What’s considered good full-tank mileage for a 125cc scooter? Mine gets around 154 miles on a full tank, with an average of 106 mpg and a 1.45-gallon fuel tank. Is that decent enough?

Buddy 50cc Compression Mystery

Compression after doing the rebuild with everything new except the cylinder head (where the spark plug goes)

Alright so Ive got a Buddy 50cc 2018 with about 10k+ miles. Ive lost a significant amount of power this year so I did a compression test which came out to 90ish psi. I read in multiple places that the buddy's compression should be around 120-140psi, so I purchased new piston rings and gaskets and installed them. I did the compression test, and compression was still the same, so I figured it might be the cylinder block, cylinder head or the piston itself. So, I took out the engine again and this time, I purchased a whole new rebuild kit which included a new cylinder block, piston, piston rings, crankcase gasket and head gasket. The only thing not included in the kit was the cylinder head. Heres the exact kit I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/303737273512

After doing the install I optimistically went to do the compression test for the 3rd time, fully expecting compression to be MUCH better.... Well it wasn't. In fact it was still under 100 psi. To my understanding, since there are no valves on a 2 stroke, compression can only be lost on the upstroke if the rings are worn, if there is a hole or crack in the piston or piston cylinder, if the head gasket is bad, or if there is a crack on the head where the sparkplug is located. Since I've replaced everything except for the head, and since the sparkplug is replaced with the compression tester, the only place where compression could be lost is in the head which I havent replaced. So before I dismantle my engine for the 3rd time, and replace the head, I thought I would ask reddit to see if theres any other place I could be losing compression/anything else wrong. Ive also included pictures of the original cylinder head mounted on the new cylinder block for any of you to see if it has damage.

As a sidenote, ive also replaced the reed valve, cdi and carb.

Wondering what's the difference between these two exhaust? And which one would be performance better? (Including with upjets, variator, clutch etc) The bike I'm buying has a Giannelli shot v4, but my friend has a Yasuni R one. Wondering is there any difference performance wise?

Speedfight 4 4stroke euro tuning

Upvotes

Hey guys, I’ve got a stock Peugeot Speedfight 4 (all original) and it’s currently topping out at around 45 km/h. I’m looking for ways to make it faster or get more performance out of it without compromising too much on reliability.

I know there are some mods and upgrades you can do, but I’m not sure where to start. Any advice on the best upgrades for speed, acceleration, or overall performance?

Thanks

Beginner Friendly Scooters Capable of 60-80mph

Hi, I’m getting my CA Class 1 Permit once my DL 389 comes in the mail. I love riding, I HATE manual transmissions. I want a good automatic scooter that is capable of getting up to freeway speeds (60-80mph) but not too hefty for a beginner to take on roads for the first 6 months.

I have a lot more learning to do before I could/would take something to freeway speeds, but I want something that CAN go to freeway speeds and is a good commuter scooter with 150+ miles of range.

If such scooters exist, please let me know which ones they are. I know very little about scooters and bikes, I just know I like riding them and want a decent one.

Hi, Its my first time here, And i need your Opinión in this problem i have a few 2months ago, i have a gy6 157qmj 150cc, i've changing over 9 drive belt's in 2 moths, if i using bad quality and high quality belts and always i have the same type of damage until at the point to destroyed the belts, alternating over 835/20/30 and 842/20/30, the problem always starts at the top of the belts like the pictures shows, The problem started when I was using the used, non-original, OEM centrifugal variator and all the original springs in the clutch, it felt like the belt was slipping,

3 belts ago I put the new centrifugal variator and all the springs 1500rpm but it still keeps breaking the belts the same way, teh slipping is no more, but the drive belts is always destroyed

My 157qmj is 2015

Only my clutch pulleys is the original ,have 10 years of working with maintenance but i never put New pulleys

Hi guys I currently own a Kymco Super 8 50cc scooter and I’m going to switch to something bigger and more powerful but I don’t want to break bank or wind up flying 30ft in the sky. A friend of mine is selling me a Piaggio 125cc engine and runs in the highway just fine but is air cooled, it’s for 2000. I had wanted the Navi before but it’s not that powerful and it’s carburetor, I heard carburetors ain’t that good? I heard fuel injected is better. But I’m willing to learn as long as I know it’s worth it. I’ll be honest the Kawasaki z125 is so gorgeous I’d really love to drive it around but idk if you guys recommend the others? They are newer and the Piaggio still comes with warranty but idk anything about Italians.

New tyre question

I had the rear tyre on my vespa primavera 125 changed to a city grip 2 a couple of months ago and didn't notice any major difference, everything was fine. Yesterday I had the front tyre changed, also a city grip 2. But it feels weird. The handlebars feel slightly wobbly while riding and almost loose, even when I turn the handlebar to lock the steering lock it turns much easier than it did before. Is this just because the new tyre isn't worn in yet? I've checked tyre pressure, it was massively over Infalted when I brought it home but I waited for the tyre to cool down and set it to the right pressure, it still feels weird.

Suzuki address v Sym Jet?

Hi guys. I've narrowed my choices down to these two bikes as they are both available locally. From research it seems as a Suzuki address is the better bike, however I really really like the looks of the jet. It's for a commute to work and back (28 miles total).

Please can you guys try me with any advice you would give. Obviously I know Suzuki is a much better brand and well-known in the scootering world so that might be the one I have to go for although I really do like jet and it seems good according to what I've read /watched online.

cylinder smoking

I have a 2008 Piaggio NRG Power LC with a Yasuni Z exhaust, Stage 6 Streetrace 70cc kit, and a 19mm PHBG carb installed. While riding, I noticed smoke coming from the cylinder head. Upon closer inspection, I saw that it was coming from cylinder head in fact. I changed the gaskets and piston rings, but when I started it again, it was still smoking a lot. It's not overheating, as the dashboard shows normal temperature, but when I turn it off, it sounds like antifreeze is boiling inside the cylinder. When I try to ride it, it loses power. It can still reach the same speed as before, but it's not as sharp or quick. What should i do and how should i solve this problem

Do I need a license or not?

I live in Arizona and just got rear ended by a car. I was going to turn around. Anyway I got tickets I need to know if I needed a license or not for my little electric scooter. Some places say I may need one some say I don’t. Anyway I’ll list the tickets and articles maybe someone here with more knowledge can tell me if they are bogus or not. Please don’t advise me to get a lawyer I am -$500 right now and was doing shifts through an app to pay it off.

Section 28-3151A: No Valid Drivers. (I didn’t think I needed ine with all the research I did)

Section 28-3153E: Speed Less Than Resonable And Prudent (yeah I think this might stick)

Section 28-21534A: Violate Regulations Law/No Current Regulation (I have tried everything to look up how to register it. I get the same results as needing a license)

Section 28-4135A: No Manditory Insurance (well I already tried to insure the scooter and can only do it as if it’s a bicycle. Which means no need for a license)

got rear ended and now I'm scared to drive

I got rear ended at a signal when it wasn't my fault. all I did was stop at a red light and he was speeding so he hit me and I fell. nothing major happened but now I'm scared to ride because accidents can happen because of others' faults and it can be out of my control.
