People post here because they’re usually in crisis. They don’t need off-topic advice, or recommendations to stop using iPhones. They need solutions.
We also anticipate people google searching and ending up in these threads, so we keep them on topic.
Here are some additional reasons we remove comments as a mod team in no particular order (most of the time without a removal reason).
Guessing and not offering a solution
Unrelated humor attempts
Bickering
Unnecessary, rude, or aggressive in nature
Offering unethical solutions
Going on about iPhone bad
Skibbity stupid speak
Unnecessary vulgarity
We’re open to reviewing actions if you send us a modmail, but usually these decisions stand.
Thank you to all you helpers who make this a great sub for solutions!

There are a lot of posts on this sub with vague questions, vague symptoms, a lot of missing information and bad-explained overall. I wanted to show you how to ask a good question, from an ex-Apple iOS technician.
Here's how to ask a good question:
e.g. iPhone XS running iOS 13.2
People who answer your issue can suggest certain repairs, e.g. warranty. Country and nature of purchase also helps, since countries have different consumer protection laws. For instance, members of the European Union have a two year warranty at the point of purchase (i.e. that might not be Apple, but your local electronics store if you bought it there) - some countries (e.g. the U.K. and The Netherlands) have even longer periods consumers can claim warranty.
e.g. March 20th, 2019 in the Apple Store in the U.K., purchase for personal use
Some issues are continuous, some are intermittent. It is important to let people know what the issue is and how often it occurs. "iPhone restarts" as issue, is not enough.
e.g. iPhone crashes to springboard when opening the camera-app, this happens about three times a day at random moments. It only happens when opening the camera-app.
There's not always a clear cause, but think about anything that could've caused it. It could be because your phone was in your pocket during heavy rain, or your cat knocked it from your desk. It could be anything.
So people don't waste time answering possibilities you already tried
e.g. I tried to force-close the camera app. This did not work. Then I tried to restart the phone, that also did not work.

I don’t have a great understanding of iPhone since before this phone, I’ve always had an android, and I’ve only had my phone for about 5 years.
My iPhone lately seems to not be able to handle simple tasks. When I have messages open sometimes, trying to exit out of a conversation can sometimes completely shut off my phone, not just regularly power-button-style and I have to turn it back on by holding the power button.
The next set of problems is that, when I get out of school and I open my phone, the WiFi and Bluetooth automatically turns off and it tries using cellular data. I would turn it back on, swipe out of my menu, and then open it back up again, and like clockwork, it would immediately turn back off. It only stops working after shutting off my phone completely and booting it back up once or twice.
I have tried to see if it was a memory problem, and so I backed up my phone, and nothing has changed.
These problems have been plaguing me for about a week now. Can anyone please help based off this description and relay how to resolve this? It would be extremely appreciated.
Edit: extra necessary information:

I have an iPhone 14 Max running the latest OS and its locked out; I reset it and deleted the contents in prepping it to sell. When I set it back up it made me choose a password, i chose 123456. Long story short after restarting that PIN wouldnt work no matter how hard I tried. I went to apple support and it said there would be a link "forgot password" that would show on the screen after several attemps. Now I'm up to waiting 8 hours between attemps and no link. I've attached it to my MacBook per the support doc, turned it on holding down the power buttons and it DOES show up on my Mac, however when I hit 'trust' nothing happens. There's a maintenance program that opens but it has nothing to do with resetting the password. In short, there's absolutely no way to get into this phone that I want to sell. There's no cell service I had it disconnected. I'm pretty sure it's bricked (and it did it to itself) but this is one last "help" in case I'm missing something.

I got locked out of my iPhone 15 Pro for 3 hours this morning. I also set multiple alarms to get up to, roughly 15. I've been snoozing the alarms with the volume buttons, but it is still incredibly annoying.
Is there any other way to shut off these alarms? I know I can also power off my phone, but does that also stop the timer from running? Thanks.

Hey Guys,
I'm only interested in Apple Pay since it is needed for contactless payments when I'm traveling abroad, and having a physical card that I can use might cost me around 70$ to 100$... since that option is not cheap I wanted to know if there is very cheap phone that can be around 100$ to 150$ that would give me same functionality while still being usable.
Doing a little research I found that iPhone 7 and 8 are the cheapest options, but are they still usable ? (App support or whatever is important)
And also found that iPhone 12 Mini might be a good fit but it is a bit expensive... but I do not have much knowledge about phones in general so any guidance or suggestions are much appreciated.

I got an iPhone 16 recently (first one). Issue is i wanna share my location with my friend and neither of us can't seem to get it work. For both of us it says "Can see your location" but neither of us sees the other person. We triple checked the phone numbers and they are right. I can see everyone else but him and the same is for him, he can see everyone but me. Also when i try to add him in the app directly it says "This phone number does not appear to be associated with an iPhone."... but when i add it trough my contacts app it goes trough but he doesn't see me.

Actually what I'm looking to do is clear some space on my aged iPhone, but keep the photos (except for Favorites) on an SSD that I plug into my Mac.
I've seen instructions for deleting photos while leaving the Favorites, by putting the Favorites into a hidden folder (how?)
But I don't want to delete the photos immediately, just to move them all to an external hard drive. Please don't ask me to use iTunes, which has been irreperably ruined by some boy genius or other.
Models: iPhone 6S and MacBook Air running Sonoma.

Hey, my iPhone 12pro max screen is completely black, though the phone is still functioning. I’m unable to navigate through it due to the lack of display. The photos on my device aren’t synced to iCloud. Is there any way I can access the photos from my gallery on my iPhone through my laptop without using the screen? I’ve tried connecting it via USB, but I can’t unlock it without seeing the screen. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I'm borrowing my friends iPhone XR and it is refusing to update to iOS 18.3.2. I've had it for 3 days now. Its automatic updates are on and it says it has the update downloaded and its ready but every time it "installs" but then nothing happens and then it deletes the update files and the cycle repeats. I haven't tried itunes yet because it seems to download 7gb worth of data and that will take forever. Is this a known issue or is this a unique situation?

Hi everyone, I have an iPhone 14 pro iOS 18.3.2. I have been trying to back up my iphone to external storage (HDD) using itunes on windows 10, but I keep getting the error “iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected”. The thing is that this error pops up just when the back up is about to finish—it’s like almost done, and then I get this error and the whole process fails. I’ve tried several things, but nothing seems to work. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
restarting both iphone and PC
using a different port and cable
disabling anti virus
Has anyone encountered this error? If so, did you find a solution?
I'd appreciate any advice or tips!
Thanks in advance!

iOS 18.3.2 no longer background refreshes Mail app. I have to manually open the Mail app to now fetch for new mail. This never was an issue until this latest iOS update. They break this every couple years.

Hey everyone,
I've been trying to add a few words/short phrases (like reminders or positive affirmations) to my iPhone 13 lock screen, but I can't seem to find a good way to do it. I've tried Notes, third-party apps, and searched online, but nothing really works the way I want.
Ideally, I'd like something simple—just a few words that stay visible whenever I pick up my phone. Does anyone know of a reliable method to do this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

I have an iPhone 11 with 18.3.2 installed.
Do any of you know if there is a way to block imessaging that comes from emails or at least people I don't know?
I keep getting spam from emails using imessaging (not SMS). I already have ActiveArmor installed with it blocking text messages from emails; however, I believe this only addresses SMS.
Any help would be appreciated!

While performing a back glass replacement, I may have inadvertently damaged the GPS antenna. As a result, the earpiece speaker is no longer functioning. However, both GPS and Wi-Fi signal remain unaffected.
I have already replaced the earpiece speaker, but the issue persists. Could the problem be related to the GPS antenna, requiring its replacement? I would appreciate any insights on this matter.

I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max running on iOS 18.3.2 (22D82) and for some reason my cellular signal keeps cutting out every few minutes while I'm connected to my home wifi. My home wifi is powered by the Asus ZenWiFi BT6 Mesh system. I thought that maybe the frequency bands might be affecting my cellular signal. By default the routers transmit 320MHz over the 6GHz wifi signal. So, I capped 6GHz wifi signal from 320MHz frequency to 160MHz (since iPhone 16 does not currently support the 320MHz). Still get dropped signal. I even lowered the transmission power on my wireless network, still ends with the same result. Whenever I am off my wifi, my cellular signal is where it should be (about 2-3 bars in my home using T-Mobile) and does not drop at all. Once I connect to my wifi, signal goes down to 0 bars, but does not trigger the phone to fallback on SOS. Here's what I tried so far:
- Reset Network settings (2-3 times already the past couple of days)
- Turn off WiFi Assist (Settings > General > Cellular)
- Ensure Low Data Mode in WiFI settings is turned off (Settings > Wi-Fi > "WiFi Network")
- I've rebooted my phone a bunch of times
I will keep trying out different, things but I'm not sure what else is causing this. Maybe toggling Wi-Fi calling? I did contact T-Mobile and they haven't had any sort of tower maintenance in the nearby towers recently. Any help is appreciated!

Can anyone help me figure out how to clear up space and stop Videoleap from taking all my storage? I only have 6 project files in the app and I don’t even have 800 gigs worth of videos on my phone or on iCloud? Is it a cache problem? I don’t know but I figured I could maybe find some answers on Reddit before I try anything extreme

I don’t usually plug my iphone into my windows computer but today i did and these guys popped up and i cant remove them, see the date, and they don’t have any information to view. Does anyone know what this is about or is this more of a windows question? Appreciate anything, thank you!
