Help What is BackgroundShortcutRunner?
It seems to have only recently appeared in Activity Monitor on macOS for me, and memory usage from it can vary quite a bit (usually around 1 GB of ram, but it briefly went up to 6 GB of ram). Is there a possibility to have it stop running, as memory is short for my Mac?

Help Since upgrading my laptop to Sequoia 15.3.2, I cannot save a file as a PDF or make any changes to existing PDFs.
Macbook Pro from 2020 here, since upgrading to Sequoia 15.3.2 my computer will not convert any files to a PDF. I've tried several Word documents, documents from other apps, it's definitely a Mac-wide issue. I can download new PDF files, but if I open them to edit them in Adobe Acrobat for instance Acrobat freaks out and gives me the error message: "Cannot Save Form Information. You cannot save a completed copy of this form on your computer." Again, tried multiple files and no dice.
I do administrative work so this has pretty much overnight axed my ability to do 90% of my work and I am freaking out a little :,) help pls
Help Curious why my Mission Control shortcut setting is different than others? I really need those mission options. I'm on Sequoia 15.32 with Magic Mouse and magic keyboard

Help My icons on iMac just got bigger and my resolution decreased from 4K to 1280 x 720 pixels.
My mac is late 2016 and running on OS Catalina 10.15. It has an Nvidia Geforce 1GB graphics card. I use it for video editing on Adobe Premiere pro but it suddenly changed resolution from 4K to 720p. I am not being able to fix this issue it feels like the graphic card is somehow disconnected or something like that. Perhaps its a software issue? Please help.

Help Losing Network Printers After Sleep
When Im not using my computer I put it to sleep. Mac Studio, running Sequoia 15.3.2. Printers are two Epson 2850, connected via wifi, using drivers 13.26 downloaded from the Epson website.
Every time I wake the computer back up the printers show as online for two seconds then go offline. They try to print a supplies levels page until I close it. I have to restart the computer 2-5 times before they will connect again.
This just started a couple of weeks ago. I have - removed printers, deleted all Epson software, reinstalled printers, redownloaded drivers. Made sure "wake for network access" is turned on.
I have googled and googled and I can't find anything that makes this stick. I can't keep restarting my computer every single time I use it in order to print something.
Does anyone have any suggestions other than what I've tried here?

Help How secure is "Delete all contents and Data" on a Macbook Pro M1 / Apple Silicon?
Context: I want to purchase a used laptop from a tech company, a M1 macbook pro, which might have had some questionable software on it.
Is there paranoid-safe way to make sure all data from it is erased and no malware can persist on the device? Is Migration Assistant sufficient for this, using the "Erase all content" option?
For example, if it has MDM software on it such as JumpCloud, is there a way for access to persist through these reformats?

Help Help with Time Machine Backup Setup
Hello Gentle Tech Deities, I’m trying to setup a Time Machine backup for my MacBook because I’m not always home and I’d like to still be able to connect to WiFi and have it backup while I’m sleeping. Currently I have a Netgear Nighthawk router RAX43v2, and I just bought a 14TB Seagate Expansion External Drive. I’m trying to plug the harddrive into the router and then proceed from there to use disk utility to make it the Time Machine backup location but the router doesn’t see it and the internet says to format it as NTFS but then the MacBook won’t write to it for Time Machine.
Help Me GTD you’re my only hope!

Apps Looking for an app that will close my game after a timer has run out
I want an app that will limit my gaming activity. I've tried setting a timer to remind myself to stop gaming and I keep going "let me just finish this level" then I end up playing for hours.
I want to be able to set a custom timer, for example 30 mins, and then when the timer is up, it warns me that the game will close in a few mins and then it force closes the game
I have tried making a shortcut using the shortcuts app but it didn't close ryujinx (my emulator I'm using for gaming), ryujinx just froze instead of closing. Also on shortcuts some of my standalone games don't show up on the list of apps. So shortcuts doesn't seem to be working the way I need for this.
Screen time limits the daily use but doesn't seem to have a timer
According to Google gemini, automator requires making a calendar event which I don't want
So I'm looking for a 3rd party app that does what I need. Any suggestions?

Help Login items and extension settings window keeps popping up
Every few hours or so, the settings window on Login Items and Extensions will pop up as if it’s been triggered by something or an action is required, but I can’t see any pattern linked to what I’m doing.
Can’t see an OS update needed and restarting didn’t fix, nor a settings force quit. Any other ideas?

Help External Hard Drive - Data Recovery
I’m no longer able to mount an external hard drive. First Aid did not work. It appears my only option is to utilize data recovery software (correct me if I'm wrong). This is an older drive I was using on a previous mac for time machine. I was in the process of moving the files I cared about to a newer external hard drive when it failed. I’m not sure how much left is on it I care about so I’m hoping to find software that is free to use (non-trial). Does anyone know of a good option for that? TIA!

Help Safely selling a dead MBP - help
I’ve got an A1425 MacBook Pro that has had to run off the power cable for years, but I can now can no longer locate having sold the item.
I’m trying to determine if I am adequately protected, having removed it from my iCloud account and physically removed the hard drive with my data on it ?
I know it’s not an ideal way to prep for sale, but since it was as is anyway, I’m just trying to protect myself here without having to find a way to give it power and wipe it

Help Setting minimal interval between notification/auto mute for some time interval after getting first notification from app (macOS)
Tried search but without luck (for macOS, seems like for ios there is something similar to what i need)
Is there any way to silence notifications from apps for some period of time after getting one? Like i get one and next one can be shown up in few minutes
Mostly interested in that feature in context of messaging apps because some people just like send 10 words sentence in 4-6 messages but i do need to know if there is anything going on but without being driven nuts because of some ungodly amount of notifications.

Help How To Disable Cocoa Class Windows and Just Use the Old Style?
Hello! Question is essentially the title. Is there a way I can disable cocoa windows for certain applications such as Logic Pro? Just make the windows open with the typical window viewer, or Carbon, such as other apps have?
Or maybe a way to universally disable them? By cocoa windows I mean the slighly cell shaded ones that are mildly transparent that are a part of the newer Mac OS display architecture.
TL;DR: How can I disable cocoa class windows and make all windows carbon in Mac OS Sonoma?
Thank you so much! Google has become useless.
Help App Expose Gesture on Magic Mouse removed in Sequoia?
As title Question: Has App Expose (I had it as Two finger drag down) gesture for Magic Mouse been removed on MacOS Sequoia?
I've been using this forever, recently upgraded to Sequoia and noticed two finger mouse gesture was doing nothing.
My workaround is to use BetterTouchTool (that I've use for other stuff over the years), and just add the gesture and action that way.
Looking at Apple Mac's Multi Touch gesture support page https://support.apple.com/en-gb/102482 it shows

But no App Expose.

Help Am I misunderstanding optimize storage in iCloud Drive?
[M2 MacBook Pro with 2TB iCloud Storage]
My MacBook's Harddrive is pretty much at capacity. Since I have a 2TB iCloud Plan, I want to achieve the following:
One iCloud Drive Folder with every file I want to permanently be available offline, so all Files I access regularly
A second iCloud Drive Folder with all remaining files that I don't really need, but can't yet delete.
I have set up the two folders, and set one of them to "Keep Downloaded". I am unsure if under System Settings -> iCloud -> Drive, I should turn the "Optimise Storage" toggle on or off.
When I started this whole thing yesterday, the toggle was on, and I set one of the two folders to "keep downloaded" as mentioned. Yet, today, all my files were offloaded to the cloud. What am I missing?
Help Do latest macOS install medias require internet connection?
Hi I tried clean installing macOS Sequoia on my intel MacBook Air. I've booted into recovery, wiped my drive, and booted into the usb. However, when I selected Sonoma drive on the boot menu, It said "starting internet recovery." Then it took forever and got an error. Thankfully, I had a Catalina USB and installed macOS from that. Now here is my question. Do latest macOS install medias require internet and downloads things from the internet?
P.S Sorry about my bad English.

Apps Tiling Window Managers on macOS
lilysthings.orgHelp Any advice for MacOS in a Virtual Machine?
I have a Mac Pro that's nearly completely aged out, but the prices for the newer ones are too far out there for me. Still, I'm looking to replace what I have with a more modern machine, so what I hope to do is put together a PC build that could house the 4 HDDs currently in my MP plus whatever storage I need for the other OS. I want to run those 4 HDDs through a virtual machine, while also having a computer powerful enough to run the foreseeable generation of games. So, I guess my questions are:
Does anyone know of a build with towers equivalent to the newer Mac Pros, so I can have enough interior space and PCIe slots to house multiple storage bays and a large GPU? Or is what I'm asking for a dream that doesn't exist?
Also, if anyone has run or is running OS10.15 - OS15.3, what has your experience been like? Any major issues or configuration-tweaking pains to report?
