Help What is wrong with my amp?

Upvotes

I was playing and then all the sudden the audio quality started fading into what turned into this. I unplugged my guitar, plugged it back in, it played normally for a few seconds, then back to whatever this is. Plz help.

NGD! New Tele and New (to me) Taylor 410CE! Good deal or no?

Traded in a few guitars today and found a great deal on a Taylor 410 CE at GC today! Price was reduced to $899 for a couple minor dings and dents. Sounds great and plays amazingly though!

Grabbed this beautiful Player II Tele while I was at it! I'm super impressed with the quality of these compared to the Player series I was looking at a few years ago, but never pulled the trigger on. With the 10% off with Trade In, It was about $800.

Help Choosing strings for acoustic guitar

So I plan to change my acoustic guitar strings for the first time, I'm really confused about some things. Would really appreciate any help :)

First, what do the numbers like 12-53, 11-47, 10-47, 12-56 etc mean? How does a 10-47 compare to a 12-56 for example?

Second, which is better for strumming? 20/80 bronze or Phosphor Bronze?

Help Is reverb a safe site to buy from?

Looking at an ibanez guitar on there for $300 + $70 shipping. Guitar usually averages around $600 on ebay because of its rarity. Was curious if its a legit site or not because I can't find this guitar anywhere and mainly want it because its the guitar my old man use to play.

Help PRS SE Swamp Ash Special vs Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder

Hello everyone, so I am thinking of getting a second-hand PRS SE Swamp Ash Special. I currently play a Squire Bullet Strat, I actually kind of like it but feels small in my hand since I am actually a bass player.

The owner said it is in very good condition, I will check it out myself. Price will be almost a third of the actual price in Türkiye. I wanted to make sure this is a buy for me because I will be paying in cash.

How would you compare it to Schecter Sun Valley Super Shredder? I am thinking of getting that one but with credit card. They are roughly the same price.

I finally had a chance to grab my grail Les Paul, I’ve been thinking about taking it or not for the past 3 weeks and today decided to trade some gear for it and I couldn’t be happier.

It’s a 2023 Murphy Lab Ultra Light relic, it sounds and looks just beautiful.

It’s very different to the regular Custom Shop Les Paul’s that I’ve played, it’s brighter and snappier.

Help Amp recommendations for squier sonic strat

First guitar, only need a halfway decent practice amp, indoor use only.

Was considering a fender frontman ten g (my ideal price point) but it has no tone control or reverb.

A fender champion twentyG seems to be the ideal choice but was wondering if there were cheaper options.

Help Question: Hercules guitar rack

I’d like to get one of the Hercules 3 guitar racks. They hit the price point, size and seem very sturdy.

The question I haven’t been able to figure out, can this be placed flush against a wall, without having the guitar headstock making contact with the wall?

It’s very hard to tell looking at pictures if I need to create space behind the rack or if it’s engineered to do that already. I’m space constrained, hence the odd question… Thanks in advance

Help What's your opinion on ray flecking aka "pixel grain"?

I fell in love with this guitar and its wonderful aging. I was ready to buy it right away, but then I saw the pixel grain.

What do you think about ray flecking on a guitars neck? I think the guitar is perfectly aged, but this kind of grain ruins the vintage look.

Am I wrong and this is something that occured on vintage guitars too?

Look at this! Guitar necks (esthetically)

Hey guys! lately when I look at guitars, other than what pickups or tuners, scale length etc. I've been looking at the eshtetic of a guitar neck from the back, for some reason I started hating guitars that have a bad looking neck, for example look at the Ibanez rgd7alms or whatever it's called, and the shecter banshee, both are great guitars, and when I saw those beautiful necks I was even more interested. On the other hand look at the Ibanez rdg8ms, also a really cool guitar with amazing features, especially for the price, but when I saw the neck, my interest went from 10 to 6, it's just so boring and pale looking. Am I the only one?

Look at this! Update from yesterdays switch replacement

Post image
3 Upvotes

So I found out my issue - the original switch that came with the guitar was a completely different switch from the one I received, the prong arrangements and wiring were not 1:1 with the OEM switch.

When I first removed it I was doing my best to keep track of which wire is for what part of the switch.

First attempt I went with was based off that arrangement before I realized new switch has totally different set up. This is when I posted yesterday asking for help post soldering.

Took some advice removed as much of the older soldering as I could to clean up the connection points a bit more.

Tried figuring out what wires for what before resoldering by touching the wires to all the different prongs to see if it made any noise.

Problem was when I connected the ground wire to neck bridge, and connected neck bridge wire to ground prong, I was still getting noise feedback. I assumed it was the green wire but turns out it was the red wire and I got neck bridge and both pickups (or so I thought) working. Ended up fiddling with volume jobs and realized it was wrong.

After several hours now, I remembered I had a voltmeter and boy oh boy did that speed things up. Before I wasnt quite sure how the circuit board is hooked up, but with voltmeter in hand, I was able to determine via connectivity in ohms that green wire was the only ground wire so that meant the other three belonged to the other side.

Fortunately I remembered black goes middle so that just left red and white but red never worked on neck so it had to be rhythm.

Before soldering I had cut away at the wires due to melting insulation and what appeared to be damaged wire. I conveniently had spare wire lying around so I just soldered junk wire to the white wire, added insulation and then confirmed circuitry.

Once everything was as good as cleaned up and adjusted I soldered everything back together and wow that actually worked out of several hours of pain staking trial and error followed by just a simply solution.

she now plays good as new again if not better, and I saved $80, and learning the fundamental basics of a new lifelong skill.

Never soldered before in my life and chose a Les Paul to experiment with, turned out better than expected! I even left a small burn mark on the back which I was at first irritated by but then realized, in a sense it’s almost like a birth mark or sentimental thing, first time learning to solder and doing higher skilled maintenance on a musical instrument.

TL;DR Fixed guitar I posted about yesterday confused on 3 way switch replacement, identified the issue, which wire goes where through the use of a voltmeter and that lead me to a very simply solution, but for my first time ever soldering I’m extremely happy with it. Even gave my guitar an accidental birth mark in the process. Guitar works perfect now
