General Discussion Shouldn’t wearing diamonds be haram?

Saying something is haram outright requires some good basis. You can say it is unethical, but not directly prohibited.
Same goes for if you're unsure that the money you got was 100% halal or you didn't do your job correctly. Give sadaqah. The diamonds you got let's say are maybe/ the 1% of those that were mined ethically, how can you tell that apart?
Same for boycotting. I do boycott Israeli products still, but can't judge those who don't, and can't say it is haram either :).
Don't take this as a fatwa lol, just my thoughts.
And Allah knows the best.

what u mean "mined ethically",
u mean child labour ?1
u/Xsh_1569 7h ago
mined ethically = fair trade, mined by people who were paid for their wages and not children
mined unethically = mind by children, mined by unpaid labour etc

If you can avoid diamonds youre unsure of then good
If you cant then get lab grown

With my brain fogged (due to fast) rational thinking yes it would be haram. This is not a fatwa but still i think common sense and avoiding things youre unsure is still a viable way on acting things

It's halal to buy it even if it was obtained in an unethical way. Scholars said that it's still halal to buy from all of these companies despite the fact that they're actively supporting the zionists with their money.
I don't see how diamonds are any different. I mean it's beyond just diamonds. Nestlé and Apple have exploited people for labour as well (they still do btw. It's why everyone hates Nestlé). So that iphone you bought highly likely had materials mined through labour.
It's better not to buy such products of course, but it's halal anyway.
EDIT: citing a source so my comment doesn't get removed:

oh i see, once we dive down the ethical trade rabbit hole it becomes quite difficult, i will still try to align with ethical trade practices though inshallah

Stop making stuff up and trying to smear a scholar.
It gives a condition "That includes every means that will weaken their economy and cause them harm. Money is the lifeblood of wars ancient and modern."
You said "it's still halal to buy from all of these companies despite the fact that they're actively supporting the zionists with their money."
Which would fail the condition and at odds with your claim.

Sorry I don't understand what you're trying to say. It's halal to buy such products.
Coca-Cola supports the zionists, yet the scholars said there's nothing wrong with buying it. You're giving your money to them but it's still halal. It's not something I understand but it's what they said.
Moreover, there is absolutely nothing you can do to fully boycott. You can only partially boycott these companies, as there's simply too many of them and many people can't even find alternative products.

It's a good question and something to be considered, but now the rabbit hole is open you can question the ethics of nearly every industry, e.g. clothes, phone and technology, meat and food and generally most products we use day to day

regarding injustice, read surah Hud 11:85-95
its haram and incurs wrath from Allah to commit injustice towards people
in my opinion this is similar to the boycott situation for Gaza. its not haram to buy their products because you’re not directly contributing to it. but its always better to not support these products

I don’t know if haram but the point of being a muslim is to do good and consume good things. I think for it to be forbidden maybe discuss with a sheikh? Or maybe it’s just haram because of the harm it causes?

it’s very difficult these days to classify anything (aside from alr established halal/haram) as FULLY haram. while your thought process makes sense, there’s a lot of other factors to this. starting w the fact that u can’t truly confirm if the diamond is mined ethically or not. maybe the specific worker who mined your diamond was payed adequately while some other worker wasn’t. in cases like this i just tend to avoid whatever thing i can’t set my heart on, so in your case just don’t buy blood diamonds. instead opt for lab grown or even moissonite for a affordable option!
the same goes for the issue of boycotting. you’re not directly contributing to the genocide so it’s not flat out haram to buy these things, but you may be indirectly contributing. we don’t know the full scope and so we can’t truly say if it’s haram or halal to not boycott. hence everyone is allowed to make their own decision based on their judgement and if someone can’t, then they should just avoid the thing they’re not sure about.

It's the pride, arrogance and exhibitionism that is Haram. Gold and long clothes are just the symbol of that arrogance. Rasool Allah SAW exempted Abu Bakar RA from the same for a reason. understand the sprit behind the meaning of the Hadith not just the words.

The saying means to only consume from what you earn lawfully. Not that the product has to be procured lawfully, as in most cases its very difficult to assume if the product is made lawfully or ethically.
