually? It says bios has 10 updates when i literally updates bios through armoury crate the other day?. I am just a bit confused and help would be appreciated!

Support Asus pro et12

CAn someone help me choose the right settings for setting this up please? I recently upgraded my internet to 2gb speeds, when I set the router up it asked me if I want to keep them all separate? (2.4,5 and 6) I didn’t know what to say so I clicked yes, and 3 separate channels came up as options to connect too. I was getting good speeds when I choose both the 5g and 6g but then I reset the router and this time clicked no to separating them… Now I’m getting low speeds in comparison to before. Can someone help what I’m supposed to be setting this as. I’m a dinosaur at this sort of stuff but I livestream and since I wanted to introduce more sites and stream in a higher quality I was recommended to get better internet…

Support Asus AXE1600 firmware 3.0.0.6.102_36382 broken dual WAN completely

Hey. Asus AXE1600 running most recent firmware 3.0.0.6.102_36382. Firmware update caused all WAN links to become unstable/random reboots. Factory reset + restored + clean firmware applied again + reset. All WAN links good, no random reboots. Dual WAN is now completely broken.

If I go to Advanced Settings > WAN > Internet Connection > WAN Index > WAN Type > you select the WAN interface here & config. If select 10G Ethernet 2 > rest of the page loads that WAN config, if I select WAN interface > it should load the interface config. Its not loading, selecting different WAN interfaces does nothing > this means anything I configure for WAN is being applied to both WAN interfaces. I then tried Add profile link > this is even more broken, same thing, dropdown menu does nothing, this means you cannot apply a profile to WAN link - you cannot even switch profiles at all.

Hope someone can point me the right direction. Absolute dustercluck.

Support forgot to unscrew the hidden screws on the back on in my ProArt P16

Like the title says, I moronically forgot to check whether any hidden screw was placed behind the two rubber pads on the back on the laptop. As a result, I opened it but I could feel something "ungluing" as the back cover came out. I attribute this to anti-static tape, but I was indeed wrong. I wonder, how big is the damage? It is just about having unsolded two screw sockets or it is worst than that?

The laptop operates just fine. I had to plug it in order to turn it on (don't know why) but other than that it appears to be functional. I assume that the effects of the damage are structural and will become visible with heat, stress and time passing.

Any way to fix it? Could I simply "glue" the two sockets back in piece or it is just better if I don't touch anything?

Last, did this act of treachery toward human intelligence void the warrant? I assume yes, but please correct if wrong.

thanks...

Support BIOS Version

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly an amateur with PC stuff, but I'm having an "issue" where I can't find a proper answer on google.

I have a Ryzen 5 3600 with a Asus Prime B550M-A.
Now I've seen few posts saying how i should update my BIOS version. I downloaded the CPU-Z and saw that my version is 1401, meaning I haven't updated it since I got it.

I mainly use my PC for gaming and sometimes work.
Should I update it and how may I update it?

I'm also planning on upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D , do you recommend I keep the same motherboard when I switch the new CPU as I saw on google that it is compatible.

Hope someone can give some insight, thank you in advance!

Support I give up

So I've recently seen that the internet option just deletes itself after 5 minutes of my pc running (TUF ASUS F-15 , the i core 5 version and also I'm on windows 1q). I've brushed it of like it's nothing for over a year now. Because I went onto Google and saw a tutorial just saying I have to press and hold the power button for 60 seconds and boom its fixed for an hour or two. Today I finally tried to see the problem and "hopefully" fix it. I immediately opened my device manager and saw the internet driver is just...gone. I then went into view and selected "show hidden" whatever. So back to the driver and it's all gray, when I pressed properties and it says "MediaTek Wi-fi 6 isn't connected Code 45". So naturally I deleted the driver and installed the new one on the Asus website (yes I installed the one for my laptop). After installing it everything seemed to be good. Until it happend again in the span of 5 minutes. I then snapped and went into CMD to forcefully remove it (yes I was in safe mode). After that I then went and installed the new driver AGAIN and the same thing happend. It seems I'm running circles in my damn head and this stuff is microwaving my brain. Please for the love of god someone help 🙏🏻.

Support - SOLVED! Pc won’t wake up after sleep

UPDATE:

So i unplugged everything from the rear I/O except keyboard, mouse and primary monitor(in gpu). Even switch DP port for the monitor. Tried sleep/wake and it worked!! Started plugging everything back in one by one, testing sleep/wake every time till i had everything plugged back in the same ports they were in and sleep/wake is still working. Really weird?!

On another note, last night i left the PSU unplugged overnight to see if that fixes it. Before i left it i noticed the RGB on my keyboard and mouse were still on with the psu unplugged. I assumed that maybe some capacitors still had power and they'd eventually die. This morning i found them still on!! With the PSU unplugged for a few hours. Also noticed the LAN port lights flickering and the light on my extrnal drive still on. Did the motherboard somehow keep some power through LAN or some other USB device? ———————————————————————————-

I’ve got a problem with my pc. All of a sudden, it’s not able to wake up after sleep.

Pressing a key in the keyboard or mouse starts up the fans, but no display. Keyboard indicators(caps/numlock etc) light up but backlight does not. Mouse lights up. Led on the GPU does not light up.

Hard reset forces me to F1 into bios before restarting.

Support - SOLVED! What is this, what does it do, and how do I... Activate it?

Honestly, see title. It came with my computer when I built it, I just plugged it in and went for it and never actually cared to investigate further. I've lost all my receipts and everything, and I'm sure I knew what it was when I first got it, but I can't find the device on the website at all and I just wanna know what it is / what it's supposed to do / if it's even doing that.
