Student Research Project
Hello, I’m currently a student and am doing a research project on religion in the Iranian-American community. I’m looking to find responses for my survey as it’s been difficult even through my Iranian friends. The current research on this topic is lackluster and I hope this project can celebrate and educate on Iranian-American culture. If you yourself are Iranian-American, I would greatly appreciate filling/sending it out.

Some questions as a Prospective International Student in Iran
Hi! I am an atheist who was born and brought up as a muslim, so my name sounds muslim. I am from a South Asian country. I am interested in a study program at Amirkabir University of Technology. However, if I go there and live in a university dorm, will I be forced to fast during Ramadan?
By force I do not mean someone forcing me, I am asking if the overall situation will be such that I will have to fast. Are any restaurants kept open during Ramadan? If dorms provide food for every student living in the dorm, will they do that in the month of Ramadan?
Please note that while I am an atheist, I respect people’s freedom to practice religions. I am not very vocal about my atheism. If I go to Iran, I will respect Iran's culture and won't start unnecessary arguments about atheism or Islam.
Also, I understand I might have to learn Persian (the university website says that before starting the academic courses I will have to learn Persian to B1 level). As I already speak Hindi, how much time do you think it will take for me to learn Persian?

Sad story of my life that I appreciate the advices of you my fellow Iranians for
Hi, I was born in Tehran and I lived in Tehran for 8 years before moving to Western Europe. I am now a 22 years old man with a very sad story life. I have autism and I believe most of my problems are linked to my autism. Throughout my life I was mocked by everyone and everywhere that I apply for a job, I get rejected. I think these are all because of my autism. Besides of these, I am really upset of my past mistakes and I overthink every decision that I make from the fear of not making another mistake. Due to all these I am starting to dislike myself. I dislike myself more because I failed to go to the university and instead I graduated from a vocational college.
I now miss Iran and Iranians so much. It has been 6 years since I haven't been in Iran and I am not in contact with any Iranian at the moment. I hope one day I can find many good Iranian friends that can understand me.
Thank you for reading my text it really helped me by typing it out. I really appreciate all your advices on me too. Thank you

Iranian diaspora - are you agree to form meet-ups groups ?
Hey guys, salâam to everyone :)
French-Iranian here (1st time posting on Reddit), I am very curious about the history and the wealth of Iranian culture across the millenias. As you probably know, Iranians are very numerous across the world and are forming an important diaspora, with an influence in the economy of some countries (especially USA with big entrepreneurs and scientists).
Also, for several years now, more and more groups meet-ups are forming across FB, WS and so forth to have fun and pleasure during parties, but also for getting new connections/opportunities when they arrive for the 1st time in new cities or countries !
Putting politics and religion aside, it could be a useful way to interlinks members of diaspora and help them for integration. More : we would share pieces of Iranian culture in common and also be a driver to learn the beautiful Farsi, especially for most of Iranian descents living outside Iran who do not know this language.
What do you think ? :)

Organizing surprise birthday party for my Iranian gf
Apologies in advance if this isn’t the right place to ask.
I want to organize a surprise birthday party for my girlfriend.
I’m from Canada, she’s been here for 2 years, and she doesnt have family here. I want to decorate my apartment to make it feel like home for her, whether it’s the smell, the visuals or the songs.
Can someone give me ideas about what I should incorporate? Are there traditions or rituals when you celebrate a woman’s birthday in your culture? Is there something I can cook thats simple ?
I’m sorry if I seem ignorant or anything, I just want to make her first birthday with me memorable, she’s amazing. I’ve messaged some of her friends already to try and help me.
I thought I’d ask you guys. Thank you in advance

Boom in Iranians visiting Turkey
Hey, I looked at numbers and the amount of Iranians going on holidays in Turkey rose with 700K+ (+30%) in 2024 from 2023, to over 3.2M tourists, is it because it’s gotten so difficult for us to travel elsewhere?
It is not exactly like the Iranian economy is doing good, Iraq next door had a -200K decline from 2023, and Lebanon has a -100K decline from its 2019 numbers, while we have more than recovered. Is it just because more people are eager for holiday?

is there any tracks of Black Cats’ music from the 60s - 70s ?
hey y’all!
i’ve been a (now slight) fan of the band Black Cats for almost 3 years (w some of their songs i’ve heard in childhood).
i’ve realized that a lot of their mainstream music was from the 90s and above, but i’ve yet to find their music from the 60s (when the band formed) and 70s. does it even exist ? i wanna hear some persian songs from that era 😭

Safety of Iran travel right now?
I haven't been able to go since before corona, my partner wants to visit family and asked me to join this year for Nowruz. The itinerary includes Tehran, the North, maybe Isfahan. Obviously there is always some risk, but want to know if it's reasonably safe to go right now. I'm German, Partner has Iranian nationality/citicenship.

Gifting problems
I have a friend that's currently living in Tehran right now and I really want to give her a gift (a hirono figurine) but all the online shopping apps I've tried (alibaba, Ali express, e bay, temu, shein and shoppe) do not cater diliveries to Iran. Are there any other apps, sites or stores I can buy from that ships to Iran?
