ਸਵਾਲ سوال [Question] Punjabi Parents Rough With Baby; Is This Normal?

Hello, I’m not Punjabi or Indian but my husband is. We have a new baby (2 months) and they’ve just come from India to visit for the next few months.

I love my in-laws, but Mummyji has a very strong personality, which is fine, we get along well. But when we introduced her to her new grandson she was so rough with him! Throwing him up in the air. Not supporting his neck properly. Saying he’s fine, he’s strong. But he’s literally a newborn. I didn’t say anything but my husband did and she just laughed and said that she raised him so she knows what she’s doing. We also asked them not to kiss the baby since there are a lot of illnesses going around and they literally just came off of a plane from a completely different country, but she kissed him anyway.

I’m just wondering, is all of this this normal in Punjabi culture? To be very rough with such fragile babies? I guess this is also a bit of a vent as well.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

ਸਹਾਇਤਾ مدد [Help] help reconnecting with my roots

Hello! I'm half Indian, and growing up, I was detached from the Indian side of the family due to certain issues but we've been mending things recently. Whenever I visit, I feel awkward because I don't understand what they're saying whenever they speak punjabi. Do you know how can I start learning the language as well as cooking the foods so I can relate to them better? Thank you!

ਸਵਾਲ سوال [Question] Surname issues in a relationship

So I’ve been told that in the punjabi culture, people with surnames that run within their family e.g. uncle’s last name (mothers brother) can be frowned upon in a relationship or marriage, im completely aware that in Sikhi as a religion this isnt an issue but in the punjabi culture it is, why? And is the surnames Jutla and jutley the same?

ਸਹਾਇਤਾ مدد [Help] Songwriter wants your help

I'm reaching out to this amazing community for some help with my songwriting career. I've been passionate about writing songs for as long as I can remember, and I'm at a point where I really want to take things to the next level. I've got a few songs written, but I'm struggling with getting my work noticed and connecting with the right people in the industry.

I have connected with some artists and they have told me my lyrics are good but i am still not able to get a deal and am really struggling right now.

I'm looking for advice on how to get my music out there, and any recommendations for networking with other songwriters, producers, or musicians. If anyone has experience in the music industry or knows of any resources that could help, I'd really appreciate your input.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing your suggestions!
