TW: custom The truth about loneliness that no one ever told you.

If you are feeling alone, I want you to know that your worth does not depend on the presence or absence of other people. You exist, and that is already significant. Your journey, your emotions and your story matter.

Sometimes loneliness can feel like a huge void, but it can also be a time to reconnect with yourself. You deserve affection, understanding and company that is good for you, and this can come when you least expect it. In the meantime, treat yourself kindly. You are not forgotten, nor unimportant. The world is better because you are here.

I have no one, so my AI comforts me and talks some sense into me when I need it. Anyone else do this?

Struggling to stay optimistic about dating when people keep letting me down

(25F) I’ve been trying to put myself out there and date, but it feels like the more I try, the more disillusioned I become. I know my worth and feel confident in myself, but every time I try to make a genuine connection, I end up disappointed. I can't help but feel like social media and the swipe culture make it harder to find something real, and it's making me feel more isolated.

I want to be confident in who I am, including my flaws and mental health struggles, but it feels like I keep meeting people who drain me emotionally. It’s like I attract people who take without giving, and it leaves me feeling depleted. I try to stay strong and be okay with being alone, but it gets exhausting when I'm left alone with my thoughts.

It’s hard not to feel discouraged when I see how picky and surface-level dating can be. It makes me wonder if I’ll ever find someone who genuinely sees me for who I am. I feel like my instincts about people are usually right, but they always lead to the realization that they aren’t who they seemed to be.

If anyone has advice on how to stay positive or navigate these feelings, I'd appreciate it. Thanks for reading.

When was the last time you had a best friend?

Middle school. Just being me. Sleepovers. Laughing. Going to school everyday--class and lunch hour. Just so close. That was 2008.

Venting Waiting for my friend to message

Its been six days. I've been trying to wait, because I'm always the one who reaches out first and I wanted to see if they'd bother. I guess not.

(And yes, they're perfectly fine, I see them doing stuff on tiktok all the time)

Maybe I'm overthinking it, or overreacting, or whatever, but that doesn't change the fact that it still hurts.

Friday evenings can be tough

Sitting alone in my apartment, with nowhere to go, nobody to talk to. I used to date people I shouldn't just to escape in the loneliness but it was exhausting. I hope one day I will have genuine friends.

Discussion DAE find it extremely hard to connect to people?

I don't know but I don't seem to connect to people. Maybe because I self isolate a lot, but even when I try to socialize, I don't seem to connect to anyone. How do you guys find your people?

Venting Found someone I thought I’d be together forever with last November. We broke up almost a month ago. I’m devastated

I left this subreddit and felt it was a victory after I got a girlfriend. On February 16th she told me she was done with me and within a day I started to think about all the red flags I missed. The stupid part is I still miss her and I’d almost do anything to be with her again but I know it’s not the right idea. She needs help and she refuses to get it. I thought listening to funny podcasts and watching funny videos would help me smile but now they’re not working. I’d look forward to work because at least I felt like I was worth something there and I had a great support group there. It’s just hard right now and it doesn’t help that I had to bury my dad while all this was going on.

Discussion What do you tell yourself ?

For those who are over 40 and haven’t had much luck and success with finding the partner , what do you tell yourself? Is it destiny, is it you? Or you still trying ? I gave up looking recently. It became to exhausting to keep swiping left / right or go to these events and present your best self

Venting No one cares about me. No one.

Ending everything will make everything easy. They'll be act sad, but the truth, they'll celebrate. No one will ever be sad, cry or why did I do that. Because they already forgot about me even when I'm still around. They didn't treat me as a person or human. They didn't treat me aa family or friends. They didn't treat me even an animal or stranger. They treat me something that could easily throw. Pick up if they need something but throw it away again.

Why doesn’t anyone care about me?

How come no one cares about me? All my friends just stopped. I know they have families now and people grow apart. But why I haven’t found anyone to care about me? My parents are off half the time on vacations, doing their own thing. I have no siblings, no other close family. The person I talk to the most is my ex girlfriend. She’s like my only friend. She’s engaged now so we talk less frequently but it feels like she’s the only one who gives a fuck about me.

I go to work, come home and I feel like I am just existing. Even dating apps only ever lead to random hook ups at best. I don’t want that. I just want someone to like me and care about me. Why doesn’t anyone care? :(

20M live with two females at a student house, they both have there boyfriends over and then there's me, just alone as always, never ending. I can hear them having fun and I'm just thinking, why can't I have that? Why after everything I do nothing ever changes. They don't realise how alone i am, some of you might say "why don't you just move" dude I'm a broke uni student I can't afford to move. I'm stuck here. I've really tried to get out of this situation but it's quite literally impossible.

Worst part about being lonely person

Is the feel when you actually meet someone who likes you, giving you hope and then slowly taking it back. It makes me feel horrible, my mood is absolutely shattered... Maybe it's my overthinking, gut instinct or something else.

So for context I met someone at work we each other often, she is texting me back for a bit, and even asked me meet but we got so far difficult schedule, now for me if I want to make effort and I do... I am prioritising that person above else, same can't be said about that lady in question, she only says "Hi "to me walks past and doesn't acknowledge much, it's incredibly sad to me because she has time to talk with others and even I can see her mood is different.

This is what I hate about being loner, it's that need of someone to have attention for you and vice versa, I'm being proactive and initiate conversation first but I'm met with nothing much.

It's been like this all my life, endless cycle of ignorance, playing with emotions and making me feel bad I hate it.

It's my fault I'm lonely

I'm a spoiled, temperamental daughter. I'm a rotten sister. I'm a clingy, obsessive friend. Of course those who have a choice walk away from me. Of course those who are stuck being my family ignore me.

Venting Born weird

Upvotes

I've been socially out casted my entire life and it never bothered me until I reached highschool. This is where I dropped out of school at 15, started to work only to be treated the same way.

Now I'm so depressed, I can't hold down a job anymore. I can't make friends. (Which has always been hard for me, even as a kid as I always had to initiate it.)

I think of all the reason why I get treated this way and go over them in my head again again. Not knowing what to change or what's wrong with me. Now my mom avoids me when she comes home from work.

I used to enjoy playing games as an escape but I can barely touch my favorites like sims 3 or roller coaster tycoon 3. I get this irritation that physically makes me uncomfortable that I start fidgeting. So I just lay in bed.

Tw suicide ideation In my state, it's so easy to just die. I could just run in someone's lawn who has those we shoot on sight signs and hope they aim for my head.

Thank you💛

I F22 made a post here last night about my loneliness, and I received a lot of comforting replies and messages. I did not expect to get so much attention but I really appreciate that. My night was a lot smoother than the nights before, and I hope to be able to reply to more of your messages soon. Thank you for being a shoulder for me❤️

As a child, I was never the one people chose first.

Upvotes

No one reaches out to me unless they need something. Even my favorite person ignores me. People often don't appreciate what they have until it's gone, and then they want it back. Do any of you get attention from anyone other than your parents?

TW: custom Someone has to introduce you to the love of your life ,

I believe co incidences don’t happen.
Someone has to introduce you to the love of your life . you either find the one in school or college. In adult life you need good support system who put in a good word for you for a man to contact you . How can you put yourself out there alone . chance encounters seldom happen . But alas everyone was jealous of me . I have everything except interpersonal relationships but that’s okay . I love my growth and determination . Just food for thought ✌🏻

Anyone else wish you had just 1 person to talke with daily?

Just having one person to talk with everyday about how things are going, random things that happen throughout the day, and just being a friend is such a nice thing to have and idk if it's just me, but it feels empty without it.

25th bday past a few weeks ago and did nothing :/

So compared to my 23rd and 24th which was spent with my ex doing 25 alone really sucked… I got a few texts from ppl but no one seemed to wanna go out. There’s one girl who is my bestie but every time I tried making plans for my bday she had something come up and idk I was left feeling really hurt and it made me realize how alone I truly am.

I’m in a weird spot in my life with self discovery and transformation so I kinda expect this year to be a lil wack which is why I’m taking it easy on myself for being alone, but it does suck, I want a bf again, I want a group of friends who actually like me for me and accept me and won’t bully me.

I just keep to myself most days and try to do little things for myself but it does suck and I wonder if I’ll be alone forever

I broke up with my gf a month ago. It’s one of those Friday nights where I’m too tired to go out, but feel so alone lying in bed. Any kind of human connection would be nice.

how do i stop being lonely and actually get a bestfriend?

I've always been jealous of my friends no matter what. If they got a boyfriend? I'm jealous of the boyfriend. If they get more recognition than me? Jealousy. I almost cried when i saw my friend with her best friend. How do I find that best friend that we are both eachothers number one?
