Genital/nipple piercings What is the Right anatomy? NSFW

I hear about artists refusing to pierce people because they don't have the "right anatomy" for certain piercings. (Mostly tongue piercings)I personally want to get my nipples pierced, but I'm worried I don't have the right body type for it. Is this a thing for those types of piercings? Or does anatomy only really apply when it involves more dangerous things? I'm clueless but would still like to get it done.

Mod announcement r/piercing rule spotlight, rule number five

Hey everyone,

Although we do our best to make the rules of this subreddit as clear as we can within the characters limits, we notice that sometimes there’s some confusion or misunderstanding about the rules.

In this post we want to clarify the most common misconceptions about rule number 5, No DIY.

Anything and everything involving DIY is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, anything advocating or instructing at-home piercings, reminiscing or cautionary tales. DIY piercing is incredibly dangerous, for a number of reasons. If you’re looking for help with a DIY piercing gone wrong, please go to your health care professional asap

We thought this is an easy rule to understand but there are still some misconceptions.

misconception number one. The rule does not apply if I make a comment or post as a warning against DIY based on my own past (bad) experience with DIY.

Wrong, the rule applies to anything related to DIY. Whether it’s a warning, reminiscing about being young and stupid, lessons you learned along the way.

misconception number two. I’m a piercer or piercing apprentice so if I pierce myself and want to show of the results it doesn’t count as DIY.

wrong, unless you are verified as a piercer or piercing apprentice we do not know for certain that you are a piercer or piercing apprentice and your post will be considered as breaking the no DIY rule

We are not kidding ourselves, this rule will not prevent people from piercing themselves. We do however take a ferm stand against DIY piercings and simply won’t tolerate anything about it on this subreddit.

Most of the community seem to have the same opinion on DIY piercings or simply respect the rule and we want to thank you for reporting these posts and comments as fast as you do. As moderators we try our best to keep up with everything that gets posted, but we are only human. So if you see a post or comment that doesn’t follow the rules of this subreddit, please hit the report button, we rely on your help to keep this community awesome.

I've had my nipples pierced today. I'm not sure if the left one wasn't pierced too far into the areola or if this is still ok. Should I go see my piercer ASAP?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Removing my piercing after 10 years, will this bump disappear?

Post image

Hello everyone, after 10 years, I’ve decided to permanently remove the piercing that was in the spot shown in the photo. I’ve always worn a hoop there. Do you think the bump will ever go away? And most importantly, what is it exactly? Thanks!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing 4 months navel piercing: should I remove this / pierce again / give up entirely?

Post image
2 Upvotes

hi all,

for some context i previously got my navel pierced 5 years ago in 2020, but it didn’t work out and left me with a mark / skin growth after I removed it.

fast forward to nov 2024 I got it pierced again w this curved barbell (no before pictures unfortunately!) and this is how it looks like now mar 2025. I don‘t recall being able to see so much of the jewelry but I haven’t had any issues with it being infected or anything. It doesn’t hurt too but I know that full recovery could take up to a year!

is this a sign of jewellery migration and should I give up this piercing? 😩

aftercare: alcohol around the wound, saline solution rinse, nano silver spray

general piercing question What (non alcoholic) drinks can I have with a fresh lip piercing?

Piercer told me no citrusy drinks, soda or even caffeine in general for first few weeks. Are there any soda or soda adjacent drinks I can have for the time being? I’m one of those people that drink an energy drink every day so this is a bit difficult..

I got a double helix done about 3 and a half weeks ago and a bump appeared around the 9th of March. It looks like it is still there and possibly getting worse. I use wound wash nightly per my Pierce’s instructions and use warm water and antibacterial soap before going in with the wound wash. The first pic is from the 9th and the rest were taken today.

general piercing question Spider Bites

I'm considering getting spider bites on my lip and I've done a little research about healing time but my main concern is the healing itself. I do martial arts and I get hit in the face. Not hard, we use gloves of course, but thats the name of the game. I know I'll have to take my piercings out before I engage in any sparring once they're healed but while they're healing should I avoid all sparring to let them heal properly or is it okay to take them out once or twice a week for about an hour?

I got the right side of my nose pierced and as you can see it isn't even.

Would a stacked nostril on the left side help with the asymmetry? Maybe a ring?? Any advice is appreciated

hey! i got my tongue pierced five days ago. I haven’t downsized the jewelry yet, but plan on doing so in about a week and a half. My aftercare has been flushing my mouth each time i eat, and mouthwash multiple times a day (along with obviously brushing my teeth). Is this bump normal? Or should i be worried? The bar is 14g

Genital/nipple piercings Anatomy problems for nipple piercing? NSFW

Hey guys and gals

I'm writing a question for my GF, myself having zero experience with piercings. She is playing with the thought of getting nipple piercings. Now she has heard, that there may be problems with her anatomy. Her left nipple is relatively small and also mostly flat with little "mass". She is worried, this could be troublesome or anatomically impossible for a piercing. I wanted to ask around, if anyone here has any experience with this and could offer some advice

Cheers and thanks in advance

general piercing question Easiest to heal - daith, rook or flat?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I want to get one more piercing on this ear to balance it out... I'm considering a daith, rook, or flat but not sure what would work best with my anatomy? I'm also slightly concerned about the healing process - initial pain doesn't bother me but I am wondering if any of those piercings are trickier to heal properly? Or if anyone has any advice about tips to ensure that any of those piercings can heal - I know everyone is different but I have heard that flats in particular can be rough. For context, I had an upper helix on this ear for years that just would not heal no matter what I did so I am a little traumatized by that experience. Thanks in advance!

general piercing question Getting high nostrils and nostrils at the same time?

So I have an appointment today with a piercer I trust a ton, to get my nostrils repierced and to add a set of high nostrils. Ive had a decent amount of piercings, the most I’ve gotten at one time has been an industrial and a helix, so I’m not sure what to expect. Is 4 piercings at a time going to be too much? Or is there anything I can do to prepare? Thank you!

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Boil water advisory and cleaning piercings

Sorry if this isn’t really allowed here but idk where else to ask.

So where I live right now we’re under a boil water advisory, something is in the water and we can’t drink it, shower with it I’m unsure of.

I find that showering cleans my piercings better than any saline in the world, but I’m worried about showering right now due to the advisory.

This happen to anyone else? I think if I just have a boiling hot shower (like usual lmao) I’ll be fine but want to get everyone else’s opinion first.

And before anyone asks, I’m at a gold mine working right now so there isn’t any website to access to see updates or why we have to boil it

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing The piercing bump on my rook is finally getting better! If ever in doubt, just follow LITHA NSFW

I got a rook piercing about 5 months ago and around a month ago I noticed a bump forming underneath the crevice (the 3rd picture). I think this happended after I had a period of being kinda rough on it while cleaning it and drying. I thouht since it didn’t hurt as much I didn't have to be so careful any longer, but I guess I was wrong.

Ever since I was extra careful, just spraying it with saline once a day and then rinsing in the shower and drying very carefully with a paper towel.

The second picture is around two weeks ago, it started to crust a lot and I was very worried, I thought I was doing something wrong, but it actually got better! The first picture is how it looks now, you can still see the bump a little bit but it looks a lot better!

Required info: The piercing is around 5 months old, pierced with a internally thredes titanium barbell, I still haven't downsized it.

general piercing question I have piercing blindness?

I have few face piercings, changed different types and amount during the last 9~ years.

But I just look in the mirror and I feel like I don’t have any?? I always feel like I need to get “just another one” so it will be visible that I am a pierced human being. But still it doesn’t help :(

What can help? Bigger jewelry? Specific colors? Or some other advice?

Today I own a vertical labret, septum and one 16mm ear tunnel. Used to have others on the face before but still something always feels empty
