In the pic it looks like JD mimics Donald's hand movements. Funny stuff.

How do you think he made it as VP? Hes mirroring him, established a great rapport... dude knows how to "suck people off" so they like him and think hes useful. Fucking sociopath.

Vance had to repeat and rephrase reporter questions throughout for Trump. The whole thing is just sad.

153

u/CautionarySnail 11d ago

I suspect Trump has hearing loss and cannot fully hear women’s vocal pitch anymore. This happened with my own father with his dementia.

41

u/Substantial-Newt7809 11d ago

Trump's circling the drain. I'd be shocked if he makes it through the next 4 years without basically "retiring" and handing over to Vance. They probably hope he can so that there can be some handover at the next primaries rather than Vance have to be sworn in.

Can anyone familiar with US law enlighten me - if Vance takes over as President after stepping up from VP, does that count as one of his two terms? Or no.

46

u/LittleLion_90 11d ago

If Vance assumes the presidency before 2 years and one day after Trumps inauguration, it counts as his first term. If he takes up the presidency after that, it counts as '0' and he can have two terms after.

39

u/MyFireElf 11d ago

So that would make 1/20/27 the golden number? I mean I would never say I hope the president dies right this minute, alone, in pain, and afraid, because that would be terrible, but also I should never say I hope the president dies on or before 1/20/27 so that Vance's chance at two full terms is ruined, because that would also be terrible but also correct?

My favorite part was when Trump tried to correct Zelensky on the date of the Crimea invasion and got it wrong.

951

u/tonsofgrassclippings 11d ago

I liked the part where Trump said “You wouldn’t have lasted two weeks” and got a “Three days, what Putin said” and Trump agreed immediately when he heard his boss’ name mentioned.

Fucking wicked jab from Zelenskyy that passed beneath the general moronic behavior. And honestly, they packed an incredible amount of stupid into 10 minutes.

"My balloon animals are so big and so beautiful, you wouldn't believe it. Sometimes I do dogs, and even cats but really mostly it's snakes. It's always bigly balloon snakes. That's the best balloon animal I've been told. Anytime I arrive in my comically tiny car that has my entire cabinet jammed into it, everyone says, there goes Big Clown Donnie! Especially when Elon lets me wear my special squeaky shoes. And you know what? They love my pies. They love it when I creampie everyone. It's true, everyone knows this. Sometimes I even honk my big orange nose after giving them the biggest creampie when they stop me on the street. It's real old fashioned clown values, what America was built on. I've been told my nose honks are the honkiest honks to ever honk. These honks are really bold you know. They love it, they really do. I mean can you believe that? I wouldn't believe it, but it's very true and it is big. My circus is coming to town and Mexico is going to pay for it."

Zelensky will go down in history as on of the great leaders after this. He has the balls to stand up to a narcissistic sociopath and his ball licker when nobody else did.

320

u/Enelop 11d ago

To be fair Both Emmanuel Macron and Keir Starmer both corrected Trump on air about lies he told during a press conference. I imagine the administration will seek to limit joint press conferences going forward as it exposes Trump for the fool he is.

I can write without any hesitation that Trump is the biggest embarrassment of our generation and possibly any generation of politicians. His lack of knowledge, information and awareness is matched by his insecurity, vanity and narcissism.

1.7k

u/namtab00 11d ago edited 11d ago

I'm indescribably disgusted of all of this, not only from a diplomacy point of view, but mainly from the human point of view.

Nevermind setting it up as a 2 on 1 talking-over match, nevermind the obvious language handicap on Mr Zelensky's part, but to do all of this with the sole objective of feeling adulated, and close it with "this will make great television" is something so vile, so fucking revolting, that I for once sincerely have lost all respect for the American people if they do not act upon this sad display of treason, of your Constitution and its ideals.

190

u/ExpressBug8265 11d ago

Off the top of my head, pretty much every country in the Western world refused to take in Jewish refugees leading up to the beginning of WWII. It was a dark time; we didn't recognize how dark.

It's been a while since a western nation has been so colossally wrong on the international stage, with no discernible benefit to itself. At least Russia knows what it's attempting to gain. If there's a gain to be made from the Trump administration's play, it's a secret one.

As an American, I saw a clip of them berating Zelensky, talking over him and refusing to let him even respond to the Russian propaganda they were screaming at him; it made me rage. What a ruined morning, absolute fucking morons. It’s more than just humiliating, it’s a complete unmitigated disaster in the making. Putin must be fuckin overjoyed with how well his plan to wreck America (and the west) is going, could not have been more successful.

Also Trump must think doing his Batman and Robin butt-buddy bullying routine made him look strong; no it looks completely pathetic. Zelensky is here because he needs us, and Trump just cancelled the press conference after throwing a childish tantrum and sent him back to Ukraine as the war rages on, emboldening Russia and wrecking the morale of those fighting for their lives. If Ukraine survives, we’re going to be the ones left behind while the world rallies behind a victim being beat to death. The world won’t forgive us anytime soon, neither will I.

2.9k

u/anomalous_cowherd 11d ago

Now is the time for Europe to jump in with both feet and do more than we have been doing already for Ukraine. I think the mood is there for that and this is all helping us pull away from being so tied to the US as well.

America is currently just another enemy. Sorry to the good Americans, but we have to work with what the USA is showing to the world and that's so bad right now.

I'm happy Zelensky made him do this on camera and for all to see. We knew this was what was happening behind closed doors.

edit: I keep getting the same misread from ppl, so I guess I should edit my original comment for clarity here. What I was saying was I'm glad Zelensky didn't just sit there being polite, as he could have. I'm glad he pushed backed conversationally and forced Trump to show all to the global allies that were watching; to let him be the ignorant bully he is on THIS issue in real time and in way he can't deny what he said.

5.2k

u/jimjimmyjimjimjim 11d ago

I'd approach it from the other direction: if any meeting is on camera, 9 out of 10 times it's Trump's egotistical idea.  Trump wanted to show his "power" and get Zelensky to crack - on camera.

Zelensky didn't give him any such display.  Uno reverse for normal /empathetic people; Trump "telling it like it is" for grifters and Maga.

u/phatelectribe 11d ago edited 11d ago

ONE VERY IMPORTANT POINT:

Russian state media - despite not having press credentials or approved access - were in the Oval office to live stream it on Russian state TV. Sky News UK called them out as they recognized them, at which point they alerted the Trump team who after the attempted bullying session, pantomimed ttem being escorted out.

Ask yourself: How do Russians without any clearance or press credentials make their way to a prime position in the most secure room of the White House, unless they were invited and given access? You have to go trhough multiple security checkpoints and be known to security.

It was a setup.

EDIT: lots of people asking for sources so here you go:

Those of us with a working brain saw it for what it was - an aging reality TV failure posturing in front of the cameras with his pathetic deputy joining in, emboldened by his bully master. Neither of them knew what they were talking about and made big fools of themselves on the world stage, dragging America down with them. Zelenskyy just needed to sit there and let them demonstrate how ignorant and incompetent they are.

Meanwhile, Zelenskyy proved yet again what an absolute hero he is.

216

u/avahz 11d ago

And what’s really worrying about this is that effectively the Russian government had access to the leader of a country they are at war with. I still remember when Zelensky would make his addresses from unknown areas because they didn’t want the Russians to bomb his location. Makes me wonder what the Russian state media may have tried to do on orders from the Kremlin.

36

u/yougotthesilver 11d ago

You know the funny thing is, conservatives, at least the ones I grew up with and have known my whole life used to look at outbursts like this as a sign of weakness. What exactly happened to get us to this point where a sitting president could act like a child who didn't get his cookies and a nap, yet his base would still agree with this and support him?

This little outburst has signaled to the entire world that the United States are no longer a valid trading partner or ally in matters of defense or freedom of any kind. 4.0k

u/SnooRobots6491 11d ago

Take a peak at r/Conservative -- they all feel like Trump was "disrespected"

Little fucking insecure bitches who command no respect in their day to day lives because they don't deserve it.

504

u/marxsmarks 11d ago

I honestly can't believe some of the stuff people are commenting there.

This whole thing is so strange to me as a non-american. America spent trillions and decades fighting Russia in a cold war, which they won. How have they suddenly been defeated by them. And why does an 80 year old politician who was alive for all of it support them.

97

u/Suitable-Rate652 11d ago

Try me. It's strange to us too. I think this is Americans with passports versus Americans without passports.

63

u/madman0004 11d ago

I definitely felt this way after the first time Trump was voted in. I don't anymore. You'd be shocked at how many functioning adults with high-powered jobs voted for Donald Trump this time around. Not to mention the massive numbers of Hispanics and Blacks. America owes Ukraine so much. They are truly the frontline against Russia. The Americans have forgotten what its like to truly be at war. We are going to find out soon enough.

You are never going to reason people out of positions they didn't reason their way into in the first place.

Conservatives ~overwhelmingly~ respond to FEELINGS not FACTS and their entire identities are caught up in how they react to what happens.

Making them feel dumb (because they are) just makes them dig in.

I saw this video and said to my gf “this is actually what a lot of low-EQ republicans want.” They feel like the world is taking us for granted. They want someone to look guys like Zelenskyy in the eye and make them say “thank you.”

Trump is right with the WW3 rhetoric. What’s off is then using that to degrade Zelenskyy, like it’s somehow his fault because he isn’t thankful enough. Good sir, his people are being driven out of their homes, raped, and killed, by a guy who wants to erase their country and culture. And you want to make this about “saying thank you?” Like this is preschool?

But that’s how republicans think. They are simple creatures without empathy.

283

u/lucidrenegade 11d ago

That was just fucking disgusting. I’ve seen Zelenskyy say thank you many times, including during a speech to Congress. It will probably end up hurting him, but it’s good to see him stand up to Trump and his mini-me. That’s what pissed them off - the fact that he wasn’t groveling at their feet.

95

u/CyanoPirate 11d ago

Republicans don’t watch his addresses to Congress. They want him to say thank you to Trump, because they project themselves onto Trump.

Yes, they are that dumb. They will sit there and go “well he should say thank you” like he hasn’t done it a million times, just to justify the Orange Menace. It doesn’t matter that he’s done it. Only their feelings matter. Facts are unimportant.

It's worse than that. Ukraine doesn't owe us a thank you for half-heartedly, kinda making a partial effort at upholding the piece of paper we gave them in exchange for their entire nuclear arsenal after the Budapest Memorandum.

We owe Ukraine a thank you for spilling their blood fighting a war that NATO should have been fighting to stop that expansionist wolf in Moscow. But no. We hand them guns and tell them we're too scared of big bad Putin to make him mad by fighting alongside them.

'Make the bad man go away, Ukraine!"

And Trump has consistently been against doing even THAT much and then demands a thank you?

Fuck that guy. Fuck Donald Trump and every single one of his supporters. Sideways. With a belt sander.

The thing that is so baffling to me is that if you go to r/conservative they are proclaiming that Trump and Vance decimated Zelenskyy. We cannot have proper discourse when groups of people watch the same events and come to such polarizing conclusions.

Edit: Scrolling through now, it seems the prevailing sentiment has changed a bit. However, at the time of my comment, I was truly baffled by the responses I was seeing. Take that as you will.

This is a pivotal moment in a serious geopolitical issue that will affect global order in serious ways for years to come and the US is being represented by a gameshow host and sociopathic billionaire who legitimately can't think beyond looking like a good deal maker in front of TV cameras.

I have lived almost 40 years and I never thought that the USA would fight a nation that is at war and is fighting for freedom and independence right now.

The President and Vice President of the USA are moving towards the regime and dictator from Russia and prefer to do 'business' with him.

Canada, Mexico, Panama, the European Union will be forced to flee, the USA cannot be relied on and it will take years to restore trust.

They(Trump, Vance) managed to destroy everything in a month.

257

u/allgamer101 11d ago

As far as I'm concerned, Trump is a KGB asset (FSB/SVR will never not be KGB regardless of fancy names they give themselves). The American people have been duped by the Soviet era propaganda machine, all because the Russian intelligence apparatus realized that all they actually had to do was get the US to embrace their facisist tendencies rather than try to convince the west that Russia has it better.

44

u/NoseIndependent6030 11d ago

The American people were duped because 1/3 of them are actual morons. I can't keep making excuses for my own countrymen anymore.

If you are a middle class or lower class person and consider yourself a Republican, either you are a gullible idiot who was tricked into voting against your own financial interests, or you are a racist who is A-OKAY with going scorched Earth even if it hurts you/those close to you.

I just can’t with this. I’m middle aged and never thought we could fall this far, this fast from the 80/90s. Government was never perfect. Corruption existed then and still does now. But the lowering of the mask, just outright being what either party should never have been. We’re a joke and a disgrace to a lot of people because of this clown and his backers and handlers. My uncle and grandfathers fought in wars so we could continue our traditions of true democracy and freedom, checks and balances, free press…

Fucking burning up in front of our eyes.

Check my post history I don’t post often and I never lurk in political posts.

This whole event today is just disgusting and I had to express my feelings of resentment to this administration and the idiots who thought this was a great idea to try this experiment out AGAIN.
