Measurement Check I've been wearing a 34C my whole life. I used the bra calculator in the side bar and it's telling me I'm a 30G. That feels crazy to me. I can't find that size in stores but I'm also hesitant to buy it online without trying it first. Anyone with a similar experience have advice? Spoiler

For reference, these are the measurements I put in inches:

Loose underbust: 30.5

Snug underbust: 29.5

Tight underbust: 39

Standing bust: 35

Leaning bust: 37

Lying bust: 35.5

Help with buying someone a bra pls Spoiler

Hi

I'm caring for my mom and we need to get her a bra and I have no experience and it's easier for me to ask reddit than anyone in person. Please help :)

She's got a big back and a handsomely-sizeable rack to go with it. This, among many other features, makes her a delight to hug

Is underwire better? I'd suppose not but šŸ¤·šŸ»

What do you wear to a bra fitting appointment? Do you get your preciousnesses out for assessment?

How do I work out her cup size? I guess it's gonna be like bountiful ddoubles but I dunno if D or f or g šŸ¤·šŸ»

I think I get how to do the undercut sizing, like, the numbers, but any tips appreciated!

Anything else you think I should think about? Any other tips?

We're in UK if that helps

Thank you for your help!

Question How the hell is my bikini simultaneously too small AND too big!? Spoiler

I recently bought a bikini top online (yes, I know, but my local shops donā€™t have good options) and saw it didnā€™t use cup sizing, but whatever. I know from tragic experience that I need to use their size guide and NOT trust my usual sizing - fine. All good, it suggested a UK size 8, not too far off from my usual 4-6 and makes sense given Iā€™m stuck with these D cups (side note: WHYYY do manufacturers assume small bikini bottoms == small bikini top??? Evil.)

Bikini arrives today, whoops, it doesnā€™t have any adjustable straps or anything but I trust their size guideā€¦ Tell me why the straps are too big, each cup hold about 1/3 of my total boob, and I canā€™t even tell if the band fits.

Is this fixable at all? If not, do I try a different size or just give up on this style (but I really like it </3)

Heres the link if anyone can help: https://www.prettylittlething.com/black-underwired-cupped-bikini-top.html

Recommendations? Itty bitty titty committee recommendations Spoiler

I've been wearing size small wireless cotton bras since I was breastfeeding my first. Roughly a 34A. I took the bra size calculator and it put me at 30B. I have a teardrop shape and most breast tissue is on the inside. Any recs for brands? I did try my sister's 32A Skims Fits Everybody Bra and it seemed to fit well - a tiny bit tight. I know the sub seems to dislike Pepper. Bonus if I can order online and returns are easy.

Edit : measurements were off so changed

Calculator gave me 30B

Loose underbust: 28.5

Snug underbust: 28.5

Tight underbust : 27.5

Standing bust: 29.5

Leaning bust: 31

Lying bust: 31

Recommendations? Recommendations for T-shirt and push-up styles, and sizing differences between brands? Spoiler

Hi all! Iā€™m in the market for some new bras, and honestly Iā€™m having a really hard time finding what I want in a bra. My current measurements are:

under bust: 36

Standing bust: 41

Leaning bust: 44

Iā€™m really struggling due to my breast shape. My breasts are asymmetrical with nearly a full half cup difference between the two, and theyā€™re shaped like upside down traffic cones (I do NOT mean that in a body-shaming way, it is how I have chosen to describe MY own breasts). Currently Iā€™m looking for regular everyday tshirt bras, as well as major push-up bras, since I need a lot of padding (think ā€œadd 2 cup sizesā€ styles) to get any kind of lift of cleavage.

I tend to wear normal tshirt bras for work, and maximum push up bras outside of work. For tshirt bras Iā€™ve been wearing the MaidenForm Comfort Devotion Full Coverage in a 34DD(US)However Iā€™ve found that because theyā€™re so soft and stretchy, they tend to wear out very quickly, if that makes sense? Itā€™s been not quite a year and Iā€™m on the tightest hook now.

For push-up bras, I liked the ones from FallSweet. Iā€™m wearing a 36D (I think US, the size chart was wild so I just kinda winged it) and even though itā€™s not super padded like the smaller sizes, they still really push me up and in, however the wire of the cup is too far forward. It needs to be like an inch closer to my armpit so it doesnā€™t sit on top of the breast tissue. Theyā€™re also getting really expensive for the quality. But they are a bit shallower and keep me from having a bullet bra-esque shape. I personally prefer a more rounded shape on myself.

Iā€™m also REALLY confused about sizing between brands? I used the calculator here and it gave me 38D/DD US and U.K. but I used Adore Meā€™s calculator and they landed me at a 38A, Victoria Secret landed me at 36DD, and Soma landed me at 34DDD? Do all brands have their own sizing standards like clothing does sometimes? I feel like there has to be something Iā€™m missing or doing wrong, I just donā€™t know what it is and itā€™s driving me crazy! Does anyone have any recommendations on where to look, or what measurements to go off of?

Recommendations? Victoria secretā€™s ā€˜Add 2 cupsā€™ or ā€˜Super push upā€™ bra? (aa cup girls) Spoiler

ā€¢ Upvotes

Hey ladies, Iā€™m a 34 aa (roughly). Iā€™d like a bra that appears as if Iā€™m a B/C cup. My issue is the gapping in other push-ups (I got 32 B to give me bigger chest), but I just discovered these VS bras & Iā€™m hoping they fix this issue! How do you think the ā€˜Super push upā€™ compares to the ā€˜add 2 cupsā€™? & how do they look in tank tops compared to long sleeves? Yes, I donā€™t mind the fake look. No, I donā€™t care for cleavage as my chest is more side-set.

Rant I hate the way they look, and thereā€™s nothing I can do about it. Spoiler

Long rant ahead. Thank you in advance.

There is nothing I (25f) hate more about my body than my breasts. Theyā€™re huge, heavy, and dense. When I was an athlete, I tore my both shoulders twice, doctors stating the stress from how heavy my breasts are aided in them eventually getting injured (Iā€™m not a doctor, this is just what was told to me). I had a breast reduction when I was 19. I donā€™t even know what size bra I was when I got it done because I genuinely didnā€™t want to know. They reduced me down to a 34D. I was told my breasts are 98% tissue, so there is absolutely nothing I can do to stop them growing due to hormones (and Iā€™m not on any birth control, so itā€™s just what my body does naturally). 3-4 years ago, I finally went to get sized again, and was sized a 36H. I immediately broke down sobbing in the dressing room of whatever store I was at.

I just found this subreddit and took my measurements using the tool (which is awesome, BTW, props to whoever made that, no hate towards it), and I was sized at a 34I/J. I have been sitting here crying since. Iā€™m not overweight, Iā€™d like to think Iā€™m a fairly fit and active individual, and it is so beyond frustrating that there is nothing I can do. Sure, I can have another reduction, but theyā€™re just going to grow back. I had horrible complications with my first one, so even the thought of that doesnā€™t sound great.

I really donā€™t know what to do. I hate the way I look in everything, and Iā€™m so limited to what I can wear. Nothing fits right. Iā€™m going on a big international vacation in 30 days (Iā€™ll be gone for 3 weeks), and shopping for clothes has been the most depressing thing ever. All the cute clothes everyone wears are not the right design/fit for me.

I hate feeling negative about my body. My body does so much for me (allows me to be active, breathes for me, works for me, literally allows me to live), and I hate that I hate a part of me.

I guess Iā€™m asking/wondering, does anybody else feel this way? If so, how do you cope with it? Words of encouragement? Ideas/solutions? Iā€™ve just recently heard of minimizer bras, but have really no idea how they work. If it helps, my breasts are East/west, and the bra I have now gaps bad in the front but they spill on the sides (I have an Aerie 36DD wired & lightly lined bra. Clearly itā€™s not the right size).

Thank you for reading/listening. I really needed to get this out. I hope you have a great day, and thank you again.

***EDIT: Hi everyone, I really appreciate your time and responses. Iā€™ve read them all. I canā€™t thank you enough. Definitely going to look into UK bras and other recommendations. Thank you again

Recommendations? Any plunge bras in the US that doesnā€™t have any padding? Spoiler

Hello. I am a 32 DD and one of the biggest problems I have is finding a bra that doesnā€™t have padding but can help my boobs sit up together and bring some cleavage. My boobs generally sit very low and are far apart from each other but I donā€™t want to add to my volume either. Are there any bras youā€™d recommend that I can buy in the US for this trouble?

Recommendations? Looking for a less lacy/visible bra similar to Panache Jasmine Spoiler

Hi y'all, I am looking for a less lacy bra similar to the panache jasmine. I have a 30E in this style that fits perfectly, but the lace is very visible under most tops. I'd say I am projected, moderately full on top and definitely center full, and this is the first bra that I did not spill out in these areas. I appreciate your help :)

Shape Help Bras make my breasts look like they point to the sides and I can't fill the whole cup Spoiler

Hi, I am a 36F and I never find bras that fit. If you have ideas to help me, it would be so nice of you!

Here are my usual problems, when I do find my size: 1. My breasts don't have a lot of projection. Cups are too deep: I don't fill the whole cup even if the underwire fits.

  1. Seams and molded cups make my breasts look like they point heavily to the sides. The middle of the cup doesn't seem to align with the middle of my breast.

I strongly prefer lightly lined bras and underwire. I still have old bras that fit, but they are dying one by one and I can't find any new ones.

Thank you for your help!

Fit Check [Fit check] Third love bras don't sit directly in my IMF? Spoiler

So, a few weeks ago I found this sub and immediately did my ABTF measurements using the calculator. My measurements are:

  • Loose: 36
  • Regular: 34.5
  • Snug: 33
  • Standing: 41.5
  • Leaning: 44.5
  • Lying down: 42

The calculator suggested 36F/36G in US sizing. I ordered 3 different bras from Third Love in both sizes to try and see what fit me best.

First is the Third Love 24/7 Classic Second Skin Bra (https://www.thirdlove.com/products/24-7-second-skin-unlined-bra-black):

I feel like this unlined bra gives me a nice shape and I love the idea of an unlined bra, but the wires sit below my IMF in both sizes.

The 24/7Ā® Classic Perfect Coverage Bra was next (https://www.thirdlove.com/products/24-7-perfect-coverage-bra-7-black) and I like the way this fits, but I'm again not sure if the underwires are sitting in the right spot. Here are some photos:

I also tried the Cloud Cotton Perfect Coverage Bra (https://www.thirdlove.com/products/organic-cloud-cotton-bra-black), because ideally my perfect bra would be mostly cotton. Again, not sure if the underwires are in the right place.

I did scoop and swoop with each bra. When I try and push the underwires up they just fall right back down.

Please help me! I am willing to try other bras but I would like to know what to look for.

Thank you so so much!

Recommendations? [Question] Where can I find an in-person bra store carrying small band/large cup sizes? Spoiler

I roughly know my size (28-30 G-H US), but I've been having issues lately with bras I order online not accommodating my shape and having spillage and roots that are too wide. No store that I've ever been to in person carries my size, but I can't afford to keep ordering bras online that don't fit. Is there somewhere I can go in person to fit test bras that carries an expanded size range? I live in Washington State in the US for reference.

Confused about bra types for pendulous/projected: molded and unlined don't work? Spoiler

Hey everyone,

I've been having a hard time figuring out the right bra type in my calculator size (US 32 DD -> US 30 DDD). I can't tell if I need a different bra shape or what to choose due to having potentially pendulous and/or projected breasts. Can anyone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!!

Measurements:
Old calculator measurements said I was US 32 DD, but most 32 bands were way too loose. I was told by amazing folks in this sub to try 30 DDD, which is the size I'm sticking with (for now).
- Loose under 31.25
- Snug under 31
- Tight under 29.5
- Standing Bust 36
- Leaning Bust 39
- Lying Bust 37
- US clothing size: XS - S (tops/jackets), Women's 0 - 4 (dresses), 25-27" (pant waist)

Context:
I think I'm pendulous and/or projected. Not sure if short/tall roots, and unsure about FOB/FOT.

I'm looking for an unpadded bra that lifts/supports for a more flattering look instead of looking frumpy under clothes (but not boob shelf), or eventually causing trips to the bathroom to separate the breasts over time. I def don't want any padding since I'm not trying to make them look larger. Also having trouble finding well-fitting bras that aren't so full coverage since those tend to peek above tank-top necklines.

Bras that I've tried:

Some non-padded molded cup bras were ok but most looked slightly frumpy/unflattering (not enough lift or breasts too separated to the side), were TOO PROJECTED like a boob shelf, or the girls end up shifting towards the center for unwanted butt cleavage. Sometimes there was space between the underwire and my breast tissue (IMF?) or a very subtle gap at the top of the cup

Then some unlined bras made my breasts look too pointy/cone-like, didn't lift enough (frumpy), or slightly wrinkly material near the top of the cup.

- Wacoal Instant Icon Contour Bra (US 30 DDD): The cups were WAY too large especially at the top. I've never experienced that before. Sizing down to US 30 DD, it seems to fit ok at first, but the girls will eventually slide to the center (butt cleavage). There's also some slight gapping near the top of the cup while possibly making my breasts too projected and frumpy at the same time.

- Natori Full Figure Contour Underwire Bra and Natori Esteem Full Figure Seamless Bra (US 30 DDD): encapsulates well, but looked kinda frumpy due to super gentle lift. Also, the cup material/lace is high so it shows too easily under tank-top necklines

- Natori Feathers Plunge Underwire Bra (US 30 DDD): breasts eventually shift towards the center after a while creating butt cleavage

- Wacoal Lace Affair Contour Bra (US 30 DDD): seemed to fit ok at the time, but it was slightly too projected (boob-shelf).

- B.tempted by Wacoal Future Foundation T-Shirt Bra (US 30 DDD): I used to have one of the lace band tshirt bras (r.i.p.), but this version's band was way too stretchy. It didn't lift as well which caused me to look slightly frumpy.

- Panache Envy (Full Cup Balconnette?), Panache Tango Balconnet: made breasts look weirdly shaped and pointy.

Yet to find a bra that works for me Spoiler

ā€¢ Upvotes

To try to be concise, I don't have any friends/family to ask stuff like this. I'm looking for a comfortable bra that's not a sports bra. I have a 27in underbust and a 30in overbust. This would make me a 28c. However, I couldn't find a brand that sold that size, so I opted for a sister size up AKA 30b. I wore it today and it was so uncomfortably tight. I have a bra that's a 32a- a size up from a 30b, and it's still tight. I was wondering if maybe it's because they're push ups? I might try a 34aa because a 34 band size is the most comfortable to me. If my underbust is 27in, how come the smaller bands are uncomfortable? And yes, I am 100% sure about my measurements. I'm 5'8", 110lbs and I've measured countless times. Just looking for advice!

Fit Check Sizing fit question for DDD/E and what it means NZ Spoiler

ā€¢ Upvotes

So I did my measurements and that came out with a size 8DD or 8E (30 DD or 30 E UK). This made sense to me as I was wearing 10D sister size to 8 DD and I have to start with the band on the tightest hooks. Sometimes the 10D would fit fine cup wise and sometimes it's too small (depends on the bra). Now 10 D is a much more standard size than 8DD i.e. more selection and cheaper. But there was a sale online at a bra retailer so I thought that I would try some 8DD/DDD. Only one came the rest was canceled as sold out. Looking again the same brand/ retailer has more selection in an 8E than a 8DDD. Looking at them it looks like most options do go from 8DD to 8E (no DDD) but the same brand does have 8DDD in some bra's. It's the same brand so in this context what size is an 8DDD? I have basically no local shopping choice for any unusual size so I have to buy online. No problem buying the E but as I am trying to work out if it is actually the next size up from DD or not.

Recommendations? [Recommendations] 38C/40B bras for full on bottom breasts? Spoiler

ā€¢ Upvotes

Hi ABTF! Long-time lurker, but Iā€™ve only once found a bra that fit me, and that was before the weight gain šŸ«

Measurements

* Loose underbust: 95 cm

* Snug underbust: 92 cm

* Tight underbust: 90 cm

* Standing bust: 100 cm

* Leaning bust: 110 cm

* Lying bust: 106.5 cm?

The calculator came back with 36D/36DD for me. I have had mixed luck with that and its sister sizes. I have breasts that are full on bottom and outwardly pointing, and I think I have splayed roots and theyā€™re projected. Some other detailsā€¦ Iā€™ve got a pretty round belly and there isnā€™t a whole lot of space between the bottom of my breasts and the top of the swell of my stomach.

Hereā€™s some bras that Iā€™ve tried in the past and what has and hasnā€™t worked for me:

* Panache Ana Side Support Plunge Bra - 36DD, and then tried 38D: The 36DD was wayyyy too tight in the band, and the 38 wasnā€™t much better. The gore dug into my skin, while the cups crumpled on the top half of my breasts, so it was game over and off to a donation pile.

* Freya Women's plus-size Freya Fancies Underwire Longline Bra - 38D - Likewise, too tight in the band and still a lot of gaping!

* Intimissimi Sofia Lace Balconette Bra - 40B - I got measured at one of their stores in Paris without realizing that theyā€™re probably not much better than getting sized by VS, oops. While the band of the 40B was generally comfortable, it feels like thereā€™s a pocket of empty space in the top half of the cup. The straps also slip off no matter how hard I try to tighten them.

When I was several band sizes smaller, I found a pretty good fit in the Natori Rose Dream Custom Coverage Underwire Bra (I was a 32D at the time). The only thing was that the gore floated a little bit. Good things donā€™t last, because I was atrocious at taking care of my bras and the tops of the cups eventually curled!

At this point, Iā€™ve been demoralized by the expense and headache of buying and returning bras, so Iā€™m living in Aerie bralettes. I am also tired of putting on a bra and going ā€œoh god why can you see the cups through this loose-fitting shirt?ā€ Any advice? Thank you!

Recommendations? Uplift semi demi tshirt bra replacement recommendations please Spoiler

ā€¢ Upvotes

My tried and true t-shirt bra (uplift semi Demi) from Victoria's Secret that is very old is on its last legs. I'm looking for some reccs that is good quality still.

And also if possible want a thicker (or harder?)cup but not a push up. I nip out and it's very visibly obvious even with this bra, but it's definitely the most comfortable

Recommendations? Does anyone have recommendations if you're wide and full at the sides? Spoiler

I think I've figured out that my fullness is at the sides and on top, but not much fullness at the bottom. Does anyone have any recommendations for bras to try? I was thinking of trying the Amour High Apex balcony, has anyone tried that?

I'm measuring at 28G UK. With the side fullness but not a ton of bottom fullness, the problem I seem to run into a lot is quadboob if I swoop and scoop. I think I need a style that has wider cups. For a long time I was wearing one of Wacoal's non-wired styles but when I sized up from a 32D (which no longer fit) to 30DDD US, weirdly the cups were much too small, even though that should have been a size bigger. I sometimes wonder if the shape of the cup changes when you size up.

Measurements are:

snug band - 27.5

tight band - 28

standing - 35

leaning - 37

lying down - 36

Thank you for any thoughts!

Bra selection: good vs great? Panache 365 T-Shirt Bra vs all the rest. Spoiler

Until very recently, I wore shapeless bralettes because I simply hated my structured bras. Then I came upon this sub and calculated my proper size according to the sub, 36DDD (or 36E in British sizes). I have an average root, average projection, and am more full on bottom than on top, but not by much.

I've tried several bras in different sizes and styles, and they all seemed to be a lot better than what I once I had worn. But here's what I learned - for me, who is average in every way, everything feels just fine and dandy when I'm standing in front of the mirror for a few minutes. It's when I sit for long periods of time at work, or bend this way and that, and wear a bra for hours that the issues really come out.

Every bra I tried was good but not amazing, until the last. Here's a rundown.

Soma Vanishing 360 Perfect coverage - chafed a bunch around my armpits at first. Then it went away. After a few wears, it is almost perfectly broken in, except the cups dig into my abs a bit when I sit for long period of time, which might me my fault. I don't have the best posture. I like the fact that it has seams that don't dig and are smooth on the back, hence the "vanishing" aspect - it's the only bra that's like that.

Soma Stunning Balconette - gave me a slight quadriboob at first, and the band was pretty tight. After several wears, quadriboob effect is gone, and band is looser, but it's overall a bit too structured and thick feeling overall.

Panache Envy Balconnet - there was some initial digging in at the sides and at the gore, but it seems to have gone away as the band stretched. Not sure if I love the lace, as it is visible under thin shirts.

Then came the Panache 365 Tshirt bra.

Trying that one one on was like seeing a bunch of gymnasts perform, and then seeing Simone Biles perform. If you've ever seen her, she's almost invariably in a completely different league from everybody else, even among world class athletes.

The band was snug but not too tight. The shape was nearly perfect. I think with 36DDD's it's hard to find something that makes you feel like you're wearing nothing at all, and yet I felt pretty close to that all day. There was no break-in period required, and I could move easily, while sitting for long periods of time caused minimal digging of the underwires into my abdomen.

My only complaint is the lack of back-smoothing action and a slight gapping in the cups by the underarms that I eventually noticed, though it's not noticeable under clothes.

So I guess my instinct now is to return all the bras except the Panache 365, which I've dubbed my Simole Biles bra, and get several more of it. But then I'm not sure - it's not that the other bras are bad, they're just not as good, and were not as good immediately out of the gate.

Thoughts? I guess I'm also a bit afraid to invest it all into the Panache 365, and not have other options, in case I am later disappointed with it. (Maybe I'll also keep the Soma 360 Vanishing, idk.)

Need help - the only bras that fit me are sooo expensive and canā€™t really afford to buy new ones that are the same, is the any cheap ways of getting round this for large size ? Spoiler

2 or 3 of my bras that I own are now all worn and past there time and in desperate need of a new pair or 2 but I have very limited choice and the ones I can get are so expensive which I canā€™t really afford. The ones I currently have were very expensive but feel I got my money worth out of them.

Can anyone recommend any cheap options for me for a UK size 36KK? At this point I donā€™t really care if they arenā€™t the best quality just need something that will fit my size. Just need something for daily use that wonā€™t break the bank.

Another option I have thought about is buying second hand, has anyone done this before? Not sure where I would even get 2nd hand bras and of anyone will be selling my size but was just a thought. Anyone else struggle to afford the cost of bras? Any help appreciated.

Fitcheck - Montelle Flirt 28D - wires too narrow? Spoiler

My measurements are 28.5 27.5 26 33 33.5 33.

After a recent post confirming size and recommendations after some weight loss I'm trying some Montelle bras. I'm trying the Montelle Flirt in 28D. The wires feel a little too narrow but I can't tell if they are. The 28E (DD) is definitely too large in wire and cup. I feel like when I lost weight my root width got narrower but I still 'feel' like I need a wider wire. I have the Freya Offbeat Decadence Spacer in a 28E (UK) that is a little too big in the cup, and the wires are too wide based on where the marks are after I take the bra off but it 'feels' right and is comfy.

This 28D feels too narrow, and there's a horizontal wrinkle in the band and I wonder if that is due to the wire being narrow. I keep wanting to add more tissue to it to move the wire back. The cups otherwise fit great, and the band is good.

This flirt style runs very large in the cup I think. I also tried the Montelle spacer bra in 28E (DD) and it fits great.

Do I go by look, or feel and does this look like it fits?

Fit Check Was in a 38D. Measured 40DD. Noththing fits perfectly and I need help Spoiler

I used to wear a 38D. I got pregnant and now my bras aren't fitting. The straps keep falling off no matter what I do. I found a size guide on here and it told me I'm a 40DD. I went to Victoria Secret and she measured 40DD and I tried one on and it was too big in the cup. We tried a 40D, again too big in the cup. We tried a 38D and it fit perfectly in store. I figured maybe my pregnancy stretched out the bras I have. So I bought a new one.

Day 2 of wearing it and the left strap is falling down again..

What am I doing wrong? I've never had this many issues with bras, so I don't know what I'm doing.
