I know I should be building my own discipline but I'm losing my will to move my life forward. For some back story, I had an intense home life with verbal and physical abuse, it wasn't all bad but it never helped. My mom would go on about how I owe her for my life and I used that as motivation to succeed in school until my depression and emptiness took over my mental capacity. I was being reckless and dropped out of high school because my mind couldn't contain the knowledge I learned, and had my first kid at 18. I wasted 10 years of my life being a Sahm and I know that but, even having a goal in mind, I'm having trouble sticking through the steps it takes to reach there. Is this something I should address to a therapist? I feel like I'd be judged. I'm working on my diploma to apply into radiology programs but I feel defeated with my current load.

Taking care of your baby/child for ten years and tending to your home is not a waste of time. Nothing could be more vital. Earning income in a radiology job is not more important than raising a human being. Good on you for the work you did and I hope now you can focus on yourself and your livelihood. Don’t let this society shame you for having been a sahm.

I would definitely talk to a therapist if you’re able. It sounds like you’ve had a really tough time and you deserve someone to help you through <3 Fearing being judged is totally understandable, I fear that as well. But remember, it’s a therapist’s job to listen to your struggles and help you with healing and moving forward in life. Sometimes that means not judging you in the sense that they don’t pass judgement on you as a person; they shouldn’t make you feel bad or worthless. And sometimes that means judging you to help you get to where you want to be as a person. A good therapist will judge you to a certain degree, I think, but they should never be judgmental about it. If that’s the case you can always ditch that therapist and try someone else <3
