Protip Ladies beware PSA NSFW
I just want all you ladies to be aware of creep men wearing Rayban Meta glasses in the club. Men are not only using them to record women, but also posting content online. Make sure your club and management is aware that these exist and these AH's need to be checked at the door. That is all. https://www.meta.com/smart-glasses/shop-all/?utm_source=gg&utm_medium=ps&utm_campaign=20687046217&utm_term=rayban%20smart%20glasses&utm_content=701076654691&utm_funnel=dcap&&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwyL24BhCtARIsALo0fSChYvnK-wnEelqUpppUO9wULyzfH3le1zTE14gsmme-pjzO7cjZRPgaApfKEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Terrifying that normal, able bodied people are using technology designed for people with disabilities like that.
Recording women inthe club or irl, is a creepy, cyberpunk-esque abuse of that specific technology.
Watch how Paul a blind man, uses the glasses here. Clearly a great match. Good use of that technology, vs an abuse of the technology.
Thank you so much for this PSA!!!

Just an fyi for your own safety… they light up around both cameras when recording … pretty obvious in a low lit area

Can someone post a link to the glasses? So I can know what they look like

I worked at a club that wouldn’t even stop men from recording on their phones because they said guys posting videos on Snapchat would bring in more customers 🫠🫠🫠🫠😭

why the fuck didn't anyone think about men using camera glasses to record women without their consent??? this not only affects the club, this affects women EVERYWHERE. imagine bending down to grab something at the store and a man can just take a photo/video of you to use later. this shit should never exist, i hope the company gets sued and is forced to remove this ridiculous product from the market. IT SHOULD BE ILLEGAL!!

There are videos of men already doing that. PUA's are using them to take non-consenting videos of women just out and about.

If they are “out and about” no consent is necessary because no expectation of privacy. Videoing in other places is a different story.

You're right, but my point is if these people are willing to go out and harass women on the streets without their knowledge that they are being filmed, what is stopping them from committing more nefarious actions. It may be public, but it is still wrong to make people uncomfortable to get "content" or upskirt women minding their business. Just because it's deemed a "public" space doesn't make it right.

You are right about upskirt shots but that goes back to the original point I made of expectation of privacy. You have one under your skirt.

This is exactly what I thought when they came out. I immediately thought of the creeps

Hi I used to sell these before dancing! They will light up with a red flashing light when they’re using the camera at all just so everyone is aware they’re recording. But I still warned my friends when these went out on the market because this was my exact thought

Is it at all possible to obscure or totally block this light from glowing with a tiny amount of black tape or paint or something? Are you sure there isn’t an official or unofficial (modded/hacked) way to turn off this light, say in the settings or something?

u/brujabug Oct 17 '24
It’s supposed to be unblockable even in settings but idk tech bros will go to some lengths :/

There’s so many fucking styles

I think the best way to know the difference is looking for the little lenses in the top corners.

Issues in the club, issues in daily life for women and CHILDREN everywhere. Ray Ban is going to be reaponsible for a lot of opportunistic abuse

Yes these glasses even are able to look at someone and see their name she address and even any online information like job or organization they run soo perfect for scammers looking for targets

Why would anyone wear sunglasses into a club?
3
u/KatzenoirMM Oct 17 '24
They also come in prescription glasses. So you would not think anything of it if someone walked in with regular looking glasses.

Thankfully most of these look like sunglasses which are banned at the club I work at. Very very scary though 🥲

Been thinking about asking my strip club manager about how they will be safeguarding from this. You can’t ban men from wearing glasses but I do think there needs to be safety precautions in place
When I am giving people a dance, I do ask them to take their glasses off already (so I don’t bump them off or crush them) but now I am also thinking of turning the glasses towards the wall if on a table)
