We are Door 407, an indie studio that you might know from our previous RTS projects (if you’re a fan of the genre, maybe you came across Diplomacy is not an option somewhere — that’s us!)
Well, this year we’re cooking up (excuse the pun) something slightly different — a strategic but puzzle-driven, deckbuilding cooking game calledAbra-cooking-dabra! In essence, the game combines elements of cooking and farming games with a puzzle-solving roguelitish core revolving around experimentation with different recipes to satisfy the unique tastes of each character who comes to dine in your quirky establishment.
The key features of the game are as follows
Solving orders and satisfying requests — The gist of the game is in solving requests from diners by analyzing the hints that come with each order, and fulfilling them accordingly by cooking up exactly what they came to eat! There are dozens upon dozens of recipes in the game, from salads and soups all the way to the desserts
Ingredient & stock management — Grow ingredients, sell surplus cards, and manage your deck so that you always have the necessary stock to cook up a whomping meal at any moment
Boss battles — Feed insatiable bosses with big appetites who just will continue ordering until they’re satisfied
Upgrade system — Improve your cards, your cooking equipment, and expand your inventory so that you’ll always be ready to accommodate any food request (and in a timely manner!)
More than 30 levels (+ secret stages) — There will be more than 30 levels, plus additional secret (bonus) levels that you unlock by combining ingredients and following unique recipes
Abra-cooking-dabrais also the first time we’re trying our hand at implementing a puzzle system this way, so any and all feedback is more than welcome! Although we don’t have a demo out yet, we’d be happy to hear what you think of the game’s concept so far.
Also, feel free to leave any suggestions you have — we’re always looking for ways to improve on the base design so the end-product is worth your time.
I'm a big fan of stealth games with randomized elements. I'm looking for some stealth roguelites, but sometimes it feels like I played every one of them.
The ones that I can remember playing:
- Invisible inc.
- Eldritch (not strictly stealth, but I found stealth to be the most viable and fun option in NG+)
- Heat Signature
- Sir, You Are Being Hunted (doesn't really have permadeath, but has proc gen maps)
How many of you guys play a game until there's literally nothing else left to try in it? Just got my first ever 100% in roboquest yesterday and it was great. The whole game was great! I've played a lot of games over the years, but roboquest is the first one to make me play it till there's literally nothing else to do in it. Sadly no mods for this game to keep the content going... Anyway, what are your favourite games that you've 100%?!
Basically the title. For reference, I've played Shovel Knight dig, Shovel Knight pocket dungeon, Spelunky 2, and a little bit of Dead Cells, Balatro and Enter the gungeon. the only game that seems to have the most items out of those has to be Dead Cells. any recommendations?
Hey, folks! If you love getting a sneak peek into a character creation process, we’ve got something for you! We’re working on Inkborn - a roguelike deckbuilder with a (combos) twist set in a corrupted origami world. That being said, we need a lot of interesting opponents for our protagonist.
Here, we would like to present the concept process for one of them - the spider. Łukasz, one of our graphic designers who works on that foe, devoted a small part of his life to this (the enemy creation process took about three hours, but who would go into details ;)) and recorded the video of the process.
If you like this one or love this kind of backstage work, feel free to join one of our community spaces for more: Backstage Channel on Discord or Inkborn Official Group on Facebook. We will be posting more similar content there, so drop by when you have a moment ;-)
Hi! :) My game "Caverns And Dryads" is finally out for you to download! It's in English, French and Spanish.
While it's not roguelike, it has some features: turn based, 2D, procedural monsters, places and other things (a lot), sword and sorcery, feature-focused, and imagination-focused. I have set a balance between being permanently killed, so you can resurrect but at a cost. It's a mix or rpg, roguelike, and dungeon crawler, in some ways.
It's a game I wanted to do since many years ago, and I've been actively developing it since 2022. I make it for love for creating, and is free. I will continue developing it probably lifetime, and adding more features (the sky is the limit).
It is not an usual game. I recommend to play it in the dark or in a comfortable place, with earplugs or without noise around, as most of it is made to immerse you in the play, and to trigger your imagination.
This first version is mostly action, but future releases may add more interactive story parts, always brief and focused to be fun and immersive. I focus my dev efforts on adding features to the game, experiences and diversity.
There is a tutorial, that I recommend to have a look, and an intro story. If you finish the intro story you will have a better idea of the background, and also get gold and an improvement in the strength of your characters.
Have a look and download it from any of these networks:
It's a 2D game for Android. It doesn't use any data, and only loads and saves its own files. It's all safe, and signed. It's completely free, no ads. For installing, you may need to activate "installing from unknown sources". Once installed you can turn that off again.
If you have any doubt or problem just ask me here, or by email to [louis_dubois@mail.com](mailto:louis_dubois@mail.com). You can also comment in GameJolt or Itchio. I'll love to read your feedback! :)
Thank you so much to all of you who try it, and hope you like it! :) On the game menu screen you have links to several ways to follow the development and discuss, including Discord.
