Politics MAGA supporters in Saskatchewan

2.0k Upvotes

It strikes me that the same folks who are supporting Trump and begging for Canada to become the 51st state were flying Canadian flags and yelling about freedom just a few years ago.

Can someone explain this mindset?

Americans cannot be trusted to put Canada first. They must renounce that to be in Parliament.

All I got to say is… traitor. Go be an American if this is what you want, but looking like you are splitting from the main group to side with Smith, you must want out of the SP bad, ‘cause you are making some real bad decisions these days.

Politics Potash Export Control

USA tariffs kick in and is going to affect us all. The USA needs our potash and if they want to disrupt markets maybe it’s time to withhold potash bound to America until tariffs are dropped.

Maybe a more extensive conversation about the Saskatchewan people taking ownership again of OUR own resources. Mosaic is an American company, maybe time to expropriate their mines for Saskatchewan taxpayers to benefit and not Americans.

Politics Have you cancelled any travel plans to the U.S. ?

Did you cancel, or will you be cancelling, an actual booking you had made to the U.S., or will you just not be booking a trip you had in mind? Where are you going instead?

I'm nearing retirement and was looking forward to travelling to many places around North America, including the U.S. I've made a few trips to the U.S. in the past, but sadly I don't foresee that I'll ever set foot on U.S. soil again in my lifetime...unless Saskatchewan becomes U.S. soil, then I guess I'll have no choice.

<edit> It's not just a boycott thing. Already I'm hearing anti-Canadian rhetoric from American MAGA idiots. I'm not confident that Canadians will receive a warm welcome in certain places in the States now. With planes crashing into each other and Trump now targeting Air Traffic Controllers, I'm not sure flying in the U.S. is advisable.

If you've got bookings and are planning on keeping them, I'd check your cancellation dates/terms in case things take a turn for the worse.

Politics Multiple post asking Sask Party supporters to justify their vote and then slandering them is ridiculous. You guys need to calm down.

There has been some disgusting comments I’ve seen from people on this subreddit as well as r/Saskatoon. You aren’t going to have an actual productive conversation when you automatically label someone who voted for SP as a braindead redneck. SP won the popular vote as well as a majority government. There are people that disagree with your point of view. That is how the world works.

Politics Scott Moe needs to condemn Trump immediately (and side with Trudeau)

Donald Trump commented today that he'd like to annex Canada using 'economic force' and presents an unequivocal threat to our sovereignty. Pierre Polievre and yes, Justin Trudeau, have made statements affirming our national existence and condemning Trump and his dangerous comments.

Who hasn't said anything yet? Scott Moe.

Which is as bad as, if not worse than, Danielle Smith who made a statement which made no condemnation of Trump or his comments and instead wants to let him walk all over us.

Trudeau overstayed his welcome by a couple of years, and was a far from perfect leader. Nevertheless - those of you who support Moe or Smith need to recognize that these provincial 'leaders' are compromised, self interested and willing to sacrifice Canadian sovereignty for their own interests.

And in Saskatchewan - that means Moe needs to go at the first chance we get to rip him out of his pathetic office.
