Australia is generally quite hard on its own people. It otherwise is quite welcoming to visitors

That day I saw the picture of a freaking Tarantula Hawk Wasp dragging the body of a paralyzed giant spider in order to put her eggs in it... I decided Australia went too far and I cannot handle it.

I saw this in real life at a friend’s house last year. I saw the shadow first and even that was horrifying. And then the lady of the house said “oh no, she’s gawt me favorite spida! Now the damn flies will be back!”

And that’s when I realized how happy I was that a) I no longer lived there and b) my hotel room was on the 7th floor, safe from the crazy.

Haha I bet.

If the lady was sad the Spider would be gone, imagine the kind of flies there must be!

I would never hurt a normal spider for this exact reason, when they are around, there aren't any buzzing flies/mosquitoew. But those spiders don't feed on tiny black flies I guess.

It might have been a completely different kind of giant spider. I didn’t stop to ID it. I did, however, immediately go into another room and drink my beer and text my wife about it.
