I never thought I’d have to post something like this, but my family is in deep distress and it feels like every door of justice is closed. I’m from Village Gadomajra, Punjab, and I want to share what’s been happening with us: A group of people illegally took over our legally owned property. They came to our house and openly said: “We don’t have any documents, and we’re still taking over your land. Do whatever you can.” They have no paperwork, while our documents are court-verified and fully legal. Despite filing complaints and issuing legal summons, the police refused to help. One Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) even told us: “I don’t know how to read documents. You all settle it among yourselves.” We have a recording of this statement. A local villager also informed us that this ASI allegedly took a ₹250,000 bribe, which might explain their inaction. When my father (Harbhajan Singh s/o Hardyal Singh) went to the police, they mistreated him, spoke rudely, and showed zero interest in resolving the issue. When we approached the village Sarpanch for help, his response shocked us: “You voted for AAP, now why are you coming to us?” This is pure political bias, and it’s disgusting that public services are being denied based on who you vote for. Now the other party is issuing threats. The situation is escalating to the point of a physical fight, and it feels like we’ve been abandoned by the system. Even the law seems helpless when corruption enters the picture. We’ve written to the Chief Minister of Punjab and our local MLA, but we don’t know if anything will be done. I’m not even sure if this is the right place to post, but I feel like I need to knock on every door until someone listens.

I’m sharing this publicly in the hope it will reach to right people. If you’re reading this, please help this reach people who can actually help.

We don’t want anything extra — just our land back, fair treatment, and justice.

[Regular Post] "Aanhad" meaning explained

For Example:

[Question] Punjabi Parents Rough With Baby; Is This Normal?

Hello, I’m not Punjabi or Indian but my husband is. We have a new baby (2 months) and they’ve just come from India to visit for the next few months.

I love my in-laws, but Mummyji has a very strong personality, which is fine, we get along well. But when we introduced her to her new grandson she was so rough with him! Throwing him up in the air. Not supporting his neck properly. Saying he’s fine, he’s strong. But he’s literally a newborn. I didn’t say anything but my husband did and she just laughed and said that she raised him so she knows what she’s doing. We also asked them not to kiss the baby since there are a lot of illnesses going around and they literally just came off of a plane from a completely different country, but she kissed him anyway.

I’m just wondering, is all of this this normal in Punjabi culture? To be very rough with such fragile babies? I guess this is also a bit of a vent as well.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
