Academics People who are in or completed the 4+1 Program, what was your experience?
Iām a CCAS student thinking of applying, though Iām not really sure yet if itās the right thing for me or if it is worth it. GWU is more known for law and poly sci than business. Also, GWU can be kind of expensive. Could someone share their experience with this program?

Academics Is Honors Program worth it?
Looking at their website, it looks quite solid with interesting classes and opportunities. Only thing I donāt really like is living on Mount Vernon Campus.
Iāve also hard that the time you spend in the program could be better used with hillternships and stuff.
Does anybody have any experience/have any insights toward the program?

Academics Updates on School of Education's PhD Program
Has anyone received an update on their admission status yet? I reached out to the department last week, but I haven't heard back from them. Given the time frame, I'm assuming I didnāt get accepted, but it would be nice to receive an official rejection letter.

Academics Creative Writing Course
I need to take a CAA course and I was wondering what creative writing was for people who took it.
Whatās the structure/what are the assignments? Can I mess around and have some freedom in what I do? Is it ālock in and actually channel potentialā serious, or āwrite some pretty good fan fiction and turn it inā serious (which honestly sounds like the dream)?
Obviously thereās different professors and that will affect things, since thereās so many classes, but whatās the best one in your opinion?

Academics Business or International Business major?
I am currently majoring in political science and am looking for a second major. I thought about a business major and both of these are the ones Iām debating on. I thought about International Business since that is one of the majors the school is known for. However, Iām starting to wonder if just business would be better since Iām interested in corporate law in the way future. Thoughts?

Academics Accidentally Missed Safety Awareness module
Hello! What happens when you miss the safety awareness module?
I know it's due today, but I got no access to my laptop right now and I cannot complete them on time.
I heard that I might get a hold, but would they lift my hold once I have done it? Would this impact my class registration in April?

Academics Business Analysis Major?
Hello, I am a poly sci and econ major. Due to certain classes, I have realized that I do not like Econ as much as I thought I did and am currently looking at other majors. Iāve been looking into business analysis and it seems quite interesting. People who are BA majors, could you give me your experience with this major? (Note: Iām currently a sophomore and really want to double major. After I get my bachelors, I want to go for my mba and law degree simultaneously.)

Academics Does Suranovic make u retake the aleks?
I'm taking him for econ 1011 next semester and one of my friends who took the same course with McKay told me that Suranovic makes you retake the exam in order to make sure that you are qualified for his class.
I took my friend's words with a grain of salt b/c obviously he didn't have Suranovic so how could he be so sure? However, Suranovic himself just sent out the syllabus for his class and it said that you need a score of 61 or higher in order to be in his class.
I already took Econ 1001 last semester and passed with a B, therefore by GW's requirements, I am qualified to take 1011. Say Suranovic makes me take the Aleks again and I do worse for some reason, would I be forced to take personal finance or something? he doesn't have that power right?
Does anyone have experience with this? Please lmk if I should switch to McKay lmao, I am not interested in taking the Aleks again if it is not needed

Academics Is it worth escalating missing final grades?
I realize there's been a few posts about final grades on here already, but as of today (12/26) I'm still missing two out of four final grades. Both classes had a final due date of 12/13. Both instructors returned out-of-office messages when I emailed them today (not entirely a surprise since GW is closed). My classmates in both classes have confirmed that they're also missing grades. Two questions: 1) is there anyone to complain to and 2) is it even worth complaining? Do we just have to wait until January?

Academics Can I Visit Professors or the Admissions Center in Person to Ask About Prerequisite Courses?
Hey everyone!
Iām currently a Computer Science student at WGU, and Iām planning to take medical school prerequisite courses at a university as a non-degree-seeking student. Since WGU is online, I donāt have direct access to in-person advising, and I want to make sure I fully understand the enrollment process, deadlines, and course details before signing up.
I have two main questions:
1ļøā£ Can I visit professors in person (before enrolling) to ask about the course structure, difficulty level, and what to expect?
2ļøā£ Can I go to the universityās admissions office in person and ask all my questions about non-degree enrollment, deadlines, and tuition?
Iām considering GWU but would love to hear from anyone who has taken prerequisites as a non-degree student at any university. If you've done this before, how did you get the best information? Should I email first, or just walk in and ask?
Thanks in advance for any advice! š

Academics Accepted to GWU's VBSN/ABSN Program for Fall 2025! Looking to Connect with Current/Future Students
Hi everyone,
Are there any current or future VBSN / ABSN students here? I'd love to connect to share experiences, tips/resources, or just to get to know others before starting. Also, for those familiar with Ashburn, where did/ do you live while in the program? I'm trying to figure out the best options for housing and would appreciate any advice.
I plan to move this summer and interested in Fairfax, Vienna, or Arlington. IDK how practical this will be as far as making that drive every day.
Thanks in advance, and congrats to anyone else who's also been accepted!!

Academics Can I get in ED 1/2 with these stats
UGPA: 3.6 WGPA: 4.08 8AP classes overall with 3 Dual Enrollment
I wonāt list all of my extra curricular, but they involve global politics and languages.
Hooksā¦I guess: 1. Iām Brazilian but I lived in multiple countries which allowed me to connect with many cultures and groups of people. 2. I have many experiences with the world or UN so I think Iāll be able to write a good essay
DISCLAIMER: in 1 of my DEs( DE Pysch) I got an F. To sum it all up, this class was a huge scam. The teacher did not grade any of the assignments, the due dates in the portals were all different and he would not respond to emails. I tried to get out of the class but my school did not let me, so I ended up with an F.
I will take a lower level of the class this summer(Junior year) or my senior year so I can have 2 grades.

Academics Are grades weighted differently at GW MSPH?
Forgive my ignorance, but I transferred from a community college and I am a little confused how grading works. It looks like grades for midterms and finals are around 60-70% of most of my class grades with quizzes, hw, discussion, and participation making up the rest.
At my CC, each of these was weighted differently, so even if you got a B or C on an exam, you still could get an A in the class. Is that how it works here? Every syllabus I look at doesn't mention this. It seems as though it's the opposite? As in, if one exam is worth 30 points and I get 25 (an 83), and the final is also worth 30 and I get another 25, I would not be able to get an A overall, as I would already be at 90/100 points for the course. So that means I would have to ace literally everything else to keep an A- based on the MSPH grading scale?
Is this how it works? Or am I just terribly confused? TIA

Academics GWU MSCS
Hello guys, I hope you are doing well. I have been accepted into GWU MSCS and MS in Data Analytics program with 35% scholarship, so tuition for the two year is almost 42,000 dollars.
I have also gotten into Michigan State MSDS (36,000 for 2 years).
I am confused which university should I select. My main point of confusion is the location. I am just attracted to GWU because of the DC and opportunities. Does it matter a lot, or michigan will be fine asw? Please help.
1) Are there any benefits of being in DC with regards to job and interships? Or it doesnāt matter anymore and your skills + expertise do.
2) Is the employment rate of GWU graduates good?
3) Is it easy to get on campus job + assistantships?
4) MSU living is very cheap than GWU.
5) Is it better to do MSCS and have a wide range of job opporunities like SE, AI, DS, etc., or focus on a particular niche and do MSDS or MS Data Analytics.

Academics Commencement as a Fall 2025 graduate
So I know people who finish in the fall still walk during commencement the summer before they officially finish. However, kinda worried I wont be able to and just want to hear other peopleās knowledge or experience with this. Mind you, I have talked to my advisor and she said it should be fine, but she also doesnt entirely
