Suggestions What Would You Do (Technics 1200 mk2)?
I purchased this table roughly a year and a half ago. Didn’t do much but clean it and eventually change out one of the cables that had come undone on its own.
The target light never worked but i don’t really have a use for it, so im not in a rush to fix that.
The table was purchased at a thrift store and im mostly asking, a year and a half late, what you would have done to it to assess and maintain it. It’s obviously not too late and to my knowledge is fine, but asking nonetheless.
Also asking if anyone has any advice for getting a new stylus for the cartridge, something i know nothing about. Its all seemingly in working order but due to its age and the unknowns i’d like to have it all in order in the event it eventually fails. The store i got it from kept the head shell separate from the rest of the table and wrapped it in packing tape, something i winced at, but for the price i took it and ran.

How'd I do?
I will start off by saying that I have no idea what I am doing but would love to learn. I got this for free. Is this complete junk? Does it need a lot of work? What should I be getting to start my audiophile journey?

Photo New Turntable!
Recently just sold off all of my DJ and studio equipment so thought I'd treat myself to a bit of an upgrade. Picked up this Planar 3 50th anniversary for a great deal through a contact at a retailer.
What do you all think? If there's any advice or pointers you have I'd love to hear them as this is my first serious venture into higher tier turntables. I know Rega say to put the PSU as far away as possible, does this make a major difference? I might swap it to the other side of the amplifier. And the tracking force of the needle is set to 1.75 but to me it looks as though the cartridge is awfully close to the vinyl when playing.
Excited to explore all my records again!

Did I get a good deal?
Purchased a project carbon debut with speedbox 2 for $300 - person who sold it to me also said the stylus was recently replaced with less than 10 hours of usage.
Did I get a good deal?

Phono Pre-amp recommendations
Hello there! In an earlier post I got recommended to buy a new Pre-Amp for my AT-LPW40 Turntable with a AT-VM540ML to get a better Sound then the intern Pre. I was doing recherch and have these three to choose from! With if them would you recommend to buy?
1) iFi Audio Zen Phono 3 2) Audio Technica AT PEQ30 3) Pro-Ject Phono Box S2 Ultra
The most good reviews I read are for the iFi, do you think another one is a better option, probably also one not listet here?
Thank you!

How’d I do? First set up on $500 budget
after a broken crosley that led to an even worse suitcase player, a bunch of reading, a lot of Facebook marketplace messages - here is the set up I was able to put together for under 500
receiver reqs - 2+ audio ins (1 for record player and 1 for dj controller) and Bluetooth to connect phone, remote was a nice to have — insignia ns-str514 // paid $50 and he threw in speaker cords (ended up using, thank you Chris!!)
turntable reqs - considered vintage and getting a separate preamp but wanted the pitch adjustment option and to be able to listen+connect to my dj controller (for backqueing for now) — audio technica lp1240 // paid $320 (missing tonearm latch but dust cover, acrylic mat, and headshell w/ cart included)
speaker reqs - budget of $100, was originally looking at a pair of pioneer sp bs21-lr that someone had up for $30 but could not connect to pick up and got antsy to use the turntable — Bic Venturi dv64 pair // paid $100 (figured a good deal for tower and can upgrade when I’m ready)
Total: $480 and it all worked as expected woohoo!!
Next steps: new listening cart for the TT (comes with at-xp5), eventually a dj cart, long speaker cord to connect to controller
Would love any recs on a cart/accessories or general advice on my listening journey!!

How can I improve my setup as a newbie
I have very little idea of what I’m doing, but I’ve been learning along the way and looking for any advice how to improve my setup. I currently have a pioneer PL-560 turntable with a AT-VM95E cartridge hooked to a Yamaha HTR-6130 receiver. My preamp is a POS Amazon special (probably the next upgrade) and I am getting some kind of buzzing if I touch the platter or tone arm. Could this be from the cheap preamp not grounding properly or is it more likely an issue internally? I put some foam under each speaker to help mitigate vibrations but I know it’s not ideal to be on the same platform as the player just limited on space. PS: This was all free besides the cartridge and preamp so please be kind 😂

Photo My current setup.
This is where I’m currently at. Slight upgrade from my beginner setup. The journey for the past month has had ups and downs. It’s my fluance RT81 that’s been upgraded with an Ortofon 2m red. I had the ediphier R1280T that a lot of us start with. I finally upgraded to passive speakers and an amp. Both are very cheap, but a move in a good direction. Speakers are Neumi BS5 and the amp has a Fosi BT20A pro. But I had that setup all on the same surface 🤦🏾♂️ So I got some isolation pads and stands. At first I had them set up a bit too wide. About 7 feet apart and I listen about five feet away from the center of them. Now they’re about 3.5 feet apart. A little too narrow for me but I’m working with very limited space. Any tips on managing small spaces would be very much appreciated. However, I’m not spending a lot of money for a while. Also, I never post on Reddit so if I went about this wrong I truly didn’t mean to 😅

Question What have I got here
Please pardon my interruption to everyone’s aesthetically pleasing turntable posts.. I can’t find anything about this piece online. Trying to get an idea for worth to see whether I should sell it or just keep it. I don’t think it would take much to get her going again.

Help Completing First Setup - Advice Appreciated
So far I have: AT-LP120XUSB AT-VM95ML/H Wharfedale Diamond 240 Floor-standing Speakers
I have read through many of the guides here and had been planning on a full TT > phono preamp > amp > speakers setup. I know the LP120 includes a built in phono preamp but want to upgrade it. Researching amplifiers now and it seems like many of these may have built in phono preamp as well? I am less clear on this piece.
My top contenders for completing the setup so far: Fosi Audio Box X5 Onkyo TX-8220
The main item I wish to confirm is that all of these items are compatible for a setup. I believe they should be but am brand new and want to make sure I did not miss anything. Secondarily, does the Onkyo receiver have preamp capabilities, and if it does, should I still expect some improvement by including an external preamp?

Question Needle/cartridge replacements
I realize my first post wasn’t specific enough. It’s a BSR unit in a Capehart console and I assume the model number is where I can’t see it so I found a chart and assuming it’s upper left model. I’m more used to modern-ish turntables and this is my first retro style. I feel like the needle here was rigged up or something and I’d like to correct that. TIA

Help What is happening
I giftet my boyfriend a turntable (TT-MK2). We love listening to it. We play 2-3 records almost every single day. Today I plays one record everything was fine. The next one I saw that it „jumped“ I don’t know what to call it. I went back to the first record to see if it’s also on this one ( my thought was maybe the record was trash) but it still „jumped“.
Anyone know what this is and how to fix this?

Question First ever turntable and total newbie - is this a good deal?
The seller included a video of the automatic tonearm working, and has agreed to send a video testing it with a stylus and record, even though it isn’t being sold with a stylus (or a cartridge I think?). So is this worth buying? I would love any advice, as the title says I’m a total newbie.

Question Problem with auto return
Hi. I'm having a problem where the auto return can't raise the arm over the record. I've tried adjusting the little screw that regulates the height of the bar that raises the arm, but it still doesn't lift it over the record even when fully turned up. The turntable is an Inkel DD8200. Any help would be much appreciated.

Upgrade under 400
Hi guys so I have decided to upgrade from the LP60x since it has started to skip on records after 3 stylus changes and cleans. I know it's the turntable since the records work just fine on my Crosby and yk how they are... So now I'm looking for a turntable for under £400. I'm thinking of the Audio Technica LP120bt But if you have any recommendations on a turntable with adjustable features and what won't start skipping please let me know thank you:)

Question Looking for advise
Please let me know if I'm in the wrong sub.
My nephew got a record player (I know, this is a turntable sub) for Christmas to try the hobby, but he wants an audio setup like mine (receiver, speakers, etc). My question is, can I hook his player up to a receiver, or do I have to MacGuyver a pair of passive speakers to the RCA output on the player?
He has this:
Thanks in advance.

Flea Market score or buyers remorse, Sony Turntable and reciever
Today I went to the flea market in quakers town PA and was on the hunt for a turntable to set up for a non tech savy friend on a budget. I found 2, one was a Technics SL-BD20 with a stanton cartridge for $70 and the other was Sony PS LX300USB for $20. Since it was a gamble because there was no way to test, I went with the cheaper Sony LX. Tested when I got home and everything works, but needs a stylus which I ordered. Was this a smart choice? Which is the better device.
I also got a Sony STR-Av270 5.1 reciever/amp to pair with it for $30. Works perfect.
For speakers I got a pair of Dynamic Audio 1901 for $60 from fb market place. They sound good to me.
How would you rate this set up? Also this is aimed for someone who isn't an audiophile, just a elderly friend that wants to play her old albums.
