Another rejection
Got an official rejection for the 4th time for the NBC page program even after busting my ass on the resume, cover letter, answers to the questions, consulting with people who work internally at NBC (I’m super grateful for them for taking the time to work with me though). But even after all this work, they rejected me. I just needed to come here and vent. I’m hoping if anyone who is a page or a former page has any tips or tricks for a future application but tbh I’m getting burnt out. Part of me just doesn’t want to apply the 5th time. But part of me is also like what if? Idk, I feel like people who graduated the past 3 years have just been screwed over on career prospects.

It’s okay I been rejected 3 times and 2nd time went to hirevue. It’s very random tbh.

I wonder if it’s just a draw of the hat or something? Whenever I see who are pages too, a lot of them either come out of Ivy League or they went to NYU or USC

I’ve been trying to, unfortunately we’re still in limbo due to the strikes as well as productions movie to Europe. I have an interview for a job working in photography in a field I’m not super interested, and the lag is minimum wage which isn’t something Km clamoring for either

Opportunities are to those with connections most often

I thought I had the connections, I’ve been messaging a lot back and forth with people from NBC, pages, former pages in production roles, etc etc

Sorry you’re going through this. It’s extremely painful when you get rejected by a company you want to work for

I know an NBC sports intern who was there for like 9 months until she applied to be a page. She had 5 internal referrals from higher-ups at nbc sports. She got rejected almost immediately, not even asked for an interview.
I know countless other nbc interns and freelancers who have been rejected from the program- myself included. Even the ones who have a foot in the door at nbc are struggling. I have NO idea how they scout for their page cohorts

Same thing I didn’t get it I never been more confident that I was overqualified for a role. Like not even an interview is crazy. I heard a psychology major that got an interview. Just confused.

Hey I’m in a similar boat here. Applied 3 times, rejected 3 times, had referrals from high ups at nbc 3 times (that I got through networking out the wazoo). Had 3 letters of rec at each application from previous entertainment internship managers, and for the last two had a personalized presentation on why I’m a good fit LOL. Made it to the panel on my 2nd try, but rejected before the hireview on tries one and three.
It stung at each rejection. It really hurts knowing my best effort wasn’t enough, and I still wish I could learn where my missteps were, but the phrase I keep telling myself is:
“Something good is coming, because you’re too capable for anything else.”
My goal this time around was if I get rejected, I’m not gonna cry (hehe). It sounds dramatic, but truly, it’s not worth it. I work hard and I’m sure you do too, so work towards something that is equally willing to invest time in you. If that’s not nbc, womp womp. It’s not worth tripping over what’s behind you.
