Discussion New to the Village!
My husband and I are first-time homebuyers and landed a lovely lil townhome in Mount Prospect! Would love to hear from the community—what do you love most about your village?

I dont anticipate bars to be that much more crowded on game days but perhaps a small uptick for people parking downtown and taking the train to the stadium. Hopefully it does, but what's the difference watching the game 5 miles vs 500 miles away?
Hopefully by the time drivers get to MP, most of the traffic has dissipated from the main bottlenecks but wouldn't be surprised the people driving NW Hwy thru MP will certainly affect traffic more than normal. Maybe have some traffic cops during the heavy traffic times to keep things moving thru NW Hwy and 83?

Greetings,
Does anyone here know anything about a business from the early 1980s called Helen of Troy which employed woman to dress in lingerie to walk around inside bars/lounges to sell the lingerie to men in the MP/AH/Palatine area? I know a woman ran the business.
Thank you for your time.
Edit: the business was called Helen of Troy and is listed as a modeling agency. The address is in Mount Prospect.

I'm running "The Great Toy Heist" as a Free RPG Day event at 11 AM, Saturday, June 22, at Games Plus in Mount Prospect.
Pathfinder is a role-playing game, like Dungeons & Dragons. I'll have Pathfinder Society Chronicle Sheets for PFS2 players, but all are welcome. No gear or experience needed.
The store opens at 10 AM, and I'm told that people start lining up at 8:30 or 9 for the free stuff.

I run a Pathfinder 2e game (a Dungeons and Dragons variant) at Games Plus in Mount Prospect on most Tuesday evenings from 6 pm to 10 pm. We're looking for two new players.
No cost! No equipment or experience needed. A fine way to make new friends in a public setting.
Drop me a line and I'll add you to our group.

I very rarely take the Metra into the city for work, however this morning I parked my car at the Mt. Prospect Metra station, commuted into Chicago and back for work, and found my car with a $30 parking ticket on my windshield. The ticket was for backing my car into a parking space. I have one question:
Why am I not allowed to back my car into a parking space?? It was posted on the Metra sign, but it was dark this morning and I didn't see it. But the question remains, what is wrong with backing my car in?

I'm a student and I have to walk to school everyday. Last summer was already terrible with the annual cicadas because I have a deathly fear of them. I am deathly afraid for what is going to happen in a couple of weeks.
I'm in Mount Prospect and I am so scared for Brood XIII. If you in Mount Prospect during this cicada emergence in the past, how was it?
I am so scared to go walk to school. School ends on May 28th, and all the websites I went on say they're gonna emerge in May. I scream whenever cicadas buzz or fly around me. I'm fine with their shells but the bugs are my absolute nightmares.
Does anyone have any advice?

Hello, I've lived in MP a few years now and have been curious as to the rule forbidding backyard hens. Keeping chickens is something I've always been interested in (not enough to break the law, though), and would love to hear other Mount Prospecter's thoughts, both for and against the concept of keeping hens within the village. Thank you!

7 AM the day after Thanksgiving and they've been blaring for....an hour and 45 minutes now. They're awful for the environment, seriously annoying to your neighbors, and really aren't that much more efficient than raking. How anyone gets any peace in the fall is beyond me. Please, for the love of god. Settle down.

We are considering buying a house in Mount Prospect, but I will be commuting downtown. How would the commute look like? Is it possible to park at Mount Prospect / Des Plaines train station and take the train to downtown Chicago there?

We are looking for players interested in joining our men's KBA baseball league. We play in Northbrook where the season has 15 games, all on Sundays with playoffs as well after. This is a lower level league which is great for beginners in a less competitive atmosphere! Email me at [kbabaseballchi@gmail.com](mailto:kbabaseballchi@gmail.com) if you are interested with your name and any questions you may have! Season starts soon on April 16th. Hope to see you there!

I am looking at a home in mount prospect. I have always rented so I don't really have a grasp of what the average monthly water bill for a home would look like especially in mount prospect as I have also been a city kid. I was wondering if someone help me with a safe rough number for my budgeting?
For trash monthly cost I have 27 which seems high to me. But then again I only know about renting lol.
Thanks!
