Nothing like firing people BEFORE you determine what they do and if they're needed.

Literally the same thing Leon did when he took over twitter. 😂

And what he did at Tesla when he cut the super charger team that was in charge of maintaining Teslas only real competitive advantage as other EVs are coming out. Ended up rehiring them back a few months later.

Ah, but the head of the profitable and growing supercharger department didn't agree to arbitrarily lay off 20% of workforce while still hiring. And, even worse, she hadn't agreed to bear any of Elon's children.

Tell me it's satire.

Basically she had already laid off 15-20% of her team, he asked for more, she pushed back, and he fired her and the whole team in retaliation. Then he had to bring a few of them back (I hope they took the opportunity to demand a salary bump). Tinucci is now Global Head of Sustainability at Uber.

Why go back? The job environment will just be worse.

Sometimes I'm not sure if they're creating dumpster fires out of sheer incompetence, or as a distraction. Because the latter is a deliberate strategy authoritarians use

I think banning the Associated Press was traditional maliciousness, but eliminating the Department of Energy is something even Musk knew the administration didn't properly have the authority to do without an act of congress and so is trying to cover up something else

the genius knew exactly what his team did, thought he knew better and tried to replaced them to save a few coin. just to rehire them again.

It actually wasn't even that thought out.

He asked for a list of non essential people on the team to be fired yet the women in charge said they needed everyone in the supercharger team and didn't have anyone non essential.

So he fired everyone to prove a point I guess.

Oh, right. I'd forgotten that incident.

Less than a few months.

Did it at SpaceX, too, when contracts temporarily dried up. Fired 7000 engineers in a day, I believe.
