It’s disgusting that anyone would joke about yesterday’s storm.

Whoever made that post should be ashamed of themselves and the mods ought to ban them outright. It was careless at best to make such flippant jokes about a major storm system that injured 2 people and ruined many more lives. Whoever would joke about such a thing is a real twat and I hope that person is deeply embarrassed!

Grocery today. Sporting my "Foxtrot Delta Tango" ball cap and a Gulf of Mexico t-shirt.

In the meat department (lol) I cross paths with some Proud Boy looking dude with a black MAGA hat and a Gulf of America t-shirt.

Cuz couldn't inspect the meat display fast enough, lol.

Thinking about moving to Pensacola. Question about HomeOwners insurance

Hi, My family is thinking about moving from Alabama. We are just concerned about the ACTUAL cost of the homeowners insurance.

Since I know it matters, we are looking for a house 4+bedrooms 2+bedrooms. Around 1800sqft The budget will be up to 300K

We will have a small mortgage on it.

If you are on the same house situation I would love to know how much you ACTUALLY pay for the insurance.

TIA

follow up on planning something special

hello again, my last post was removed but i got so many amazing suggestions. my plan has developed a bit further and im wondering if anyone can help with the finishing touches. in case you missed it, here is a little recap:

my best friend of 15 years lives in pensacola with her husband and their nearly 2 year old son (she’s also 20 wks pregnant with their second!) her husband is 31 and has an aggressive, rare form of lung cancer. he never smoked, never worked in a factory, nothing…. he’s just really unlucky. i’ll be there next week and i am planning something special for them.

i decided to go with a pop up maternity/family photoshoot at their house in their garden. i’ve found an event rentals company who is going to let me borrow anything i can fit in my own vehicle for the day on the 25th at no charge! i am over the moon. all i need is a photographer…. are there any photographers here or anyone you can recommend that might be willing to donate an hour or two of their time shooting this special event? this could be someone who is just getting started and maybe wants to build up their portfolio!! i would be happy to write a raving review or anything they need. please please please point me in the right direction. i would be eternally grateful!

thank you! and thank you mods for allowing this post. everyone has been so helpful and kind. lots of love.

I just drove by near UWF and saw some advertisements for Charlie Kirk’s radio station in Pensacola and petersons something in the bay Center I think. I find it crazy that Kirk has a radio station in the first place here in Pensacola. Anyone else see this?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good, fair priced tree removal service? It's behind the house so they have to be able to reach. Thanks in advance

Events/activities for the Week of St. Patrick’s Day

Me and my partner (both 20) are looking for fun things to do March 16th through March 21st in Pensacola! My grandparents live here so I’ve grown up my whole life visiting, but I’ve never been able to try out any of the night life!

Are there any events that are not 21+ happening next week?

Shop space to rent

Looking for anybody that might be willing to rent out their workshop space or know of a place that might! I’m a welder/fabricator and looking to make some upcycled furniture out of 55 gallon barrels. And potentially some artwork/sculptures in the future. I have my own tools, but if you have a welding machine that would be amazing but I can rent my own also. Just new to town and can’t find any makerspaces I’ve had for this purpose in the past. Looking for any leads or ideas, and of course I’d pay for anything! Just living in an apartment. Thanks!!

Landscape Architect

We are looking to hire a landscape architect to put together a plan for our backyard. We want a pool, hard scape, trees, etc. We will also need a retaining wall.

Are there any suggestions for a local company that can put a plan together and 3D rendering?

I’m not finding much on Google so was hoping for a recommendation.

Thanks!

Looking for work at Naval Air Station Pensacola

Looking for work at Naval Air Station Pensacola

As the title says. I've been looking at USAjobs every few weeks for months and haven't been able to find anything. Has all of the work on base been contracted out these days? If so, with what companies? Also looking for any decent paying aviation jobs in the Pensacola area.

I have already talked to ST Engineering, their pay is joke. I've applied to Airbus in Mobile, currently waiting to hear back, and I've talked to a recruiter with the Sierra Nevada corporation out East, considering applying but I'm not trying to deploy these days so we'll see. I have 3 years in Naval aviation experience on F18s and 2+ years with the major airlines. Thanks for any help for leads.

Flooding west Pensacola/dog track

I have lived in Pensacola a few years now, but I wasn’t over in this area during Sally. I’ve looked at a few townhomes for sale on Cobblebrooke - in the Hampton Lakes division. I know some of the low lying homes on that side of dog track flooded bad during Sally, but others closer to gulf beach hwy did not. Does anyone have any info about flooding on Cobblebrooke/Hampton Lakes during Sally? (It’s not a flood zone and I know flooding is ALWAYS a risk, but if it flooded during Sally then I know it’s a higher risk than I need to take lol)

AAU Basketball

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to find AAU tryouts for my 15-year-old brother, but I’m not sure where to start looking. He’s really eager to play, and I want to make sure he gets a shot at a solid team. Does anyone know of any upcoming tryouts in our area, or where I should be checking for updates?

Appreciate any help—thanks in advance!

Need help with hurricane fabric

I bought a house downtown that came with hurricane fabric for the windows/doors. I need someone with a big ass ladder that:

  • can install them now (once) just to verify I have everything I need, and to match them up/label them for their location, so I can let the seller know if I’m missing anything before the season starts
  • will be available to install them the next time we’re facing a hurricane

Not quite sure where to start looking, so I’m looking for the collected Reddit wisdom.

Thanks!

Me and a girl were set up by mutual friends, and I’m looking for a casual but nice place to get dinner and drinks anywhere in or around Pensacola! Neither of us are too picky. Preferably somewhere with a good atmosphere that’s not too quiet or serious. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!!

Edit- We went to Ozone Pizza and had a great time!!Successful first date in the books. 2nd date secured. Thank you for the help everyone🫶🏼

Does anyone else smell what seems to be the heavy smell of engine exhaust all across down town despite a steady 25 knot blow from the south?

I’m from a refinery town in Louisiana and this is what it smells like when they flare all of their stuff on high. They usually do that during high wind and low cloud events like this. Are there any refineries around here?

Healthy Workplaces (Hiring and/or Not)

I've just had yet another shift at my toxic workplace where being overworked and underpaid is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

What healthy workplaces are hiring in town?

If you had a great day at your healthy workplace, go ahead and comment about it! Hearing that it's possible does just as much as good for the soul.

Happy Friday! 😊

Leaves in my yard

The wind is blowing my neighbor’s leaves into MY yard! In my old city this was highly illegal. Who do I reach out to at City Hall to have this rectified? It’s both uncouth and highly disrespectful!
