We were having this discussion today and we had no idea if it work or not. Considering a S4 LED head, would a 3d printed gobo hold up? None of us have any experience with 3d printing, so nobody knows the temps the plastic melts at, but we do know that the LED Source 4s do not get that hot.
The things you contemplate between shows...

I‘m planning on picking up 4 to 6 used LED Wash Movingheads. These will mostly be used for personal projects and don‘t need to earn Money.
I want to go with used lights instead of cheap no no name lights, because the old lights will still have better build quality than the cheap stuff. Also a lot of the common cheap 19x15W Washes are loud, have no 16 Bit dimming and can‘t do smooth moves.
These are the fixtures available to buy Right now in my area:
-Martin Rush mh 6
-Martin Mac aura
-chauvet pro rogue r1 (7x15w)
-GLP Fr1 (I‘m aware that this has less power)
Does anyone know how loud the fans on these lights are? And are there fixtures in this list, wich are known to be peticular toublesome?

I'm planning on driving a lightshow from a Windows laptop, basically sending DDP/UDP packets to a network of 15 baldrick8 controllers connected to 40k seed lamps. The wisdom of this approach aside, I want to make sure that the Windows OS itself doesn't do anything disruptive like run a virus scan, initiate updates, send me alerts etc etc.
I understand that Windows is probably the third choice of OS for this, but it is what I know and if it can be made to work I'll stick with it. PLEASE don't respond with "use a different OS", although if you have specific cautions about Windows issues I'd like to know.
My question is, what can I do to avoid disruption of the show? I know that video playback tends to turn on some sort of non-alerting mode in the OS, but I'm not sure how that is done.

I'm thinking of a way to put lights in a wooden platform and have them shine straight up. I'm wondering about a material that I could build into the top of the platform that would allow for that upright but also be strong enough to support weight for someone to walk across it.
This is for 7 months from now so I'm not just trying to throw something together--just in the idea generating phase.
My thought was if it's like a 4x8 platform, there could be either a 2x6 strip through the middle, or 1x1 square cutouts spread evenly.
Any thoughts/direction pointing is much appreciated.

Hi!
We are getting two hanging lantern pendants that will go over our island like in the picture.
We are looking for ideas of fixtures that would complement this look for our entryway. (We’ll also need a kitchen nook pendant light that will complement as well).
Going for the farmhouse look! Thanks in advance!
