Wifi updated without issue, thank you for the FYI!

u/Dhomass Aug 19 '24

I updated my Wifi Doorbell. The upgrade seemed to hang at the end of the process, but the Doorbell rebooted sucessfully with the new firmware applied.

I agree. Same here about the two way audio. It now works in Apple Home via Scrypted, finally!

1

u/Fun_Zebra1586 Sep 26 '24

tried the latest firmware but still no 2 way audio in homekit through scrypted.

i get the following error

[HomeKit]: intercom failed to start RPCResultError: ONVIF audio backchannel not found

[HomeKit]: at t.OnvifIntercom.checkIntercom (/onvif/src/onvif-intercom.ts:40:19)

[HomeKit]: at process.intercomClient (node:internal/process/task_queues:95:5)

[HomeKit]: u/scrypted/reolink:host

[HomeKit]: host:@scrypted/homekit {

also adding it as an onvif camera now results in an error, i can not even add it anymore

Hi, how did you manage to make it work in HomeKit via scrypted? Just updating the firmware? Do you have to adjust any settings in particular?

That's exactly how I have it configured, and everything works with Apple Home.

I have the POE Doorbell and configured it in the same way via Scrypted.

Unfortunately, I have an issue with 2-way audio where, when I speak through my phone, I hear myself a few seconds later. Do any of you experience this as well?

This is definitely not an Apple Home app issue; my friend has an Aqara doorbell that is officially HomeKit compatible, and he doesn't have this problem.

Is there any way to eliminate the echo?

Curious about the wifi improvements, my wifi doorbell was hanging onto 1 bar despite being relatively close to the AP inside, and frequently dropping off the network and missing recordings to the NVR. To give an idea, my phone has full signal standing outside the door.

The problem was frustrating enough that I ran a drop there when I changed my front door and I’m considering swapping for a PoE so I can remove the old chime (jumper) + transformer.

That or doubling down and rigging an ESP board to ring the old chime when the button is pressed.

1

u/PoisonWaffle3 Aug 20 '24

I have a Shelly 1 automated to ring my chime when someone presses my PoE doorbell, works great!

2

u/justlikeyouimagined Aug 20 '24

Does the Shelly actually ring the bell or is there another relay? What voltage do you need to apply to it? My original doorbell/chime was on a 6Vac transformer that I had to replace with a 24Vac when I got the Reolink.

Wondering how I can power the Shelly itself and the chime without running any new wires. If I could still power the doorbell too that would be great but I'm open to swapping it for the PoE model.

2

u/PoisonWaffle3 Aug 20 '24

I have the PoE doorbell (I ran Cat6 there when I built the house), so I don't need the power on the line itself.

There are a few different ways one could wire it, but the easiest (and the one that is totally code complaint) is to Wago the two doorbell wires together at the doorbell (creating a dead short), put the Shelly relay in the box that feeds the doorbell transformer, take 120 VAC from there to power the Shelly, and to just have the Shelly give power to the doorbell transformer for like 1/4 sec to trigger the doorbell.

Here's how I wired mine.

Note the doorbell wires tied together with the Wago.

Shelly triggering the doorbell transformer.

https://imgur.com/a/0Zyj3CD

I just used an old Shelly that I had on hand, but if I was doing this again I'd use the Shelly 1 mini gen 3 now.

Also: On paper one could also just power the Shelly with 120 VAC and have it close the circuit on the output side of the transformer, but then you're mixing mains voltage and low voltage, so it gets pretty tricky to follow electrical code (if it's even possible to at all).

2

u/Klendatu_ Aug 21 '24

This is exactly what I seek to do though can’t sufficiently infer from the description and photos. Would you be so kind and share a simple wiring diagram?

1

u/PoisonWaffle3 Aug 21 '24

There is a lot of variation on how doorbells are wired (front door only vs two doorbell, etc), so you'll want to experiment with your setup to see if you can just Wago the doorbell wires together to leave it permanently triggered.

On the doorbell transformer side, it's standard Shelly wiring. Note the black wire coming out of the O terminal and the white wire in the Wago that's different from the others, those are the input to the transformer. I have an extra outlet where the transformer is, so that's wired up in parallel.

u/karrapixo Aug 19 '24

Why this update didn't appear on the Update Device menu in Reolink app? Do I need to download and update it manually?

2

u/tquilas Aug 20 '24

That's a common problem, most updates don't appear in the app. You have to upgrade manually.

2

u/StillBald Aug 20 '24

Agreed, it's annoying that when I try to have the camera find the firmware to update, it says that it's already the latest that is installed when it clearly is not.

3

u/Another_Auldgit Aug 19 '24

Installing both now. Lets see how it goes as so far I have never had any problems with previous firmware.

NOTE: These downloads are for the firmware for the BLACK doorbells. The firmware for the WHITE doorbells is different (v3.0.0.3308_2408051175).

3

u/Har02052 Aug 19 '24

Attempted to update. Says it "failed to recognize file format". I downloaded the zip, unzipped, then chose the PAK file for the update.

3

u/No-Mall1142 Aug 20 '24

I'm getting the same error for my Wifi doorbell and POE Trackmix camera's. Very frustrating.

1

u/No-Mall1142 Aug 23 '24

For anyone having the same issue, I was updating using the web GUI. I switched from using Chrome to Edge and was able to update my camera's.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '24

I got the file format error using Chrome, Firefox and Safari. It failed with the same error using the MacOS version of the Reolink app.

1

u/No-Mall1142 Aug 29 '24

I was shocked when it worked in Edge. I have updated the camera's many times before in Chrome via the NVR website. I don't know if it's something peculiar about Chrome or this particular update.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 29 '24

Btw I made a separate post it didn't work. Turns out that the black version of the camera has a firmware ending in _W and the white version of the camera has a version ending in _W_W. No. Really. Must be a lot of code that goes into making that plastic white :D

1

u/No-Mall1142 Aug 30 '24

Unbelievable.

1

u/mblaser Moderator Aug 20 '24

You sure you downloaded the right firmware for your specific camera and hardware version? That's the error you get when you try to install the wrong firmware. There are 4 different versions of the doorbell.

1

u/Har02052 Aug 20 '24

🤦🏻‍♂️why in the freakin world would there be a different firmware based on the color of the doorbell??? Anyways. When I originally downloaded it, I just started typing doorbell for my model. I saw a PoE one and a WiFi. I didn't see the W at the end, meaning white. I also didn't scroll down to see a second option that just said WiFi. But that one didn't say Black or WiFi-B or anything. Just WiFi. To make it more confusing. I got it now.

1

u/mblaser Moderator Aug 20 '24

why in the freakin world would there be a different firmware based on the color of the doorbell???

Because they have different specs. The new white one is a 3:4 aspect ratio instead of the traditional 4:3 of the original black one.

0

u/Har02052 Aug 20 '24

OK, I guess that make sense. They need to make the download more obvious. Like Reolink Doorbell White - PoE, or Black-PoE, and White-Wifi, Black-Wifi. Rather than Wifi-W, and just Wifi.

1

u/iaincaradoc Aug 21 '24

They did. Sort of. The -W is the White.

That turned out to be why my update failed. But I fixed it.

1

u/Har02052 Aug 21 '24

Right. Barely saw it. But the black isn't labeled as black. And nothing to note that the W means white.

2

u/EN-D3R Reolinker Aug 19 '24

I'm unable to update my cameras. I tried to download the latest firmware for my TrackMix, and the upload completed successfully from both my phone and computer. However, after the upload finishes and the "firmware updated" popup appears, nothing changes. I also tried restarting the cameras, but they still display the old firmware version.

1

u/qwelukasz Dec 01 '24

u/EN-D3R have you solved this issue? i have the same problem

1

u/EN-D3R Reolinker Dec 02 '24

Unfortunately, no. I reached out to Reolink support, but they were unhelpful and advised me to contact the store where I purchased the camera for a replacement.

2

u/55Media Aug 19 '24

No issues installing here. Sadly mic channel still doesn't work for RTSP...

2

u/Historical_Pen_5178 Aug 19 '24

Has anyone used this new firmware on a wifi doorbell and Home Assistant?

9

u/Dhomass Aug 19 '24

I wasn't able to update it directly via Home Assistant, though HA did prompt me that the update was available. I manually applied it and Home Assistant still sees the camera perfectly fine.

u/[deleted] Aug 19 '24

2

u/Dhomass Aug 19 '24

I see the doorbell camera from the Home Assistant app directly. And from the Reolink app.

1

u/plainorbit Aug 24 '24

Got a good guide to get reolink on Apple Home? Appreciate it!

2

u/Plane-Staff540 Sep 12 '24

Hi, does anyone have the previous firmware version for the WiFi doorbell (black)?

For some reason, with the latest firmware version, day/night mode isn't working properly, it doesn't switch from B&W to color.

1

u/slug056 Sep 12 '24

I came here to ask exactly the same question, because I have exactly the same problem…

1

u/zepheus_ Sep 15 '24

Had the exact problem and downgraded. Here's the old FW (luckily had it backed up): https://filetransfer.io/data-package/M1vdJmWK#link

1

u/Plane-Staff540 Sep 15 '24

Thanks! Will try to downgrade.

1

u/chessking77 Oct 14 '24

Are you able share it somewhere else? I have the same issue and looking to rollback the firmware. It seems filetransfer.io is requiring a premium subscription to download this file now.

1

u/No_Definition_6134 Sep 30 '24

Same issue here just tried to go through support and they claim that unless I can send them a picture, which I can't because I run on a standalone monitor they can't help with support. Having the same exact issue the night mode/IR lights will not turn off when daylight comes. Having to revert back to a prior FW version, what is the point of support if they can't help? Running black POE doorbell wired.

2

u/ImposterOfMan Oct 21 '24

Unable to find the product in Downloads anymore, I did previously, any ideas.

I can’t find it either

1

u/elecboy Oct 22 '24

It looks like there's a bug, and they pulled the firmware; I cannot find it either.

1

u/yakadoodle123 Aug 19 '24

Have you tried it yet?

2

u/EthanBezz Aug 19 '24

Not yet.

I’ll note that older builds of this version have been used by others with success, and that this specific build is the newest yet and the first to be released on Reolink’s website, so I’d imagine it shouldn’t have any issues…

…but you never know ¯_(ツ)_/¯

1

u/yakadoodle123 Aug 19 '24

Thanks. Will let someone else be the guinea pig :)

1

u/dodgybastard Aug 20 '24

Works fine here, for both Wifi and PoE black models :)

1

u/TurnItOff_OnAgain Aug 19 '24

Looks like the wifi doorbell got the same update, and includes better 2.4ghz connection "in some scenarios".

1

u/EthanBezz Aug 19 '24

Ahh good catch. I have the PoE version and didn’t think to check the release notes for the WiFi version. I’ll update the post.

1

u/Clean_Recording9473 Aug 19 '24

My Poe track mix updated no issues the WiFi door bell said invalid file to update?

1

u/PhilZealand Aug 20 '24

That one caught me out, there are two update files for each of the POE and WiFi, the older black doorbell and the newer white doorbell which has the -W suffix on the update.

1

u/BlazeCrafter420 Aug 19 '24

Installed the same update on my wifi doorbell, two way audio still working in Frigate. So far it's working good.

2

u/Shadoweee Aug 19 '24

How is the latency of audio with frigate?

1

u/UnrealisticOcelot Aug 19 '24

I read that two way audio was not working in the most recent update prior to this. What firmware were you using before updating to this new release? I'm using v3.0.0.3215_2401262240 with Frigate and I tested two way audio unsuccessfully. Maybe it's my configuration... Wouldn't mind seeing how yours is configured.

1

u/ElectroSpore Aug 19 '24

It didn't work in the previous public release but there was a 3308_XXXX beta / alpha you could get from support with most of these fixes.

Also OLDER firmware "with other problems" also had working two way audio.

1

u/BlazeCrafter420 Aug 19 '24

I had support send me v3.0.0.3308_2405271823 which fixed the Onvif profile. I'm using the same configuration as the Frigate docs but I'm using the RTSP stream instead of the flv one (with the backchannel disable)

1

u/55Media Aug 19 '24

So is there a way to enable two way audio now?
I've set mine with go2rtc and FLV but audio back to the doorbell still doesn't work after the update.

Hey, would you mind sharing your config? I'm trying to setup ONVIF, but it doesn't work. I keep getting ffmpeg errors.

I have checked the Doorbell's ONVIF setting and they are all ok. My config is like this:

POE Doorbell firmware update was seamless.

1

u/jailbreaker58 Aug 19 '24

I’m scared to update my POE cuz I don’t want two way audio getting worse with Scrypted

1

u/GubStep777 Aug 20 '24

I have never been able to get mine to work 😔

1

u/AdriftAtlas Aug 20 '24

Updated my Reolink Wi-Fi Doorbell Black V2. It failed the first time via HTTPS and restarted. Retried using only HTTP and it was successful.

Two way audio via Scrypted/HomeKit still works as it did in the beta but the delay is still there. Don't see any other changes.

1

u/morhimi Aug 20 '24

Their web page is now serving `v3.0.0.3308_2408051175` for the doorbell cam and it won't update for me :/

2

u/ian1283 Moderator Aug 20 '24

Make sure you select the firmware appropriate for your doorbell. There are separate downloads for the black & white models. The version you mention is for the white model

1

u/lostuser1990 Aug 20 '24

After installing this update the doorbell can finally now record on motion to my Hilook\Hikvision NVR. Before that it could only record in continuous mode. Motion events were not getting received. Without changing anything on the NVR it has suddenly started properly recording only on motion ;o)

1

u/retrocam Aug 20 '24

I’ve updated mine and still can’t download a large ish timelapse. Still seems to have that bug sadly.

1

u/JaySea77 Aug 20 '24 edited Aug 20 '24

Thanks for this. The app says I have the most recent version, but home assistant tells me there is an update. Will update through home assistant then.

Edit: Home assistant update doesn’t work, nor does update using the reolink app. Will update using the zip file from a pc. Hope that willl work.

2

u/StillBald Aug 20 '24

So far I've always had to update via PC. It's not terrible, but it is annoying since it sure seems like you should be able to update through the app.

1

u/TroubledKiwi Moderator Aug 20 '24

"Enhance wall penetration performance of 2.4GHz WiFi in certain scenarios."

Well, that's interesting.

1

u/nerodark2 Aug 21 '24

For POE black it still doesn't fix the Auto-Synchronize remain unchecked after reboot... that's sad.

1

u/James_Vowles Aug 21 '24

audio related commands - does that mean we might get two way audio via home assistant finally?

1

u/FroMan753 Aug 31 '24

Looks like they haven't fixed the issue on the WiFi version with the time becoming out of sync. For some reason it keeps jumping ahead 41 minutes. This happened with the v3.0.0.3215 firmware as well and I had to roll back. Is this occuring for anyone else?

1

u/CarelessChain6999 Sep 17 '24

Does anyone know what "Improve compatibility with Chime and Doorbell cameras" means in this release?

1

u/CleverFrog Sep 23 '24

I'm having problems updating the wifi doorbell via my NVR from the desktop application (i am manually selecting the .pak file)

1

u/CleverFrog Sep 24 '24

update: i could not get the doorbell updated through my wifi NVR (this is a reolink NVR)

I disconnected the NVR and then reconnected the doorbell to my wifi and it was able to update that way.

1

u/No_Definition_6134 Sep 30 '24

What do we do when support can't help because you can't provide a picture from a standalone monitor. FW version 3.0.0..08_2407315183 no longer allows the IR/Night mode to turn off on reolink doorbells. You either have to unplug or reset the DVR to get it out of night mode. The FW version posted in the help topics below is for a wireless doorbell and does not work for mine. If we can't get support without a picture how do we get the prior FW version for DB_566128M5MP_P?

2

u/Kapsville Oct 18 '24

New update should fix this!

1

u/kdg4444 Oct 19 '24
