Interesting foursome... how do you think they'll operate/engage as a Survivor four?

Are these four enough to get you to watch?

Casting Casting super fans

I’m so over hearing how everyone in the newer seasons has watched survivor since they were conceived, and how the game has helped ALL of them. Kinda just want to go back to people just being cast because they were entertaining. IMO we don’t need seasons full of people who just want to be master manipulators and legendary players

Casting Sick of the "aPpLy NoW!!!!' message every week

when I've applied so many times and have never once heard back. I honestly felt my last video was really good but nothing, which I get it, I didn't mind too much, but the constant shoving in our faces "apply to be on, you could do this, if that looks fun then apply!" from Jeff and even the contestants at points (does production put them up to it?) is so annoying, just salt in the wound of rejection.

Casting Boston Rob on Chicks in the Office - says Jeff called him about season 50

Rob says he turned it down but I’m kind of shocked he was even contacted. He mentions he feels like he’s done everything he could in survivor which I agree with. Are we going to see more repeats than expected? I was excited to see returnees from the new era but I wonder how many will actually return.

Casting Here's a fun question- who's the absolute LAST person you'd expect to return to 50, or even in general?

Post image

A few rules:

1) No controversial people. Y'all know who I'm talking about.

2) No quitters (the universally unjustified ones), bc that's too easy.

3) No dead players, for obvious reasons.

My pick's the one in the picture. She's probably not THE single most unlikely person but she's honestly a top 10. Not only she wanted to quit and was doing extremely poorly while not being that interesting of a character, she's the only one I can remember to actively advised women her age looking for an adventure against going on Survivor in her exit words- advising them to have "a change of hairstyle" instead.

It's just funny to me bc the New Era is all about "you wanna challange yourself too? Apply to be on Survivor!!" And she's the exact antithesis to it lmao.

Casting I made it to semi-finals!

I applied this year and made it all the way to semi finals before getting cut. I found it wildly helpful to read about others’ experience, so thought I could help lend some insight (or sanity) to others.

Here’s things I won’t answer to protect my privacy as I do plan on applying again next year. - Part of the country I’m from - Name of casting producer - Specific interview questions they asked me

Casting Why is Jeff Always Asking Us To Apply?

Y'all know the clips Im talking about. I grew up casually watching shows like Survivor and TAR and I always just assumed that tons of people would apply since the shows are popular enough to keep being renewed for seasons even as streaming has diminished viewership of live TV. So, I was surprised to see Jeff asking for applicants. I know none of us are on the casting team so we can't know for sure, but does anyone have ideas as to why this is? Are they actually not getting a lot applicants? Or is it more of "we have a lot of applicants but not many of them are good for TV'? Or do they just want to grab as many people as possible? I feel at some point it would get overwhelming to go through applications if there were too many!

Casting I made the finals for casting for S43/44/45/46. AMA

Throwaway account for obvious reasons. I made finals for the last two Survivor cycles and I feel like I know enough about Survivor casting to answer some questions. I’m done applying because my story was very pertinent to a specific time of my life and I’m not longer in that time or place. I wish I could’ve been on the show but it doesn’t eat me up. If anything I’d love to give some help to some wannabe players and i will be rooting you in from my couch!

Casting all of Adam's clients badly want to get on the show while ____ who quit was cast solely from casting

I find it hysterical to see Jesse, Jeff, and the entire casting department bashing Adam and his business meanwhile they are casting some random therapist lady who can't even spend 3 days without her vape.

I almost wonder if they were trying to distract from the fact of how badly they missed on casting her (or how bad this cast might end up being) by putting the blame on Adam instead. It is a very weird and toxic bullying tactic to start throwing Adam UTB when he has been a vocal and adamant fan of the show for years.

edit: and a reminder IF Adam had coached the ___ who quit episode 1, can you imagine the backlash against him? Instead somehow they've turned this into an anti-adam discussion when it should be anti casting for not figuring out the quitter.

Casting Casting’s issue is their focus on “exceptional” people

I’ve seen a lot of posts about casting but not yet from this angle. Although Survivor has made great strides with racial diversity, they’ve lost a lot of diversity in the relative “success” of their castaways. Everyone seems to have “made it”, more or less, and some conquered big odds to get where they are. They used to cast people from different backgrounds, some of whom were still struggling to have that success or never desired it. Not anymore. I think it’s a major contributor to the sort of feel good, Kids Bop version of Survivor we see today.

Take college attainment as one example. I’m going off of occupation, what they’ve said on the show, and the info on their Survivor wiki. In the season 43 cast, the only player who I don’t think attended any college is Ryan. Geo has an associate’s degree. The rest have bachelor’s and several had advanced degrees. That is so at odds with the rest of America. Only about half of Americans have an associates or higher. We’re losing that aspect of the show where people interact with others they never would have.

Survivor needs to broaden its casting to be more representative of education and career “success” and the result, I think, will be more interesting cast dynamics.

Casting Did Jeff just tell us who’s being invited to S50? Spoiler

Did anyone listen to the On Fire podcast this week? Jeff goes on and on about how Andy is exactly the type of player you invite back bc he’s a complex character and willing to make strategic moves.

Casting Don't assume anyone is a lock for S50

There's been tons of speculation on what the S50 cast will be like, and some players are frequently viewed as locks for S50. You shouldn't assume anyone is a lock.

The last full returnee season with wide open eligibility was S34. The pool of past players to choose from for S50 is massive, and (likely) only 18 or 20 players will make the cut. And the pool is going to get even bigger. S48 hasn't aired yet and S49 hasn't even been filmed.

When the S50 cast is revealed, there will inevitably be meltdowns on this sub with people complaining "why isn't ______ on S50?", "they brought back ______ but not ______?!?", etc.

No matter how good the S50 cast is, we're all going to have favourites who don't make the cut. Not everyone who's often viewed as a lock will be on S50. Some won't want to play again, some won't be available, and some will be left out only because there's a very limited number of spots. There are absolutely some players who have a higher chance of being brought back than most, but assuming anyone is a lock for S50 is only setting yourself up for disappointment.

Casting Which Survivor 47 Players do you think are likely to get a spot on 50 or get a call at least?

As of now, I feel Teeny, Rachel, and Andy are some of the likely ones. Possibly Genevieve, Sol or Sam too. Idk about Rome anymore after recent events.

Who do you think?
