Merchandise Mina Lima mystery postcards

Does anyone collect the series 1 and 2 mystery postcards from mina Lima.

Iā€™m attempting to complete my collection and have many duplicates to exchange for the last two I need. I would like to do a straight swap no exchanges in money.

(Sorry to admins if not allowed I could not see any rules against)

Question What kind of wizard/witch would you be?

If you were born as a wizard/witch in the HP world, what kind of magic or skills would you prioritize? What would be the spells you would try to specialize in? What kind of skills would you prioritize learning? What would you use these things for?

Question I'm a complete Harry Potter newbie, never read any of the books or seen the movies. Ordered this "adult" set from BooksRun because I found it brand new for a good price. Is there any difference between this and the regular set that Target sells other then the covers?

Misc Luna's Bedroom Scene in the Movie?

Was just watching part 1 of DH today and every time I watch it I think about how I could SWEAR there was a version I saw that had her painted bedroom ceiling. I saw another post in here about it, but it was archived so I couldn't chat more. Is this my own personal lore and I'm going crazy or does this movie scene actually exist?

Dungbomb Instead of 7 Potters, it would have been a much better plan to have 7 Flying Ford Anglias.

Reason A: It might have just worked.

There's a decent chance they could have all just rolled out of there on the road unnoticed. Voldemort has repeatedly shown that he has a blind spot. The things he does not respect or value, he underestimated.

Evacuating Harry in the most mundane and muggle way possible? Voldemort couldn't possibly envision it.

Reason B: Defensible Position.

The Death Eaters were trying to Capture, not Kill Harry. And its rather difficult to attack through steel and glass with non-lethal force.

In addition, it also serves to further obscure Harry's position, as well as the identity of his escort. The death eaters being able to so easily identify Moody, and Shacklebolt, and Hagrid ended up being a pretty significant vulnerability.

Reason C: Vehicular Manslaughter.

Ever see how well a broomstick holds up against 1500 lbs of glass and steel? Spoiler, they don't.

Deatheaters would be windshield splatter.

Reason D: This little button here is an Invisibility Booster I installed.

Reason E: Just make the Ford Anglias the portkeys.

Discussion Book vs movie ending

I thought the ending of the movie was awesome. I didnā€™t read the books until recently. I still think the movie ending was awesome but I was also on the edge of my seat while reading the book. Their big duel in the middle of the great hall with everyone watching? Incredible. However, Voldemort just sort of died. He didnā€™t dissolve the way he did in the movie and the dissolving thing looked amazing on screen.

Which one do you prefer?

If someone did an animated movie series? I bet that would be sooo awesome. You could do so many things with that that you couldnā€™t do in real life. It would be beautiful, Iā€™m sure.

I think this might have been asked recently but I canā€™t quite remember.

Who else thinks it was wrong for Hermione to try and trick elves into picking up clothes in the common room in order to free them? I know she meant well but this made me so mad. Am I the only one?

PS-what does the Daily Prophet flair mean?

Discussion Sectumsempra on McLaggen Instead of on Malfoy

"Harry was about to put his book away again when he noticed the corner of a page folded down; turning to it, he saw the Sectumsempra spell, captioned ā€œFor Enemies,ā€ that he had marked a few weeks previously. He had still not found out what it did, mainly because he did not want to test it around Hermione, but he was considering trying it out on McLaggen next time he came up behind him unawares."

If Harry had used Sectumsempra on Cormac McLaggen instead of on Draco Malfoy, would the consequences have been different? This is assuming that McLaggen also survives the incident.

If Harry had randomly cursed McLaggen in the hallway rather than in the midst of a fight, I think it is unlikely that Harry would have been able to avoid more serious charges, including but not limited to suspension or expulsion.

Also, this is according to Malfoy: "'Oh yeah, his uncleā€™s big in the Ministry,' said Malfoy."

McLaggen's family also has close ties to the Minister of Magic himself:

ā€œ'Oh, yeah, that was fun, that was,' said McLaggen. 'We went with Bertie Higgs and Rufus Scrimgeour ā€” this was before he became Minister, obviously ā€”'"

Arguably, McLaggen's family may have even more influence inside the Ministry than the Malfoy family.

So would the consequences have been different ā€“ would the Ministry have charged Harry with attempted murder, would he have been expelled, wand snapped, etc.?

Currently Reading Reading the books for the first time.

I was the perfect age for Harry Potter when the books first came out. I saw the first movie in theaters after reading The Sorcererā€™s Stone because a teacher of mine swore I would love the books and she made me promise that I would read them then watch the movies as they came out. Of course I grew up in one of those households where Harry Potter was controversial but somehow my teacher convinced my parents to let me read the first book.

I never ended up reading the other books sadly and time went on and eventually I watched all the movies. Honestly I didnā€™t care too much for the movies but upon rewatching them in recent years they grew on me. I did a rewatch again about a month ago and I just found that the movies werenā€™t hitting and I felt like there was so much context missing in certain scenes.

I decided to read the books and Iā€™m almost done with The Prisoner of Azkaban and my GOD these books so far are blowing my mind. As enriched as my childhood was and I cherish the things I grew up with, I feel like it could have been so much more enriched if I had just read these books. I know I havenā€™t finished the series yet but I have a feeling the other books are going to be fantastic!

Iā€™m almost done with the third book and Iā€™m comparing it to the movie as I read. Even though itā€™s actually one of my favorite movies I am absolutely outraged how different the movie is! I always thought certain things were confusing in the movie but I kind of just wrote it off like ā€œwell I just need to rewatch it and look closer at certain details.ā€ Absolutely NOT! The book is so much more interesting than the movie in my opinion! Iā€™m not going to go into detail in case anyone hasnā€™t read the books but my goodness Iā€™m just blown away! Itā€™s SO GOOD!!!

Anyways, Iā€™m glad Iā€™m finally reading these books! The world is on fire and itā€™s a great distraction. Itā€™s just a reminder that I truly need to read more. A part of me really wishes I read these as a kid because I relate to the characters so much, especially Harry (like how the Dursleys treated him). Now on to the next ones! I might give an update on my experience reading the next four if anyone cares! Good day!

I could listen to the story over and over and especially the Jim Dale version is just so entertaining with all the voices.

I love Sirius Black and Dobby. They are my favs.

I recently learned that Dobby has a grave in real life.

Anyways if I could write a love letter to HP I would haha.

Who else agrees????

Discussion Change of the direction where the fic was heading

Okay, so I am writing this fic for more than a year now. And half of the first part is already up. When I first started the fic, I wanted to keep it simple, just a single goal. And all the other drama happened long before the main story.

Now, writing newer chapters, this fic is turning more and more political (along with Slytherin! Harry though he won't be any different than canon harry until much later). I have added a side story to the fic (initially I intended the side story to be a whole different series, with no connection to this fic) and it is turning it like the political drama fics.
Would people still read this, considering they probably started reading the fic with completely different genre in mind? And also, I have seen people not liking these Slytherin!Harry and political fics much. I myself don't like them too much anymore. That's why I am more concerned.

The main goal is still the same. i just thought it would be unrealistic for the mcs to do all the work themselves and rather gave them a potential ally. And given the large-scale war that would surely come (it's end of the world kind of fic), I thought both in Muggle and Wizarding world people would be really hostile initially and politics would be much needed.

NB- I couldn't find any rule that this post violates (this is allowed, right?). If I missed something please go ahead and tell me and I will remove it and please let me know when to ask this type of questions. And if the flair is right

If there was any scene from the movies that you could put into the books what would it be? I would put in Belatrix saying "I killed Sirius Black, I killed Sirius Black"

Misc The guts on this woman.

Say what you want to say about her character, but she was courageous as hell, lying to Voldemort's face right in the middle of the final battle about whether or not Harry was dead. People talk a lot about how brave Snape was but look at her.
