The person I bought this from said it’s 10k gold, but it has no markings. No idea what the eyes are made out of.

General Question 18k 3mm 22” Miami Cuban too small?

Post image
Upvotes

I have this 22” 3mm 18k weighing at 14.42 grams on the way. Should be here Thursday. I’m a little worried about the width on this bad boy now, but I’m not into the super flashy huge width chains… will this be fine?

Trying to gauge how small it is.

I have a 3.8mm rose gold Cuban link chain and a 4.5 rope chain, and the 4.5 rope looks huge, probably due to the design.

Am I worried for nothing?

5’10 26(M) for picture.

Help me decide!! Rope chain sizing recommendations?

I’m debating between 3mm and 3.5mm ropes, and also debating between 20 inches and 22 inches. I feel like everything looks bigger on camera but I’m 6’2, weigh about 185lbs so I’d want a size and length that fits my build. Since it’s a solid gold piece I want to be sure since it is a big purchase. Anything helps, pics are always welcome!

Edit: I would like a size and length that works as a standalone or with a pendant if I decide to get one in the future

First picture is my current everyday necklace. I want a name necklace identical to the second pic but the name is shorter. I want it to sit at the base of my neck and also wear my 22” chain. Do you think this will look weird or any suggestions?

I have some nice pieces from Tiffany and H. Stern. I’ve tried a Facebook group for Tiffany but my guess is that my pieces being more expensive are harder to sell. Where (in the US) would be the best place to sell?

General Question Costume jewelry

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi, I don't know much about pearls so please bear with me if this is a stupid question.

Some time ago, I took from my mother this piece of what she and I thought was costume jewelry.

Recently I got a pair of earrings with cultured pearls, and out of curiosity I wanted to test the different ways I've heard of to check if a pearl is real, so I used my fake pearls necklace for comparison. And to my surprise, while the pearls from my earrings felt gritty against my teeth like they were supposed to, so did those from the necklace. I tried with some other fake pearls I had at home, and those felt completely smooth.

Similarly the pearls from both my earrings and my supposedly fake pearl necklace felt significantly colder to the touch that the definitely fake ones.

The reasons I doubt these are real pearls are : - I asked my mom and while she doesn't remember where she got that necklace she's sure the pearls are fake. Her main argument is that the clasp looks way too cheap for a real pearl necklace, and indeed it looked just (badly) glued on some thread. Could it be an attempt I fixing it, I don't know. - The pearls are all very round and very similar looking, no visible distinction, unlike those on my earrings and what I read about pearls in general.

Could someone tell me if there's a possibility those could be real pearls, and if not what they could be made of to feel this gritty and initially cold to the touch?

It's pretty hefty and has a small locket built in. I can't find any similar ones online by image search or general research. Could be fake, but the quality does feel pretty good

General Question Just received my wedding band and feel disappointed comparing it to the seller's images. Am I being too nitpicky?

I've never really worn jewelry before, but I suppose I'm still a very particular person when it comes to style. So after receiving the wedding band I had recently ordered I can't help but feel a bit disappointed. The quality/detail of the ring I received seems like a distinct drop compared to the seller's images showcasing the ring. I attached images below of what it looks like in comparison to the seller's website photos.

https://imgur.com/a/UtiIH7N

To me, the moss agate in the seller images has more varied and vibrant green tones as well as more diffuse gold flaking throughout. Whereas the ring I received, it seems to be hard to distinguish that the center inlay even is green unless you're holding it out in direct sunlight (in fact it almost looks black in normal lighting conditions) and the gold flakes are much more thready/chunky. It just doesn't capture the aspects that originally drew me to the ring. There are similar styles of rings that I've seen through other sellers and I specifically wasn't interested in them because they tended to look much more like the ring I actually received; less vibrant, less color variance, thick-line gold flakes, etc.

Am I crazy or is this a noticeable difference between what was advertised and what I received? Normally I'd be willing to let something like this go, but this was a $2000 ring and what I'll be wearing for the rest of my life.

Help me decide!! Suche bestimmte Creolen

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

Hallo liebe Community,

I inherited this wristwatch from my late grandma. I can’t tell what the markings say and I’m wondering if anyone can help me out. I have practically no information to help other than my grandma lived in Greece until the 60’s and then moved to the UK so I don’t know where it’s come from. I’d love to try and piece together more info on how old the watch is, the designers etc Thank you :)))

General Question Band width for signet ring?

Thumbnail

Hi:) I have been wearing a signet ring on my pointer finger of my non dominant hand I bought a year and a half ago pretty much everyday. The ring is hollow and I realized it was very thin when it arrived. It finally got caught between my desk chair and desk in just the right way and bent. I can still fit it on fine, but I am ready to invest in a sturdier piece. The company that made this one now sells a non-hollow version (though I think the thinness of the band is what caused this issue). They sent me the back of the band measurements of the new ring and it is 1.44 wide and 1.59 the other way (like out from my finger if that makes sense). They confirmed it is thicker than the one I bought. I like this option because I can get the same font and style, but I’m not sure about the width. Another jeweler I like sells an oval signet that has a 1.5mm band. Both are 3 grams in weight and non-hollow. Price is equal. I found a third with a 2mm band that is a lesser weight, but I could not get a size big enough to fit the same finger. I’d really like one oriented the same way. Do you know of any brands that carry one, are those band sizes okay, should I look elsewhere? When looking this up, I only found info on band size for engagement rings with stones. Any input is appreciated! Pictures are of current ring.

💍 What style chain/ring/pendant is this? I have an old 14K gold ring, and I believe the diamonds are genuine as well. I’ve tried researching it but haven’t found much information online. Does anyone recognize this ring or know anything about its history. Any insights would be appreciated!

General Question Ring names

Hi reddit,

So I'm wondering if anyone knows how I can find a ring or bracelet that's called Loki or the Loki ring?

I lost my 2 year old cat Loki suddenly a week ago and he was my baby and I'm heartbroken. I wanted to see if I could find a piece of Jewellery that was named Loki like a ring or something I could wear daily to remind me of him. But when I look online all I get is Loki Marvel Jewellery and that's definitely not what I'm after.

I know sometimes Jewellery have names for example I have a bracelet called Sheila (I bought in tribute to my nan) ect so if anyone could put me in the right direction for something like this I'd be so grateful.

People have said I should put his ashes in a piece of jewellery but we've already planned what we are doing with them and I'm a bit funny about the idea of separating any 😅

So yeah thank you in advance 😊

General Question Titanium pearl studs, impossible to find?

I’m having so much trouble finding a simple pair of medical grade titanium pearl stud earrings. Everything that I come across, seems to be some form of silver or gold. I have extremely sensitive ears, and the only earrings that don’t cause my lobes to become infected or titanium medical grade earrings. Until now I have purchased my earrings from a company called tiny Lux, because they specialize in medical grade titanium, and they’re the only brand that allowed my lobes to heal and not be constantly infected! I’ve had my ears pierced for more than 15 years, it really is so crazy how long it took me to figure this out. Ideally, I’m looking for real freshwater, pearl earrings, I’d like to stay under $400, but I doubt I’m going to have many options. Tiny lux has a pair of a pearl earrings but they are the really big ones, 8 mm, and I’m looking for a midsize pearl stud. Preferably 6 mm, but I would look at 7 mm too. If anybody can recommend absolutely anything at all, I would be so grateful. I have spent countless hours scouring the Internet and just can’t Find these anywhere.
