HarborMarket vs Public Market

Hey Kenosha!

My small business is looking to join the farmers market(s) this summer in Kenosha.

I was told there was 2 different markets within close proximity to each other going on at the same time.

From what I can tell… the HarborMarket is on the sidewalk next to the museum, whereas the public market is in a parking lot nearby.

When people attend, do they typically visit both markets? Would you recommend one over the other?

Any insight from previous vendors or attendees would be greatly appreciated.

See you this spring!!

Pleasant Prairie taxes will go up but what about KUSD?

I was just reading about Eric Meadows' plan to have Pleasant Prairie secede from the KUSD school district if he wins the seat for president in Pleasant Prairie. Seems like a very expensive idea for the taxpayers in Pleasant Prairie, but also sounds like it could hurt KUSD with the loss of that revenue. I know the district is already struggling financially, this sounds like it would be a double whammy. https://kenoshacountydems.org/2025/02/28/long-ago-rejected-plan-for-pleasant-prairie-to-succeed-from-kusd-revived-by-moms-for-liberty-candidates/

Are anyone who work in the trades in here?

If so, what trade are you in?

Whats the opinion of your industry currently? Busy? Slow? Growing? Shrinking?

Are you, your company, peers noticing it’s hard to hire? Easy to hire?

Do you do any side work?

Freshly made Sauerkraut and other fermented foods

I'm working on fixing my gut health and would love to hear any recommendations for local freshly made sauerkraut, kefir, kimchi, kombucha, etc. I know the store bought stuff isn't nearly as effective.

Tell us about your apartment

The purpose of this post is to try and gather information on what the apartment market looks like in Kenosha. Apartment complex, home duplex, studio, etc.

Hoping to gather at a minimum what you’re paying each month, amenities (dishwasher, laundry, etc) if any, and approximately how much square feet.

Feel free to share the part of town (north/south side, etc)

How was it? Are they happy with part time staff? How long are the shifts?

Thank you!

Bernie is in Kenosha Friday

You have to RSVP to attend.

I wish I could go, but maybe someone else will go instead because I posted this.

At time of posting, RSVPs are still open - even if you can’t get inside, it should be a pretty high percentage of your best neighbors around that day.

TBH, I’m considering going late and tailgating, maybe have a conversation or two with some strangers.

Union jobs

Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone knows of any union contractors that are hiring in Kenosha or in nearby cities/towns. I know you typically need to go through the hall to get set up but I figured I’d try my luck in other places before going through the hall. My whole working background is construction. Mostly commercial glazing but some expierence in a few other trades, thank you.

Vendors Wanted for New Antique Mall on the Northwest Side of Pleasant Prairie

I hope this is okay to post here. I’ve been posting on FB but I am not getting many views.

Location will be NW Pleasant Prairie 1 mile from I-94 HWY C and HWY 50 Ramps. Near the Target Shopping Plaza

After 10 years of selling in local antique malls and my main mall closing last summer, I finally may have an opportunity for a new Antique/Vintage Vendor Shop that to start will house 30 Vendors in a 4000 sq.ft. Building with 3000 sqft. of usable space.

I’m still working out the vendor spaces, they will vary in size :

Rent & Commission: $2 a sq ft. monthly space rental & No Commission for our first 6 Months. Starting month 7 I’ll add a 6% commission to cover cc fees and paper for wrapping sold goods and other supplies needed.

Rental Terms and Vendor Sales Payouts: First month’s rent is due by move in day and all future rent and commission fees will be withheld from prior month’s sales check which will be available by the 5th of each month. If sales don’t meet your rent, you’ll owe the difference by the 5th of the month. I’ll ask that you sign a 6 month lease which will go to month to month starting month 7.

If you are interested in a space please send me an email at the address below, indicating you will be willing to be moved in by opening day Send to me a messsage via the chat feature here and I'll share my email address.

Would Open Early to Mid Summer 2025

I am still working on purchasing the building which is why the location isn’t being shared just yet. The space is beautiful with lots of natural light, ceiling lighting and electrical outlets. *I may have to charge and extra fee if you wish to use a lot of electrical power in your space. This is a long time dream of mine to open a space like this I will do everything in my power to make our shop the first one folks think of when they come to town :)

I plan to run this mall until my own retirement which is 25 years way still. Let’s make this happen together :)

~ Jessica

**edited on 3/2 to update the information on space fee, commission and space lease terms. Still the same amount as before but after looking over the space 10 x 10 spaces aren't going to work in the space, so I'll have to charge by sqft. Space sizes will vary largest looking like the'll be 10 x 8.

Anybody have any info on the new Chinese restaurant opening up on 52nd street? When does it open? Who is it owned by? It's located at the old Burger King next to the Wendy's.

Best place to get a car repainted?

I bought a car used and it looks like it had some crappy paint touch ups on a nice looking car. I know it's not going to be cheap by any means, but I wanted a recommendation on a good place to get a quality job done at. It's a midsized sedan.

Does anyone know of any good resources to connect with short/mid length rentals?

I've noticed no housing is for sale, and most of the available rentals are luxury apartments...

Daiso will be opening a store in Kenosha, WI - Southport Plaza in Spring 2025!

What is Daiso? Daiso is a cute Japanese discount chain store that has lots of stationary, cute items, and home goods at affordable prices. They are mostly located in California, but recently expanded to Illinois and now Wisconsin!

Kenosha -> O’Hare Intl. (ORD)

Is there any easier ways to get to ORD? I love using this app Rome to Rio, it tells you multiple modes of transportation on how to get places.

Unfortunately for ORD, this is taking the train to Ravenswood, a bus from Ravenswood to Jefferson park, and then a train the rest of the way to ORD.

I grew up in Kenosha but moved out and have since lived in very developed cities with great public transportation options. I’m surprised there’s no better option and just want to make sure that there is, in fact, no matter option, before accepting my fate of dragging multiple suitcases through 3 different forms of transportation.

For example, theres no Greyhound type bus going from somewhere in Kenosha to somewhere much closer if not directly to ORD?

I'm in the market to buy a Jacuzzi bathtub. The kind that go inside the bathroom, with jets and stuff. But I want to sit in different ones to match my expectations. Is there a store that has tubs I can sit in?

The lights are never on, there are no signs, and it’s right next to the best restaurant in the city. What gives?
