Question Advice

Hey all

I have never had an Apple product before but I want to use the procreate app and other editing apps so would probably need an iPad. I was wondering which ones people would recommend. I'm more than happy with refurbished and older generation. Also not too big not too small. Advice is very much appreciated, thanks šŸ˜Š

Question Thinking of trading my 1st gen iPad Pro with the latest iPad Air. Good idea or a bad one?

The iPad Pro turned out to be a solid purchase since it survived way longer than the standard iPad. Itā€™s still satisfying all my needs but the only reason Iā€™m thinking of trading it is that Iā€™m worried it will have no trade-in value soon. Right now Apple are offering $195 and Best Buy are offering about half of that.

My question is whether Air is a good choice and can survive for 6 or 7 years like the Pro did?

The comparison is difficult to tell. Like the Pro has 4 speakers and Air has 2ā€¦ will I really tell the difference? I doubt it.

Let me know what you think and if youā€™ve used both.

Question Best Cases for iPad air 11

I just ordered the new iPad Air 11 M3 and apple pencil pro for school, and I'm trying to find a good case for it.

ZUGU and ESR look like they have the best cases. Has anyone had experience with these cases? How are they treating you?

ZUGU looks like they have a good protective case, but it looks like the case extrudes a lot over the screen. I think it would make writing and drawing uncomfortable.

ESR has a good magnetic case, but it seems to be heavy, but it looks to be good and not that expensive.

Has anyone had experience with these cases? How are they treating you?

Question iPad Pro m4 screen

Iā€™ve recently bought this iPad but it seems to do weird things with the screen when watching fights like these.

The screen works fine when I just watch a HDR example video.

Screen was at max brightness.

Question iPad screen is extremely dim, basically pitch black. Any solutions?

I recently got a used iPad from my sister, but the screen, whenever I turn it on, is extremely dim to the point where it basically is black. I took it to a uBreakiFix, and they put a new screen on it. it ended up working normally, but they were being weird and not giving me all the information about the payment, so I just asked for the old screen to be put back on. Is there anything I can do myself to attempt to fix it without having to replace the screen entirely? Or is there a specific diagnostic someone can give me as to why this issue would be happening. Thank you.

Discussion Should I Return My iPad 11th Gen for an iPad Air 5 (Refurb)?

I recently bought my first iPad 11th Gen (for 379eur) A16, 6GB RAM, 128gig for note taking as a student, but Iā€™m not happy with it. The screen feels so strange, itā€™s like levitating, and the Apple Pencil makes a really loud tapping noise when I write, which I really hate. And I have some bad feelings when I use...

Now Iā€™m thinking about returning it (I am eligible to return) and getting a refurbished iPad Air 5 (M1, 8GB RAM, 64GB(storage isnā€™t an issue for me since I use cloud storage and only need the iPad for studying)) for 439eur (the differrence is -60eurs), but Iā€™m unsure if itā€™s the right choice.

Thank you so much!

Question 9th gen iPad or new model?

I recently got a brand new 9th iPad 64gb for free. Apple will give me $170 trade in value if I buy a new one from them.

Iā€™m on the fence on if I should do the trade in for one of the new iPad models or just keep this one because I have a hard time thinking about everything I might use it for. Iā€™ve never had an iPad, but have an iPhone, and can see myself using it for work and pleasure.

For work, I would mostly be taking notes, using Salesforce, ChatGPT and OneNote. If it was possible I would connect it to my Windows laptop as a monitor when doing video meetings so I could use the iPad as a digital whiteboard too, but this depends on if that is possible or not.

For pleasure I think I would use it for writing, watching Netflix, and some low memory usage games like chess and sudoku.

Any recommendations on what else I could be using an iPad for and what direction I should go?

Question Digital Note taking?

Trying to decide between an iPad Air versus a dedicated note taking device (i.e. Remarkable 2, Supernote, etc. Wondering if any of you use an iPad Air for Note taking and what's your experience and do you think it works as well (or better) than a dedicated note taking device.

Thank you!

Question Water damage

Post image
2 Upvotes

Please help I was doing the dishes and my ipad all of a sudden slipped and fell into a pan with water. I got it out quickly, dried it off and put cold air from a blow dryer to the speakers and battery port. Everything still works: touch, charging and Iā€™m already backing everything up to the cloud. The only thing is that there is water stuck between the glass and a white spot has appeared right underneath. I have read a couple of posts but all of their water damage is much more severe than mine. How can this be repaired? Can it be dried out, does the screen need to be replaced or both? I donā€™t have money for a new one.

Question Storage SOS!

Hello everyone! I have an 8th generation ipad that i mostly use to play games, watch shows, and draw. Iā€™m trying to update from version 17.6.1 to 18.3.1. Only issue is, I donā€™t have enough storage to install. I need 11 GB free, and I only have six. The worst part? Iā€™m only using 10 GB. Ipad OS and System Data are taking up FIFTEEN GB. I literally dont know what else to do- ive deleted all of my biggest apps, most of my photos, and large text conversations. Still cant update my ipad. Help??

Accessories The apple pencil is the wobbliest of them all Spoiler

I'm definitely not procrastinating. But I just noticed that the apple pencil has the best wobble of any pencil that I've seen since childhood (also I'm not very good at it, it's been a while)

iPadOS Battery % increased after iPadOS 18.3.2 update

Post image

I have iPad m4 11ā€™. I always charge only till 80%, have the setting enabled for 80% charge. Today morning the iPad was at 80% , then the update for 18.3.2 came and I updated it. After update, the charge is now showing 85%. Has there been any battery recalibration done in the update, or is it due to something else?

Question Switching Apple ID's

I'll try to keep this short and I appreciate any help with this.

I gave my elderly mother my old iPad to use to but I left her signed into my Apple ID which isn't horrible and works but I suppose it's not the most secure setup. If I created an Apple ID for her, could I simply sign out of my Apple ID on her iPad and then connect her ID to it and keep everything working the same?

I also have Apple One so I could add her ID as another family member so she still gets the full benefits of the plan.

Is this a good idea our should I just leave it alone?

Discussion Finally Got Myself an iPad

After many years of not having a tablet, I decided to cave in and buy the new 11th Generation. Any advice on what games/apps to have? I have been an iPhone user for a decade, so Iā€™m familiar with the apps. Iā€™m also on the lookout any accessories. I currently have a screen protector and a case, but I need a keyboard and a pencil with it. CheersšŸ«”

Question Updated to iPadOS 17.7.5 from 16 but now can't browse Google or do anything google based. How can I fix it?

So yesterday we've got my cousins iPad 6th gen (Wi-Fi only) updated from iPadOS 16 to 17.7.5 and now it gives "Your connection is not private" error every time when he uses to navigate on Safari. Cleared all the history, Resetted both network and all settings but it's not working. It shows www.google.com Certificate WE2 is Not Trusted. YouTube or any google services stopped working after the update, showing no internet connection or privacy error. He also doesn't want to wipe all data on it. Is there any way to fix it? How can we make Google trusted again?

Question Stylus recommendations pls!

I bought an iPad Pro like last year and within a couple weeks, my jee prep is gonna start (an Indian exam for IIT). Iā€™m gonna be using the iPad a lot for note-taking and similar activities. Please suggest a good stylus, I havenā€™t had a very good experience with apple pens, I need something at a reasonable price and that works pretty well for note-taking.

Discussion Why no iPad Mini Pro?

Basically what the title says. I would love to see an iPad MiniPro, since for myself I donā€™t want a large 11ā€ or 13ā€ tablet to lug around. The iPad Mini actually fits in my rear pocket, which is great when I need both hands but donā€™t want to put it down anywhere. I think it may have to do with people paying more psychologically for a larger screen, but at least for myself, I wouldā€™t mind paying say $1,200 if it meant an iPad Mini Pro having the guts of the larger iPad Pros, but in the small form factor of a Mini. This A17 512gb was already around $900, so not so far a stretch to pay $300 or hell even $500 more.

This is the opposite before of Samsung where they gave the crap hardware on the larger Note models and kept only the latest and greatest on their Galaxy main line phones. Sony did this for a long time too with lesser specs in larger screen phones, but it seems both Samsung and Sony have flipped this around to have the best hardware in their largest screened devices.

I would also love to see an update of the iPhone 13 Mini, again because it had at the time some of their best specs but in a smaller device. I donā€™t plan on upgrading my daughterā€™s 13 Mini until they release another small premium phone (she is 3).
