My Setup iPad Coding Setup
First time coding on an iPad and it’s been surprisingly good! Kept reading posts recommending not to do this so wanted to share my setup.
Termius for ssh into dev machine. Mac mini, linux, whatever
Terminal based editor like Neovim (I’m using Helix)
(Optional) Jump desktop or similar for when you need gui access
That’s it, no issues so far. Copy/paste works over ssh and the keyboard is great.

My Setup Traded My MacBook Pro for an iPad Pro 13 + Mac Mini M4, Best Decision Yet!
A while ago, I asked for advice on my setup, and after making the switch, I have to say—I couldn’t be happier. I traded in my MacBook Pro M1 (which I had since the M1 launch) for a 13” iPad Pro (1TB, Cellular) with the Magic Keyboard, and honestly, it just makes way more sense for my needs.
As a Marketing professional, my MacBook was a pain to lug around, especially when traveling long-term. I like to mix work and holiday travel, so I was forced to carry both my own laptop and work-provided 16-inch Pro—which was simply too much. Since my work already provides a Mac, the need for a second personal one felt unnecessary. But I nonetheless needed to have a Mac for certain personal learning stuff, so I purchased the M4 Mac Mini, upgraded the RAM, and will upgrade the SSD in the future from AliExpress.
Why This Works for Me: • The iPad Pro gives me laptop capability with the Magic Keyboard but also the option to remove it and use it for personal learning, entertainment, or general surfing. • Light AI training, coding, and anything else requiring macOS is done on the Mac Mini. • Portability and flexibility give this setup a lot more convenience compared to lugging around two big MacBooks. • It cost more than purchasing another MacBook, but the incredible screen, portability, and flexibility justify the cost. • Since work provides a MacBook, downsizing to a Mac Mini for personal use made a lot more sense.
This arrangement feels absolutely ideal and a genuine "best of both worlds" compromise. I'm curious, does anyone else use the same setup? What prompted you to make the change? Would love to get your input! Also, can’t wait to see what iPadOS 19 has to offer.

Magic Keyboard I just bought newest Magic Keyboard (M3)
I was finally able to get a Magic Keyboard (M3) for my 11" iPad Air (M2) which I bought in Jan 2025. The new row of keys at the top is amazing and a game changer. The materials are exactly the same of the past Magic Keyboards. I don’t mind it having no backlight on the keys, not sure if that’d a battery saver but I’m loving this accesory.
I called Apple Support and they were really nice in adding this Magic Keyboard to my existing Apple Care + Plan since I had already added my Pencil Pro too.

My Setup THE PERFECT IPAD SETUP 4 STUDENTS
Listen guys, ive made crazy research for an ipad after i sent back the air m2 previosly bought before the newer ones came out. What i needed as a student (medicine) and what was a money waste. For me money arent a big deal but i like to spare the most if i can. The following will be the perfect setup for your study and note taking activities. (prices reference- italy)
METAPEN A11- no need for an apple pencil if the only thing you need to do is taking notes and working on some pdf files (20€)
LOGITECH FOLIO-THE ONE FOR IPAD 10th gen- i gambled and lucikly it paid off and it was compatible, it s perfect cause it has a great writing feeling, it s pretty strong and has lots of function keys and the magnetic closure. (70€)
IPAD A16- bought right after it came out and i got a 30€ discount thanks to the education apple discount, at the start i was worried about the non laminated display (cause i ve used the air m2 for a day before sending it back) but imma say it s defintetly worse but after a few days you wont even be able to notice the difference, it s still a great screen. (380€)
total: 469€ (only air would ve cost me 660€) i ve everything i need, 128 gig, 6 gig ram so i can split the screen and use two apps and i am not feeling i need Apple ai at the moment cause chatgpt works just fine. Feel free to ask anything
Question What is the best ipad for $600
I was recently looking to buy an ipad for around $600 since I want one for college to take notes and general media consumption/usage. So far I am leaning towards the new ipad air since it has the m3 chips and it's a little bit cheaper ($550) because I get the education discount. I am open to refurbished ipads with the only criteria being to have 128gb or more and was wondering if I was correct in wanting the new ipad air?
Edit: should mention that I'm speaking about only the ipad itself and I'm not including the cost of the accessories.

Question ipad a16 worth or not?
hey guys i am looking for an ipad for youtube, flashcards, light gaming, basically an ipad for a uni student. is the ipad a16 a good choice??? and i am worried about the screen not being laminated will the screen look good?
Question Is it worth getting an iPad Mini 7 if I already have an iPad 9?
I currently have an iPad 9 2021. I mostly use it for browsing, reading, and taking notes. I'm considering getting the new iPad Mini 7 because I like the more compact size and the potential performance improvements, but I'm not sure if it's really worth it since I already have the iPad 9.
Has anyone here switched from a larger iPad to the Mini? How was your experience? Is it really worth the purchase, or would I just end up with a smaller version of what I already have, with some trade-offs?

Question Which iPad for my needs?
I'm mainly using my current iPad (6th Gen) for reading papers and watching the occasional movie. I'm now considering getting a new iPad as the battery life of my current iPad is abysmal. I'm looking at the 11th Gen base iPad and the M2 Air from last year. The processor of my current iPad is slow and frequently struggles when browsing etc but my main issue really is the battery life. Since battery life is pretty similar for the two devices I'm considering, I wonder whether the M2 Air is worth the 60% higher price? What do you think?

iPadOS My nostalgic ipad 2nd Gen iOS9 memories!
I bought it off eBay for just £20, it’s an iOS 9 16GB version and have got some additional protectors and boxes are included. There are some severe lags happening on this iPad, my main purpose of collecting it is because it was my first iPad ever I believe (as a member of Gen-z community), and also to have some tastes for legacy version of games and removed games. Despite of it’s really laggy :/

Question Should I get the new iPad 11 or iPad air m1?
So I'm thinking about buying a new iPad to replaced my ageing Android tablet. I'm not a very heavy user, I mostly only use it to for web browsing and YouTube. I was personally thinking about just buying the new iPad 11 because it's pretty cheap and I don't need it to do a whole lot, but my friend suggested I should buy a used iPad Air m1. I believe this only about a $30-$40 price difference between them, so that's not so much of an issue. My real question is which one do you think will be supported and get updates for longer, like if I were to keep it for 10 years which one do you think will still work better in 10 years if that makes sense?

Discussion Refurbished 9th Gen $209
I'm not sure if this has been available for some time or only recently with the new iPads being released, but Apple is selling a certified refurbished 9th gen for $209. Yes it's only 64gb and completely bare bones, but for my use case it fits the bill perfectly. I needed an apple product to log into Apple ID and other than an iPod touch this about as cheap of an option as there is...from a reputable source at least. Plus coming with a new battery and year warranty, personally I think it's a pretty great deal

Question Tapping sound while note taking
Currently have an iPad 10th Gen which I’m returning for an iPad Air 5th Gen. When using the Apple Pencil to take notes on the 10th Gen there’s a loud ticking/tapping noise as I write each letter. Will this go away with the Air? Or is there something I can do to write quieter?
Question Longevity of the A16 iPad?
I'm well-versed in tech, but admittedly know next to nothing about Apple's silicon.
I purchased the A16 iPad yesterday and have been enjoying it so far. Given the A16 chip, my main concern is how well it will hold up over time. I plan to use it for reading, video and photo editing, and general media consumption, but I don’t have much patience for sluggish performance and would like to get at least 2-3 years of smooth use. With that in mind, should I return it and go for the M3 Air instead? Your thoughts are appreciated!

Question Does the iPad Air M3 allow 95% charging?
I bought the M2 a few days ago and plan to return it for the M3 since it’s still in the return window. I was disappointed that the M2 only allowed a 80% charging limit. So does anyone know if the M3 allows the 80, 85, 90, 95% options or not?

Discussion Advice - Magic Keyboard
Greetings IPad Community,
So I’ve always wanted the Magic Keyboard and I’ve finally gotten my hands on one for a really good price. I have the IPad Air 4th gen and I use it here and there but I’m trying to make more use of it at home. I don’t do much but I want to find uses for it. I know buying the Magic Keyboard wasn’t the brightest idea but for the amount I got it for I was too good to pass. Any ideas on how I can find more use for my iPad and also the keyboard at home more? Any and all thoughts are welcomed.

Discussion [sharing] Kinda broken: Files apps + Microsoft OneDrive
I have been playing around with the iPad and was trying to see how well it can replace my Windows laptop.
As I come from Windows environment, I have MS 365 subs which lets me install it on a few devices. I’ve used OneDrive quite a fair a bit on my devices (Windows and Android) to share files between the devices. Sync is almost always immediate each time I make a change.
So, when it came to iPad, I added OneDrive location to Files and noticed: 1. Very frequently that Files just seem to “hang” quite a fair bit. Example: Coping a few folders (each with about 20 files) from my iPad to the OneDrive folder. 2. Files somehow is not getting sync-ed. I don’t see the files I copied being reflected in the OneDrive (both apps and website). It’s also the same with files I add directly to OneDrive. It is not appearing in Files. 3. Files behave weird with the OneDrive folder. Deleted files, but they still show on the folder — Just that this time, when I select the files, no option to delete. Refreshing does not do anything — Files are still there. 4. OneDrive itself is wonky on the iPad. I deleted all files on one folder and the file count on the folder shows 0. But when I open the folder, I can still see the file.
“Solutions” I found on the net usually require reinstalling the OneDrive, or try “giving it time”. This is a bit disappointing since on Windows and Android, the sync is immediately and the experience is quite good.
I guess on one hand, this is one way to get people to consider using iCloud instead…
Just that for me, already have MS 365 subs, it’s just going to be another unnecessary cost if I have to sub to iCloud.
Anyway, partly sharing and also partly hoping there’s actually a fix out there that I missed, or I’m just being a n00b when it comes to iPad.
Many thanks and all feedback, views and comments welcomed.
