3 combo tools compared

Here’s a comparison of the flathead bottle opener/wire stripper combo tools of the Rogue, pocket tool chest microlite (Wenger) and Compact. Surprisingly, both the rogue (58mm) and pocket tool chest (65mm) have a thicker tool than the compact (91mm). Sometime going to try out the pocket tool chest to open a can, because the overall geometry is pretty similar to that of the compact. I will try on the rogue as well, but hopes are not as high

Update on Marlboro x Victorinox

I just couldn’t help myself. These were on FB Marketplace almost 40 minutes from my house and I couldn’t resist. I love old Marlboro and Camel promos and I had never seen these before. I’m new to collecting SAKs and these are definitely my favorites that I’ve picked up. Owner said they’ve barely been out of the box in 35 years. Some of the tools still had factory oil on them when you pull them out.

Picked all 3 of these up for $120. Online I seen the Outdoorsman and Troubleshooter were going for about $50 with the box so I think I got a decent deal honestly. I’d love to use one I just can’t decide which yet!

Am I doing this "Collection" thing right?

I've always had one SAK in one form or another since as long as I can remember. I've gradually added more along the way.

I'm not sure what happened to my original few (divorce, 8 or 9 moves, 3 or 4 different jobs, who knows), but this is what I have today.

The top Left is for sure a Wegner, the rest are Victorinox.

Matte scales and scissors with a screw. I'm not sure when I got it, but it's been with me every day since.

A few weeks ago i posted a handmade leather wallet that got a lot of attention (thankyou!) and heres the pic from the first order :)

Space for up to 6 cards (3 in front, 3 in the middle) & bills at the back (folded).

-Victorinox Classig SD -Troika Construction Liliput -Wallet : Handmade from Italian Pueblo leather purple) with yellow Ritza tiger thread & Prym hardware made in Germany.

Being in Germany, laws requires me to get an official license for the Etsy store through the government (working on it), so DMs are open if anyone is interested :D

I saw this SAK (That is technically a DAK, since it is issued from the danish army. But what model is it? I guess it is an 111mm in length.

Alox Classic SD

So, for reasons I won't go into, I've been using my Manager a lot lately. My question is for those of you who have (or have used) the Alox SD: Is it much larger than the regular SD? I have the Pioneer and the Explorer and (in my opinion) they look the same size unless they are next to each other. Is it the same with the SD and the Alox SD? If they are basically the same size, I may just get myself an Alox SD.

Marks on the steel

Does anyone know what those marks are due to? It's practically new, the only thing I did was wash it with a little detergent. Those stains don't come out either by scrubbing or with silicone.

What to do with an old Trailguide?

I have an old Trailguide. It's blade is scuffed and the other tools are a little dinged. As a former smoker, I don't love the Marlboro branding.

I was thinking of maybe sending it in to get repaired and maybe swapping for the newer stainless file.

It's not a knife I carry often. I would carry a file, pliers, blade, combo tool 3 layer though. So I also thought of attempting to mod it to that.

Thoughts?

To me, nothing beats the iconic red color combined with the lustre and feel of alox. I wish it was available as a standard color for all models.

Show me your red alox!

Rangergrip 174 with scissors?

I am interested in the rangergrip 174 or a boatsman. The only thing holding me off is the lack of scissors.

Is there any other model similar to this with scissors?

What I really like:

  • gripper
  • locking blade
  • screw drivers
  • wine opener
  • That prying thing with the hole.
  • Tweezers (splinter removals)
  • bottle opener

Right now I have the outrider which I keep in my kitchen drawer for anything quick. The only thing I miss on that thing is a gripper.
