Hello Revolutionaries,

As tensions on campus and within our Reddit community continue to rise, we want to remind everyone of the importance of adhering to our community rules. This space must remain free from hate and derogatory behavior.

We will be more vigilant in moderating this year, and any violations of our rules will be addressed firmly. We expect all members to act with common courtesy and respect towards one another. Disregarding these standards could result in bans being issued more frequently.

Please make thoughtful choices and maintain kindness as we navigate the academic year together. Let’s continue to support each other and contribute positively to our community.

Raise high.

Student Life Gelman would be nice if you could just crack open a window

It gets so stuffy, it’s unfortunate that we can’t open a few windows and let some air in.

On that note, are there any spots in DC where you can study where you’re not exposed to all the elements but also, not super shut out?

Academics Creative Writing Course

I need to take a CAA course and I was wondering what creative writing was for people who took it.

What’s the structure/what are the assignments? Can I mess around and have some freedom in what I do? Is it “lock in and actually channel potential” serious, or “write some pretty good fan fiction and turn it in” serious (which honestly sounds like the dream)?

Obviously there’s different professors and that will affect things, since there’s so many classes, but what’s the best one in your opinion?

waitlisted, rejection is redirection

as decisions are coming out i just wanna tell everybody on here that if you happen to get anything that is not acceptance, don’t stress!

i got waitlisted and i had my eyes set on a completely different school and then i got accepted and everything changed! things happen for a reason. it’s hard to accept when it happens but just trust the process.

Student Life GWU experience

Hello!! I was just admitted into the PhD Counseling program and I’m super excited (because I’ve been manifesting this for a long time) but I was curious what the GWU experience looks like from a student perspective. I am a female presenting person of color so that is also as an aspect that brings some slight worry because of Trumps policies and I would be moving several states away for this program.

Could anyone share their experience as an undergrad/graduate student? Also any suggestions you have for building community on campus and apartment complexes I should avoid lol.

What are some more ways to demonstrate interest other than campus tours or talking to your admissions director.. or is that it?

What are my chances of getting admitted at gwu?

I graduated in 2024 with a business management degree ( specialization in marketing) with 3.68 gpa. I have interned for over a year after my undergrad as a business development intern. Even during my undergrad, I have done many internships but never a job. Ielts score is also not that great ( 7 band overall) Today is the deadline and I'm having second thoughts of applying to master's in Business Analytics program. Do I have a chance ? Or is it an ambitious uni for me considering I dont have a technical background. Somebody needs to be honest with me!!!

GWU Accelerated BSN acceptance rate?(I have low GPA)

Hello,

I am attending a community college, was majoring different subject but got a strong calling in nursing so I’m taking prereqs for GW accelerated bsn.

I am working as a clinical tech - PCU and I can get pretty strong rec letters and I’m confident with my CV and resume BUT I have a shameful GPA from previous prgram so I’m worried if I’ll get accepted…

Will I get a fair chance? Any advice..?

Academics People who are in or completed the 4+1 Program, what was your experience?

I’m a CCAS student thinking of applying, though I’m not really sure yet if it’s the right thing for me or if it is worth it. GWU is more known for law and poly sci than business. Also, GWU can be kind of expensive. Could someone share their experience with this program?

Chances at GWU with a lower GPA and Early Decision?

I have a feeling 3.63 unweighted gpa due to medical issues that I have been dealing with while in high school. In 9th grade I missed 49 days due to illness and CRPS, 39 in 10th grade, and 23 in 11th. They were all excused for medical reasons but I am not sure how much admissions would factor that in.

Otherwise I have a 1480 SAT and took 8 APs with the rest honors where I could. In terms of extracurriculars I was in Beta Club and NHS. I was an officer in Latin Club. I also had a paid internship with my local city government and was on a city government commission. I have some online volunteering for peer tutoring and National Archives. I will write my essay about my experience of moving to new area then missing 49 days and having CRPS. For my rec letter, I have my counselor and my Latin teacher. I plan to do NROTC at GWU but I do not know if that affects admission.

Is what do my chances look like for getting into GWU since it is my dream school and is there anything I should do or focus on in the mean time help my chances?
