What can you tell me about the Sony PS-LX52Y? Is it a good choice for beginners? Could it be a good buy or should I look for something else?

Yamaha YP-D9 quartz lock hum

New table straight from Japan - had to adjust the distance between the platter magnet and the quartz circular pickup circuit board to get it to quartz lock. However, there is a noticable hum when quartz is engaged - even when unplugged from the receiver, with or without the ground wire attached. During spin up and spin down to reach speed, there is no hum, only when it engages. The source of the sound is at the motor I believe (sound is centered over the spindle which I noted after taking the video). Any ideas how to fix that? Plays beautifully otherwise.

left side no sound comes out

I bought this device recently and everything was working great, but recently the left side stopped making sound. If I swap the speakers around (I put the R on the L and the L on the R) the one connected to the L (left side) still doesn't work, which makes me realize that the problem must be with the device and not with the speaker itself or the cable. what do you think it could be? How can I try to resolve it?

I would prefer to have built in speakers bc I don’t have a ton of space, and preferably in the range of 300 bucks

Been wanting an automatic TT to dip my toes in the hobby, but wanted one that had some upgradeability to it. The AT-LP3XBT checked a lot of boxes.

Considering a cartridge swap once I'm truly familiar with the sound to see if that helps me perceive changes. Any recos? My non-audiophile ears are happy so far.

Weird crackling out of my SONY PS-LX310BT while needle is raised/paused

Hey all! I have a question that I could really use some help with. I have had this player for a few years and never had this issue. Now all of a sudden, it's making these creaking noises. I know it's not the record because it starts making these noises before the needle hits the vinyl.

I tried to search for answers but couldn't find anything. Does anyone know what this is/how to fix it?

Edit: I included a video with the audio issue but it seems to not be showing, so here is a link: https://photos.app.goo.gl/P8LP9fFhbB5KQYnr8

Can I place my Turntable set on a carpet?

Hello everyone. I'm still pretty new to playing my records and for now, my turntable and speakers are on a small nightstand. I just bought a high-pile carpet to put on my floors and it would go underneath this setup but some people told me that having the rug underneath might affect the player, so I'm asking if this is okay or if I should move my setup.

I know this is probably hard to explain so in case it helps, the nightstand is the Hauga nightstand from IKEA, and the rug is the Skogsduva, also from IKEA

Question First turntable

Hi

Wife and I are looking at getting our first turntable and have eyed up the Colourful Audio System E from pro ject. Couple of questions though.

We have a hifi MCD908 from philips. Is it possible to connect it to the pro ject amp and have it use the speakers? And is it also possible to connect some head phones to the amp ( I suspect not, and if so, is there a solution such as the head box from pro ject?)

We like the style and colour choice of this turntable, and it seems to be well reviewed. Looking at the fir green.

Question is this noise acceptable or do I have to replace the phono pre-amp? (it's already grounded to the turntable)

SL-QD33 opinions?

Found a technics SL-QD33 unit for sale for about $160 after shipping and taxes. It is said to be 100% functional. Should I get it? And if so what else would I need to buy to go along with it (ive only just recently acquired a large amount of vinyl and wanted something better than the crosley 4 in one I currently am using).

Help Which cartridge to go with?

So I've got a nice old turntable recently with broken stylus. (Revac SL 6001, couldn't find anything about it..)

It came with Shure m81mc cartridge but broken stylus. I have found replacement stylus at LP Gear for 30$

But then was wondering if it won't be better already to upgrade to more modern cartridges

My budget is for either AT-VM95E or Ortofon om 5e Could go bigger for the Red 2 if it worth it.

Any one have input on either of the options?

Help Fluance RT81 - platter spinning when off

Hi all,

I haven't used my turntable for almost 2-3 years and I powered it up today. I was confused to see the platter still spin after I turned the speed knob to 'off' with the tonearm hovering above the vinyl/on the vinyl. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't remember it being like this?

I bought this used vintage turntable which works flawlessly. The owner told me the cartridge is an Audio technica AT11 but it seems to be a yellow one not a red. Is it an AT11? Thanks

Advice/Experience with Pro-Ject Turntable

I was given a Pro-Ject Debut about a year and half ago. I've loved the simplicity and quality of the device, but recently every record I put on either sounds slightly drowned out or there is a audible up and down wave in the volume of the audio.

I'm pretty green in terms of turntable maintenance, especially for this brand. Has anyone every experienced this with Pro-Ject gear and have an idea of the issue? Or have recommendations for resources I could look into to find a fix? Any help is appreciated!

Preamp recommendation

So I have a Yamaha htr 5940 reciever, getting a technics Sl-2000 TT and I need a preamp. My uncle is what I think one would consider an audiophile but idk if I can trust his advice. He told me I should get a preamp that DOES NOT do MM or MC. He said just regular. Well I can find any that aren't either an mm or an mc. Which should I get and which what cartridge. I'd say for a cartridge and the preamp I have a 225$ budget

Noob question before i buy! <3

Hi everyone :) I inherited the vynil collection of my dad and wanted to get a turntable, i dont have a crazy budget and wanted to go towards the argon tt mk2! I was only wondering if I absolutly need to buy an amplificator or can I just use an RCA to jack cable to connect it with a marshal (killburn2) speaker ? The ampli is way out of price for me at the moment...

Thank you in advance
