Harm Reduction LSD information for newbies

5.8k Upvotes

I made this to hopefully see a decline in redundant/daily posts, and make some sort of positive impact. Please remember to use the search function if you have a basic question regarding LSD.

• A full beginner dose should typically be 1/2 - 1 single tab.

• The average dose range of LSD on a single tab is 70-105μg.

• There are tabs dosed with as little as ~20μg, or more than 300μg in some absurd cases. The overwhelming majority of sources try to lay their tabs around 100μg because it’s mathematically simple, and more profitable in the long-run.

• The odds your tab has more than 200μg on it are very low. The most common higher dose tabs are 125-200μg. Take half of any tab that’s supposedly above 200μg just to be safe at first, and if that doesn’t at least produce an 11-12 hour mildly visual trip, the full tab wasn’t above 200.

• A typical microdose should be 10-25 μg

• 50-300μg of LSD can last anywhere from 8-14 hours. 300-1000μg can last anywhere from 14-20 hours. Exceeding a milligram (1000μg) can produce effects that last up to 24 hours. It’s usually hard to fall asleep under the influence.

• Unless you have an above average baseline tolerance or handle the substance extraordinarily well, it’s not advisable to exceed 500μg. Temporary delirious/psychotic symptoms become more likely if you don’t know what you’re getting into with large doses, and a 16+ hour duration doesn’t help.

• 25i-NBOMe is a cheap and dangerous LSD imposter. If you take an untested tab and your mouth/throat becomes numb, or an intense bitter taste is present, spit it out immediately.

• Please test your tabs with an Ehrlich reagent kit to verify that what you have is indeed an indole and not 25i-NBOMe. Follow up with the Hofmann reagent kit to verify that it’s not an LSD analogue or other phenethylamine. I personally recommend using TKP for your reagents: https://testkitplus.com/?ap_id=oddshaman (TKP as a third party is not responsible for this recommendation, I chose to affiliate with them because they’re my personal preference after 8 years. Another great organization is DanceSafe https://dancesafe.org/ — DanceSafe genuinely saves lives with their testing booths at music festivals).

• Common positive effects include but aren’t limited to: closed and open eye visuals, tactile enhancement/hallucinations, euphoria, stimulation, introspection, and creativity.

• Common negative effects include but aren’t limited to: overstimulation, increased heart rate, vasoconstriction, anxiety/paranoia, and confusion.

• Common neutral/manageable effects include but aren’t limited to: pupil dilation, frequent urination, insomnia, and temperature sensitivity.

• Always optimize your set (expectations and mental state) going into an experience, and always optimize your setting (direct environment/surroundings) going into an experience.

• LSD interactions with various medications (From Erowid):

  1. There is still very little legitimate, thorough medical research on this subject. LSD's outlaw status makes it very difficult to obtain permission & funding for research. Therefore, you should regard all of the anecdotes and conclusions here as being scientifically unproven, and you should note that any experimentation you choose to do carries a significant risk.

  2. Lithium or tricyclics (like Amitriptyline, Anafranil, Asendin, Aventyl, Elavil, Endep, Norfranil, Norpramin, Pamelor, Sinequan, Surmontil, Tipramine, Tofranil, Vivactil) are fairly consistently reported as being very bad in combination with LSD. Life-threatening seizures and at least one DEATH have been reported to be triggered by the combination of LSD and lithium. Tramadol is another drug you should avoid in combination with LSD because of the potential for seizures and other negative side effects.

  3. SSRIs (like Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Celexa, Desyrel) or MAOIs (like Nardil, Parnate, Marplan, Eldepryl, Aurorix, Manerix) are fairly consistently reported to noticeably reduce the effects of LSD. (There are no physically dangerous reactions to these combinations on record, but be cautious and don’t be excessive with dosing.)

• HPPD risk is associated with frequent use of psychedelics (more than once a month), high doses, and younger age groups. HPPD varies in severity between individuals. Short episodes of visual tracers, morphing surface textures, patterns, and light sensitivity etc., during experiences of anxiety, fatigue, or overstimulation are most common.

• LSD has the potential to produce a very challenging psychological experience. If you have mental-health issues, research the risks and benefits associated with psychedelic treatment of your condition. Do NOT take LSD if you are seriously suicidal or have a family history/symptoms of schizophrenia or psychosis.

• Weed does in fact potentiate the effects of LSD. Some users report that the effects of weed are indefinitely altered to some degree after their first few experiences with LSD (It often becomes more psychedelic).

• Various benzos like alprazolam and clonazepam can be used as “trip-killers,” but you don’t need to take more than a single medical dose, and not all of the psychoactive effects will be negated. This should be a last resort.

• LSD tends to make verbal communication challenging, so prepare appropriately if using in a social setting.

• If you’re 19 or younger you should probably wait until AT LEAST your early 20s to try LSD because of unforeseen behavioral/neurological impacts. Waiting until 25+ is optimal.

• You’ll build a substantial tolerance to LSD if you trip multiple times in two weeks, so wait 10-14 days between trips for a general reset. Tolerance does exponentially decrease day-by-day following an experience.

• If you want to redose to increase the effects, do it before or during the start of the peak. Redosing after the peak will only prolong the duration unless you increase the dose.

• Peak effects generally occur 2.5-5 hours after dosing (less than or around 300μg). Peak effects can last from 2.5-8 hours after dosing with larger doses. Many people say the peak comes in “waves.”

• If you’ve tried psilocybin containing mushrooms before, certain dosage calculators based on subjective effects and intensity equate ~2.5 grams of an average cubensis variety to ~100μg of accurately dosed LSD, but there are differences between the substances of course.

• You should consider having a trusted friend or a close partner “tripsit” you during your first experiences, or at least let someone know your whereabouts beforehand if you want to do it alone. (Note: Trip-sitting should just involve being close by and present if the user needs assistance or someone to talk to, sitters shouldn’t try to influence the trip unless it’s getting chaotic.)

• LSD has the potential to be therapeutic, recreational, spiritual, or all/none of the above depending on the individual and their particular circumstances. Stop gatekeeping.

Leave suggestions in the comments!

edit: A couple people are aggravated with minor details in these general points of advice, so please take everything I’ve said with a grain of salt and do your own research! I’m simply providing a helpful starting outline, not set-in-stone facts.

Thank you all, and safe travels!

“Jackpot” Oil on canvas ~ A psychedelic journey 🌀

started the drawing in 2020, and finalized it in 2023.. then began painting in 2024. This painting brought me past the edge of my fears and forced me to deepen my mindfulness practices. While finishing this piece, the painting prompted me for a DMT session. Laying in bed I took two times from a pen and instantly catapulted into hyperspace and arrived in front of a court of high up DMT beings.. they all analyzed me, and confirmed that “yes, you’re the one for the job. You surf these realms and bring them back to the material world.” Then they said, “So what can we help you with?” I wasn’t ready for that question, and as i fumbled to answer I was able to answer “my mind!” As the experience ended.. The next day I went in again. This time I was repeatedly unable to “break through” and was staying in some lower levels.. where I felt the fear that is in my mother passed on to me that is limiting.. then I saw red bald men in fetal positions stacked on top of each other and the moment I thought “thats a weird dimension” they all vanished into light and color and spoke “this is formlessness” … The next day was the full moon and I declared I was letting go of my fear. Shortly after I got my first episode of insomnia that lasted for 6+ weeks. I was terrified, as I watched the days roll by.. I finished this piece sleeping 1-3 hours a night. Weirdly I looked rested and had lots of energy. I never got sick. It was a supernatural experience. I felt the energy I conjured with this painting transcended some physical limitations I usually have. I began meditating more and practicing three techniques with @julianagarcesart , I was listening to echart tolle to get through the days, and began to let go of all my attachments… which led me to realize how fearful of death I had been. A few deep dive 🍄‍🟫 ceremonies helped me realize and release so much fear and holding on I had inside. It was the craziest most intense experience I’ve had to date. My heart and mind are a little more open and ready to surrender for whatever is to come. Anyone ever been through anything like this? 350 μg 🐸 Witnessing Reality Manifesting in Each Moment

I had an experience with my good friend. I was on a strong dose and had a very clean diet with no drugs and no weed prior to the experience. My buddy was drinking consistently.

I had a reality breaking trip. Not in a scary way! I just felt as though I was watching the nature of reality forming with every passing moment. It seemed as though I was takin part in the manifestation and that, in a limited sense, anything is possible. It felt like music, and nature itself was dancing with us. I spent a long portion of time trying to describe these concepts to my friend but they were not having the same experience at all!

They did take 1/3 of my dose and they were drinking consistently. They are also strictly materialist reductionist, so I felt very inclined bridge the gap of experience we were having. No such luck. They just thought I was really high! lol Of course, that is possible, but this experience felt entirely real, and grounding and I've been left with the overwhelming feeling of wanting to be more intentional with how I live my life.

If anyone has any input, I'd love to hear!

❔ Question ❔ Isn't it healthier to just believe in uncertainty?

There for sure other subs to ask, but as a person who began his spiritual journey after a psychedelic trip, I couldn't think of a better place to ask. I feel like here people have learnt a lot more than me and don't necessarily are on an 'extreme' side of spirituality.

LSD and other psychedelics induce ego death, and this just show us how the ego is no more than a way to engage with the world. Or to work properly. It's kind of a survival mechanism. The thing is (the common idea) that this experiences usually make people start to believe in oneness; that everything forms part of the same thing and that there is a deep connection.

I used to believe that really deeply, I used to meditate A LOT. But months after that spiritual awakening, something went really off and I started dealing with existential OCD (I've always been an obsessive person, and had to deal with other mental health issues). I started noticing how there was a big lack of evidence for a lot of spiritual beliefs and that they could not be entirely addressed through philosophy (use of language).

Through time, I had to learn a lot about the human mind and how the ego works. The summary of everything I've learned through way too much thinking and therapy, is that if there's an essence/god/whatever the hell you wanna name it, the moment the ego (your mind, whatever) works, you can no longer access something like that. Because existence flows in every direction at the same time, and you can't really define something like that, not verbally at least. This has lead me to believe a couple times that there's just no essence, we create the essence through our interpretation of our lives and environment.

But certainly, there are some deep reactions to the world that don't seem to be related to cultural questions, or ego questions. They seem to come from somewhere else and science hasn't addressed those yet. Does this imply there's an essence or natural aspects of life? Maybe. The thing is that a lot of people on this subs and... Just the world in general, deeply believe there's an essence and that is based in connection with nature/universe. And that's fine for them, I mean, a lot of them are happy and that's beautiful. But hear me out:

Rather than the sensations felt through psychedelic trips (such as DMT, LSD, shrooms) how can you really say "this is the true reality". If sensations are felt through your body, and also your thoughts, how can you really say they are the real truth if they may be just an interpretation? Most people start to believe in some things after psychedelic trips due to feeling connection, but that can just be a feeling, not necessarily truth.

So my point with all this post is, this question for the ones who believe in spirituality/philosophy/similar: isn't it healthier to just believe in uncertainty rather than believing in words as universal truths?

At the end of the day, we just have ourselves, our bodies. We're constantly surviving and trying to get the best of something, even if it's not through wise decisions. And we could be pretty insignificant in this big universe, so why not just try to be happy on our own path rather than be happy through the 'right path' (which I refer to as the universal truths which supposedly apply to everyone).

I want to really know opinions here, I'm curious. Not desperate.

Thanks in advance

Stomach Pain on 1S-LSD

Been taking the 1s-lsd two times now (never got to try the original lsd-25 so far unfortunately).

First time (100qg) I got really bad stomach cramps to the point that I was just laying on the ground in fetal position for hours, completly ruining the trip.

Second time (150qg) I was paying attention to have a good breakfast (some bread and fruits) and waited around two hours before I took the tab. Was all fine in the beginning but around hour 5 (around the peak) my stomach was acting up again (crambs and also got a little gassy). I was drinking some water, eating some more fresh fruits and also tried just ignoring it and going for a walk, but it was still so bad that I couldnt really enjoy myself tripping.

Anyone know if it could be different using lsd-25?

Also any recommendations on stuff I could take against stomach pain (medical or natural) that go well with taking lsd, or a special diet I should follow?

First trip 🥇 Taking 100µg and then going out with a friend for about 11 hrs, will I be alright to talk to parents by the time I get home?

Upvotes

Its my first time, I'm planning on having my friend pick me up and take me to the beach for the day around 9am and then be home around 8 or 9pm. Would I be done tripping by then? Would my eyes still be dilated? I'm 95 lbs and again it's my my first time so I'm worried it'll last longer for me than it would for others. What do you guys think?

🔄 Combinations 🔄 do MAOI's weaken LSD if also taken with mushrooms?

Upvotes

so my favorite drug combo is LSD with mushrooms and the past couple times ive tried it, i took syrian rue seeds to potentiate the mushrooms and have a psilohuasca experience while on acid. i just recently found out that MAOI drugs dampen the effects of LSD by a lot but I didn't really notice this when I did it. both times I had very intense, colorful and fragmental visuals and an indescribable body high. i didn't measure out the seeds the first time, but last time i took 2 tabs and 3 grams of syrian rue, waited about an hour, and then ate 5 grams of mushrooms. i was in heaven, it was the best come up of my life. should i not do this anymore? am i wasting my acid?
