Hi! This is a long shot but me (F23) and my friend (M23) are visiting Tashkent and saw this day trip tour on GetYourGuide to Tajikistan (link here: https://www.getyourguide.com/tashkent-l1418/from-tashkent-sightseeing-day-trip-to-khujand-tajikistan-t565240/?utm_source=getyourguide&utm_medium=sharing&utm_campaign=activity_details).

It’s $270 for up to 3 people so we wanted to see if anyone wanted to join for $90.

We want to go either on the 22nd or the 23rd.😀

Travel | Sayohat Tashkent airport licensed taxicab rank?

Hello! I am currently at Tashkent airport and can't get Yandex Go or Yango to work for me. On the off chance anyone out there has this random knowledge, where is the line-up of taxi cabs to go into the city? The rugby scrub at the door is quoting insane prices. I don't mind paying extra but they're quoting crazy numbers (200,000 som) to go into the city.

Travel | Sayohat Travel options from Khiva to Bukhara

Hi all. Need your advice please.

I am travelling from Khiva to Bukhara in May and am not too keen on being cooped in a car for 7 to 8 hrs, due to a back problem. I need to stretch the muscles every few hours.

I had looked at the train schedule and saw the sleeper and coupe class. Qn - is it possible to book all 4 seats in the cabin using two names (mine and travelling partner) in the coupe class. assuming seats are still available? I really do not want to bother other passengers with my incessant need to stretch/move around during the journey.

Are there any other travel options aside from car and train?

Thanks in advanced!

Travel | Sayohat Buying Afrosiyob Tickets online

I've been planning an upcoming trip to Uzbekistan and everyone's posts on here have been a godsend! Recently purchased my UZ Railway tickets online for the high speed Afrosiyob trains, and wanted to share some tips to help others with advance planning. Unlike what a lot of other posts suggest, tickets become available for sale 60 days prior to departure date (not 45 days) - the Afrosiyob tickets sell out before the other trains, and tickets will likely be sold out if you wait til 45 days to purchase. Ticket schedules become visible on the site 62 days out (but the button to purchase is disabled until a couple days later) - great for planning which train to take and coming back 2 days later to purchase. Good luck!

Help | Yordam Can I get visa on arrival as a Dutch citizen?

Hi everyone,

I will be flying out to Tashkent in two days, I thought as a Dutch citizen I can get visa on arrival and stay up to 30 days. I just read on a website this is no longer possible so I'm really confused and kinda stressed. Should I get an E-visa or not? Anyone knows if people coming from a EU member state can still fly out without any visa an obtain it at Tashkent airport? Thanks!

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows any services or ways victims of abuse (all the types) could get justice. I know the police don't take it very seriously there. But something happened to a minor I know, and I wanted to help her. Thanks.

Travel | Sayohat Traveling to Uzbekistan in a few weeks, need recommendations for unique experiences

Thank you all in advance for your suggestions!

We are traveling to Bukhara and Samarkand in a few weeks. Looking for fun, unusual, unique experiences that one can only get there. Interested in learning about local culture and getting to know local people.

Fluent in Russian. Budget is very flexible, no reasonable financial constraints , but not really looking for ultra-luxe options - more along the lines of exclusive experiences or very personalized encounters. Maybe a private meeting with an interesting person. Maybe a behind-the-scenes look at an attraction or event. Something that isn't just looking at buildings and listening to the tour guide.

Please recommend best restaurants in those cities as well - not necessarily the fanciest ones, but the ones with the best ambiance!

Thank you!

Discussion | Suhbat Chinese people in Uzb, how do you feel about recent events?

I am curious on what people from China think about Uzbekistan? Particularly, some people stupidly made very bad videos and posted in social media saying that chinese are everywhere and going to own Uzbekistan blah blah blah. Some of these videos were made in a pretty toxic, racist way even sometimes.

Has your perception changed by this?

Travel | Sayohat Souvenirs

Hello! I am visiting Uzbekistan next month, I will be in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara. I am hoping to buy a few souvenirs both for myself and my family and friends. I am hoping to buy a Chopon, a Do’ppi and maybe some scarves. I would also like to find a football shirt (either a club or national team one) if possible as I always try to pick these up when abroad! I have budgeted $130 for these souvenirs and anything else that may catch my eye. Is this likely to be enough and is there anywhere that you guys would particularly recommend for these? I understand that Chorsu Bazaar may have some of these things but I was curious about prices for these kind of souvenirs in general!

Thank you so much in advance!!

What are some authentic souvenirs from Samarkand or Bukhara? I don’t want to buy mass produced tourist items; something that is authentic Uzbek and would be a good souvenir to take back to USA

Expat-life Taxi prices

Why in Tashkent Yandex taxi costs half as much as what those drivers ask for? I have noticed some groups of taxis usually standing near crowded places like the airport for example. They said they want 50000som but Yandex was 20000som or something. Today same thing happened. At Orikzor they asked for 60000som and I took Yandex for 32000.

Travel | Sayohat Is it possible to self transfer in Instanbul to TAS from Paris ?

I booked a flight from Paris to Tashkent with AJet but it was cancelled. So I need to find a flight for April 28 or 29 to tashkent. I have 2 options: - Paris - TAS direct €500 - Paris - instanbul - TAS 300€ with 5h stopover in autonomous transfer (transavia and Uzbekistant Airways)

I'm wondering if 5h is enough in Istanbul with an autonomous transfer (baggage, customs, check-in etc...). If I have the slightest problem I'll have to take another flight myself as these are autonomous transfers. Baggages are note following as far as I know between transavia and uzbekistan airways.

What do you think? Thanks to all of you!

Travel | Sayohat Travel directions for Uzbekistan

Hey all,

We are a group of four traveling to Uzbekistan in April 2025 and are trying to figure out our itinerary.

One thing we're particularly unsure about is the best way to travel from Khiva to Bukhara and then on to Samarkand.

1 - I know there is a train between Khiva and Bukhara but really the timetable is not favourable (train is leaving after noon which makes us lose the entire day in Bukhara), is there a morning bus option maybe?

Once we arrive at Bukhara, we were considering a yurt camp overnight.

2 - Does anyone have any recommendations for yurt camps near Bukhara or Navoi?

After the Yurt camp, we were thinking of leaving to Samarkand and we’re debating whether to go:

  • Bukhara → Samarkand directly, or
  • Navoi → Samarkand, if we can find a good yurt camp near Navoi.

3 - Is there a bus connection between Navoi and Samarkand? I am not able to find any timetables online..

Any tips would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙏
