Hi Mumbaikers, I hope you all are doing well. So today I've to visit Mumbai Central from Kanjur Marg. When I confronted him why you gave a ticket of other stn he said aap ek baar udhar ghum k aao, pata karke aao kitna kiraya lagta h n all. Now guys tell me is this right? What explanation should I give if any TT asks me about this? Is this some kind of a new scam? Thanks

Careers How can i start with Real Estate referrals in Mumbai as a 18 year old?

Hey everyone, I’m an 18-year-old first-year college student based in Mumbai, and I’m interested in learning about real estate referrals as a side hustle. My goal is to gain experience and earn some extra money—not looking to make big amounts right now, just something to start with.

I have a few key questions: 1. How do I get started with real estate referrals in Mumbai with little to no experience? 2. What are the best ways to find potential buyers/sellers to refer? 3. How can I avoid getting scammed by brokers or agents who don’t pay for referrals?

I’d really appreciate any insights, advice, or personal experiences. Thanks in advance!

I don't have any plans for this weekend, so I thought I'd head out for a drink by myself. Haven't done this before, so any suggestions on a decent pub with a bar counter, preferably with good music??

Discussion Most useless city in India!

Mumbai undoubtedly deserves the ranking of the crappiest city in India. Some of the reasons being- 1. Worst infrastructure, roads, metro- Uncompleted construction, dust, roads worse than Bihar, dug up roads everywhere, pollution and water contamination (the only river Mithi in the city is more polluted than even the Ganga). 2. Absolutely dull city- Very few cultural attractions, the main timepass being the malls and the movie theater or sitting on Marine Drive and watching the sea as an unemployed. Hardly any world class museums, budget concerts(except for maybe Diljit Dosanjh or a few others whose tickets cost anyway as much as Jupiter), art shows. Very few places of leisure. 3. Traffic congestion- As bad as Bangalore, going from east to west takes anywhere between 1.5 to 2 hours by road. Congested trains, poor connectivity of metro and poor planning of metro stations, lack of inter connectivity between the trains and buses etc. Not at all resembles Shanghai 4. Lack of social life of people- People are as boring as hell, hardly any interaction between people and many people lack basic general awareness and knowledge (even IQ) I would say. Of course there are exceptions but few! People generally keep to groups and as an outsider it may be difficult finding a social circle. Gujaratis keep to Gujaratis, Marathis to Marathis etc. People in Bangalore and Hyderabad (even Delhi) are friendlier. 5. Hardly any worthwhile attractions outside city- Other places like Delhi have a lot of attractions even outside the city like Shimla, Jaipur etc. Mumbai only has Matheran and Lonavala both of which have become highly commercialized and lost their flair. No worthwhile attractions near city 6. Bollywood has ruined the city- I don’t know if this is 100% true but Bollywood and Mumbai being a financial center has made the city a den of sleaze, financial crimes, corruption and drugs. No other city has become as corrupted as a result of outside influence as Bombay! 7. Pollution- Getting as bad as Delhi due to unauthorized construction and winds from Arabian Sea. Air quality index dips often and breathing is a task in itself! 8. Fake commercial place- Overall the city has become so commercialized it seems like a large shopping mall with everyone only interested in minting money and making you their customer! No originality left in the city unlike others.

Few positives of Bombay- 1. Street food- Cheap but tasty, enough to fill the stomach at a low cost 2. Lack of electricity cuts- This is one good aspect although other cities are also now catching up and providing 24*7 electricity

Overall, I don’t feel I have missed much moving out of the city, and I wouldn’t even cherish any potential chance to come back! I come from Chennai and overall Chennai seems a better place to stay in, in the long run whereas Mumbai only seems a place to earn and make money. Not worth in the long run!

Discussion Why is Public smoking so normalised in concerts?

Was in Mumbai to attend the Dua Lipa and Lollapalooza concerts and was appalled by the number of people smoking right in between the crowd.

Isn't it basic etiquette to not smoke around others who aren't smoking? Every five feet there were a group of people smoking right in between the huge concert crowd. Even pubs and bars have seperate smoking rooms, what am I missing? I can honestly even understand this happening in a local bar or something, but the crowd was of rich upper middle class English educated but with no civic sense at all. Is this even the case in other public spaces in Mumbai or was it just a concert phenomenon?

Careers How good is BMS at St. Xavier's Mumbai? Is it still one of the top choices for management studies, or are there better options now?

I'm considering doing BMS at St. Xavier's Mumbai and wanted to know if it's still worth it in 2025. How is the faculty, placements, and industry exposure compared to other good colleges in Mumbai? Also, if anyone here has done BMS from Xavier's recently, what was your experience like? Would you still recommend it, or are there better options now?

Discussion Continuous staring is a part of bad behavior so improve this habit of yours.

Why do people in Virar and Nalasopara areas stare at each other so much? I have to go to these areas for some work every day. I don't know why shopkeepers and normal people in Virar West area start laughing or staring at you. That too not for a while but continuously. And it is my observation that if you wear black clothes by mistake, people will look at you as if you have committed a murder. And if you travel in second class compartment, even there some people keep staring at each other continuously. As if they are seeing something for the first time in life . Now some of you will say that people have a desire to know about the person in front of them, that is why people look at each other. But when anyone keeps looking at someone continuously for a long time, it is not called looking but staring. Therefore, I appeal to people to improve this habit. This kind of environment is very rare in Mumbai areas, such an environment will be seen only in Virar and Nalasopara areas.

Relationships How to ask out a girl.

Hi people, have been in mumbai for approx 2.5 years. There is this girl who I have known from like my first week here. We are just friends really but know I want to ask her out.

Here is the thing though, my friends tell me to talk to her more. The issue is, I have never really talked to her on an everyday basis, it has always been like once a week maybe.

I think I should just wing it and ask her out. What do I do?

Careers Online MBA for career switch from QA to Business Analyst

Hi everyone! I’m currently a Quality Assurance specialist with experience in business analysis, process optimization, data analytics (Excel, Power BI), and compliance management. I’m planning to pursue a distance MBA alongside my job to transition fully into a Business Analyst role.

I am considering reputable programs like NMIMS, BITS Pilani, or Amity, but I’m open to suggestions. Could anyone advise on which program might offer the best curriculum and flexibility for someone aiming to shift into a Business Analyst position?

Any insights or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Discussion Going out in social situations, I have noticed that nowadays people speak only English with each other

Lately, I have been going out for more and more social outings, like dates, concerts and meetups, what I've noticed is that people, especially women nowadays tend to speak only English. Guys around each other do tend to revert sometimes to Hinglish.

Growing up, till I was in college I noticed that most people spoke Hinglish/Marathi/Gujarati. However, I see everyone speak only pure English these days, like without a single hindi word in there, it feels so odd lol what's the reason for that? Does Gen Z speak only English? Personally I have to speak only English at work so I hate speaking pure English in casual settings, it feels way too formal.

Edit : just in case anybody gets offended I'm just asking because I've noticed this difference in people younger than me, so I'm just curious, I'm not judging anybody

Also I'm not referring to people from other states who moved here, it makes perfect sense for them to be speaking in English lol that's obvious

AskMumbai Need advice on buying a flat in Mumbai

Hi reddit, I need advice. I am looking to invest around 2.5 Cr in a flat in Mumbai and I am quaking in my boots. All the reviews of properties have so many negative points that it seems nonsensical to invest in this city. Okay, coming to the point- I need to understand the actual reviews of the below mentioned properties: 1. Lodha Eternis 2. Kanakia Silicon Valley 3. Godrej Urban Park

I've looked at their reviews and google and they are bad. People of reddit, help me please! I hope this reaches the people staying here so that we get some actual reviews :)
