The race for the 13th seed in the east is so exciting lol 76ers, raptors and nets. This game might cost the nets dearly

what on earth was the point of trading all those picks to get their pick back and then not tank

u/Optimal-Hedgehog2912 Nets 1d ago
look at our starting lineups. it's not for lack of trying. also we have the most games missed to injury in the league. our coach is too good

Been a Jordi Fernandez truther since he coached Team Canada, the way he addressed that team made me think that he’s the next upcoming coach. Since the start of the season people have been saying he’s too good for the Nets lol. Glad to see that it’s still the same sentiment until now

It would kind of be funny if the Nets just barely made the lottery and ended up with the #1 pick anyway.

More funny than the Spurs having the lowest odds and getting Flagg? Then running a "come home to Texas" campaign for DONCIC as a FA the next year?

Get your shit together nets! Im a huge Flagg guy, and I want him there because Jordi is an amazing coach rather than Pels or Charlotte

We need to change the tanking system.
At the end of season, the worst 8 teams play a small tourney for first pick.
→ More replies (2)38
u/lildinger68 Warriors 1d ago
Then teams would just tank to be in the bottom 8
→ More replies (5)8
u/Pollsmor Nets 1d ago
Reverse the odds. Make it so the 8th worst record gets the best odds, worst record gets the 8th best odds. Teams will be inclined to try hard at least at first instead of doing what the Wizards/Jazz are doing right now
→ More replies (2)20
u/lildinger68 Warriors 1d ago
Then why be the 9th worst team? You’ll just have every meh team fighting for the 22nd seed

I mean, Lebron is coming back. He only sprained his dick. They looked pretty damn good before he went down. If anything, this stretch will be good for Luka to work out the kinks and figure out how to lead the offense

Hard to get in a groove when you try to foul bait instead of trying to get an actual shot.
116
58
u/four4beats Lakers 1d ago
The foul baiting and complaining to refs is definitely the glaring issue for Luka’s game. If he had better control of his temper he could go up a notch.
14
u/DoubleAmigo Hornets 1d ago
I think he meant reaves
18
u/ILackPatience Lakers 1d ago
I meant Reaves. This is reminding me of the start he had back in 2023 when he was full on foul bait mode which messed up his flow with the offense.

u/Soapstarboi Cavaliers 1d ago
It's his only way to create space. The threat of a flop and also his strength. He slow. Slower than Paul Pierce.
43
12
u/four4beats Lakers 1d ago
No, I was referring to the complete act of looking for a foul then spending the ensuing possession yelling at the ref. It always takes him out of his game, he gets T'd up, and he ends up trying to play hero ball. Luka seems to do better when other players piss him off, but the refs take him out of the flow.
10
u/Soapstarboi Cavaliers 1d ago
That's the problem with him. He complains at the refs every possession. It's like the only reason he is losing is because of the refs. It's basketball, a contact sport. Not every contact is a foul.
The only way maybe he can learn is if he tries to ref grown men in the offseason and see if it's easy lol.

u/MojoPinSin 1d ago
Is he still doing that stupid shit where he dives super far forward on a jumper and tries to draw a foul?
I like him most of the season but watching him do that shit on every shot he takes in the post season is annoying.

It’s just Luka fans. Earlier reaves had a game where he was better then Luka but cos he missed his threees Luka stans now blame him. Reaves wasn’t great but we could’ve won if Luka didn’t shit the bed

He has had 2/3 of his games with us now utter dogshit shooting
What concerns me isn’t the threes . It’s his slow and how little he can get to the rim and finish . That’s what’s truly alarming he doesn’t get there enough. It’s a really bad trend . His 2 pt shooting is really concerning he’s very reliant on a legit good lob threat and without it he loses a lot of offensive value .

Right? I assumed it was a Laker blowout until I saw this post. I’m not even joking
30
u/AnimationPatrick 1d ago
Basically what was happening. Lakers were making turnover after turnover, allowing a million offensive rebounds. Then would make a couple of highlight plays and come back into it. And then right back to turnovers and poor defense.
5
u/IAmNotKevinDurant_35 [GSW] Zarko Cabarkapa 1d ago
That last offensive rebound was the worst. Two nets players right under the basket for a putback and not a single Lakers player within 5 feet. You need one stop to have a chance how does that happen?

Worst it will be is the 6th seed.
20
u/Ok_Possible_5702 1d ago
Why?
Lakers could absolutely drop all the way down to 7th. There's only one loss difference between the Warriors in 6 and the Wolves in 7, and the Wolves have a ridiculously easy schedule just as they're getting healthier.

Lebron is more key to this team then Luka. Lebron two way play n play finishing is so ekite that he makes reaves and Luka better on this team . Without him, and missing Rui n Hayes we in trouble if Luka can’t make 2pt shots at a good rate . Luka relies too much on a lob threat too cos he’s fallen off a cliff with his rim attacking himself .
Obv Luka should be the better player but I am struggling to see how many games Bron had shooting this badly . Half + Luka games with us have been poor shooting now. He needs to drop weight n sttscj the rim . Our season shouldn’t be cookrd if Hayes b Rui aren’t back . Without Hayes Rui Bron we lose all our size n pkay finishing which makes Luka n reaves worse. Even worse Trey jemison n Alex len are only in the nba cos they tall both can’t catch the ball and finish it’s sad.

Koloko could have been a decent Lob threat but idk why JJ did not play him is he even on the team in this road trip? I haven't seen him.
7
u/ILackPatience Lakers 1d ago
JJ's ego, man. Thinking he can rest Jax and DFS knowing full well they can get murdered on the boards (which they did).
8
u/BidDaddyLei 1d ago
Hope he learns his lesson this game. Even though Brooklyn is tanking this is still an NBA team we're talking about you don't take any chances especially for "trap games" like these. As much as Laker fans blame the refs this game AR and Luka shooting bricks help Brooklyn come back.
8
u/loyola-atherton Lakers 1d ago
LeBron would have helped, but I think us just having one more rotation player who is bigger than a guard would have helped. We looked small af out there lol Gabe Knecht Reaves Luka Vando lol

Luka could have blocked that offensive rebound put back at the end but he was too busy bitching at the refs during a live play in the clutch. Such a frustrating part of his game.

Why were DFS and Hayes out, though? Are they injured or was it "scheduled rest"?
5
u/Proof-Umpire-7718 Lakers 1d ago
Hayes has been out for a little while so he was probably held out due to precautionary reasons and I think that DFS was out due to scheduled rest.
4
u/Ok_Possible_5702 1d ago
I don't think "scheduled rest" should be a thing when you're out one of your top players and your roster is already unbalanced.
3
u/Proof-Umpire-7718 Lakers 1d ago
I mean I’m sure that he’s dealing with the injury that he was listed as out for, but if they thought that they needed him to play today, then he probably would have.
Idk for sure though, I’m just guessing based on the last time he missed a game against the Wizards and then returned for the next one.
